The evolution of a gil-farmer

Furyrush is another of their group. Curious if they are gil sellers or not...

- They farm almost constantly (Korroloka, Beadeaux and Zitah) except for when they're parrtying together.
- The money certainly doesn't go into their gear.
- They seem to be NA (they don't understand Japanese, and don't seem to use Chinese)
- The one character seems to be played by more than one person (Some days Bluelemon is very friendly and chatty, other days she doesn't seem to know me)
- All apart from Bluelemon are constant asses.

They fit some parts of the "gil seller" profile, but not others...

Ah yes, Furyrush, i haven't seen him in a while.

The other day i was hunting morion, and ran up as Raman was fighting it, with a gigas also attacking him (he was fighting the gigas when the ??? spawned, so he disengaged and ran for the worm) so i killed the gigas, since it was at full health, and he was busy with the NM. Well he sent me a tell saying "Fu ck You" and never said another word to me. Personally i think if he doesnt' want me killing his mobs, he should kill them before claiming new ones. :roll:

Seriously though, theres a difference between what they do and farming alot. Somebody who farms ALOT, still actually plays the game, they go out, do things, buy things with the hundereds of thousands of gil they have. These guys pretty much just farm Korroloka all day everyday. There is almost always 1-3 of them there. And they are methodical like only someone on the payroll can be. Personally, i take great joy in killing morrion 4 or 5 times in a row while they're there, because i know it just irritates the hell out of them. :wink:

Ok, To clear up any confusion on my views of a gil-farmer:

Gil-farmer : a player whos sole purpose of existence in this game is to amass gil for sale online for real world dollars.

While it is difficult to prove who actually is a gil-farmer, there are some ways to determine the possibility and come up with reasonable case for suspicion.
Below are the things I look for when trying to I.D. a possible gil-farmer.

a) Lvl : So far the going lvl is the 50-ish area based on my personal observations and the observations of other trusted online friends.

b) Job: Im finding that most gilfarmers are dragoons with a mage/curing class with them for a total of 2 people.

c) Gear: Despite my original belief that great gear = gil-farmer (totally untrue) these people have just what they need to survive.

d) Check AH: If someones name appears constantly in the price history of a certain item, and this person wears shitty gear, well, doesnt take a genius to figure that one out. Ex: AH price history shows this person made around 600k in the last 3 days, yet they wear shitty gear 20 lvls old..........

c) Location: If you suspect a person to be a gil-farmer, do a /sea all on them once in a while for about a week. Chances are they never leave these areas except to hit jeuno to sell.

These are just some of the things I look for, these are by no means hard proof of gil-farming. You guys can agree or flame as you see fit, I could care less. Also it could be argued as a "who cares" or "get a life" ...whatever. I truly beleive that this totally unfair practice of selling gil is complete bullshit, and that it does hurt those of us who actually play the game for its original purpose........entertainment.

When I see a gil farmer

I see plenty of Gil Farmers when I'm playing, in particular AoE farmers(Those that use Stonga, Waterga, etc. after training multiple mobs to them.) What I normally do on these cases is I'll follow that person, and take at least one of his mobs if I can(especailly if I'm leveling in that area.)

I tend to see alot of these people on Vomp Hill in South Gustenburg....either their AoE farming, or Powerleveling someone(See my post about the two idiots, with the subject of "Mob trains....two people to be avoided").

Furyrush was back killing the Morrion Worm again. He was very nice to me, even wished me luck. As for one of the other DRK's that we assume is connected to him. (They where not in party) just out of the blue /tell's a friend hunting with me <Too Weak>.

I am 0/6 on that damn worm.

Yeah...seems as though the good old money makers are completely dead as of now...

I go to Ordelle's, theres a party of obvious IGE'ers doing that shit with the CFH and bats, and always getting the spawns cause of it, and who in their right mind would camp chymes with a full pt?

I go to Ifrit's Cauldron, the same 5-10 people are running around and lowering the price of adaman slowly (now 60k... -.-), and I see their names on the adaman sale list, dropping 7 ores at a time (they're there almost 24/7)

I go to any decent money NM camp, and I see IGE'ers there as well.

Gil sellers are taking over the entire game it seems cept crafting, which I might add is pitiful profit unless you have millions of gil to blow

Morrick, i train bees on vomp hill, i used to atleast, with whm, thf, get 20 in a train banishaga2, bam, all dead, and im an american NON-gil seller, so wtf.

ok, where to start.. let's see, if I could farm gil all day and sell it online.. I would. of course. shit.. I'm sure they don't even need to work.. but I couldn't do it.. I don't have the patience for it, I would go insane, and second, Furyrush is Chinese. he's awsome too.. very nice guy. chatted w/ him for like 5 hours then on FL one night, and yea, he's in zitah a shit load. not sure if he is gil farming.. but if he is. I hope he's rich. why don't you all just send SE a tell and have them make all the NM drops Rare/Ex? lol that's what I hope.. that way you would only be camping it if you could use it. like the Assault jerkin or what not.. sorry to be the flip-side of the coin. but on the few of the replies I saw I didn't see anyone that didn't mind the "gil-farmers" which I don't.. what they do w/ the gil is there own thing. they could get the NM.. get the drop. sell it... drop the gil on the floor for all I care.. sure it's annoying when you want to get the NM that you see them camp ALL THE TIME, but I just move on.. and look for more ways to build up my small empire I like to call Mr. 20gil. And honestly, from what I've found on this game.. if this person isn't camping this moneter... someone else always will be.. every time.. w/ so many ppl on our server.. there will always be competition.. and in lu of all the emp hairpin and leaping boot campers.. I still got me a set.. just try and try again. if you get too frustrated.. go for a walk. or go play w/ another NM. well.. my hands are tired. and I'm going to go to sleep now. lol and I'm not sure if I have a sig.. so I'll just put info here.

hahahahahahahhaha alas, I have looked for the del post button to get rid of the annoyingness of those 3.. but I can't find it.. if a mod could do it that would be appreciated... my great DSL company likes to drop my connection *usually when I'm zoning* and aparently it did it and I got annoyed and hit refresh to get the screen to come up.. aparently I did it 2 too many times. well. have fun w/ that one guys.

Too late Oni, he has been for a while.
Any NM that drops an item worth big $$$ is a target.
Also low lvl generic mobs with high drop rates are targets.

On a side note: Im getting examined ALOT lately in Jeuno by people who
are suspected (by me at least) to be gil-sellers. While I rarely name names, it leads me to believe that some of them read these posts.

Ive made reference to that before ^^ I personally have no problem with gil kept in game, afterall, thats what its there for. Its what I do. If Im lucky enough to get an NM and I dont want the item or would rather have the $$$, I'm gonna sell it, and put that money on the item I'm currently after ^^

you might be getting examined a lot because you have asia in your name. people have it in their minds that gil farmer/seller = chinese so yeah. brush it off, though ;p
