The Good 'Ole Days...

God, Distortion > Blizzard was tits all the way through Garlaige Citadel.

MPK

link trains destroying everything in their path.

Meeting Danpen, who invited me to Bigfun, while she was resting on her 40 something RDM as i was training all of La Thein back to WR. Then meeting Timwakefield and Aristarc, where we became the dynamic Trio. Did everything together, lost touch, but were back and 50x stronger.

Ahh, Eco-Warrior. Where 900 Xp from Meriots memouars was amazing. (I cant spell).

Working on that damn skeleton head for my subjob.

Choco license quest, longest 4 hours in my lifetime.

Asking LS for 10 minutes what "Impossible to gauge" meant.

Accidently targeting some poor JP Drg in Sandy the day i start and /telling him (without realizing) what to do and how to get out of this god damned city.

Thinking Kazham keys was the biggest waste of my time, getting to Kazham, and realizing I was right.

Just thinking how powerful jobs should be when their 75 (I still feel weak on my WAR).

Farming wind clusters and rams in La Thein while skipping school thinking i was the shit on my 48 rdm. (Back then wind clusters were 6k+).

The damn inflation that netted me like 30 mil gil, soon to all be wasted the same season ; ;.

Thats all I can think of.

I don't care what anyone says, the non-despawning, MPK days were the shit. Christ himself help you if you pissed off a BST. Walking into Crawlers Nest and getting face-raped by 1 Soldier Crawler and like 73 Worker Crawlers. 4-5 pty's zoning out of Gar(tab key) Citadel because some ass pulled across the holes.

One time, it took us almost 40 minutes, but we trained a Flesh (Kile, Whiskas, and myself) to the zone of the Citadel. Fuck me did it rape people. They'd run out, pop in for a look, RAPE! Shit, it stayed there for a good hour piling up bodies before Eleibfrid came in and killed it, then scorned us in /sh for training it xD

Also spent like 3 hours breaking materials in Bastok because I decided I wanted to make some Scale Mail with my smithing skill of 0. lol

Oh, and Zaltana's convert macro. So many people shit themselves day in and day out.

Remember when Maze of Shakrami used to be packed with people killing worms? lol. I avoided a good portion of the Dunes on BLM because of that (got a party at ~10 killing dhamels in the canyon, the random mana burns inside the maze killing worms til around 17 or 18).

Remember when Ghelsba used to be packed with people chopping wood? lol "Woot another elm, I'm rich!" Think twine or w/e it's called killed that.

Some memorable events...

-Taking an alliance to do genkai 1 and 2.. farming exoray mold and lich paper for hours/days because everyone in the LS needed them

-See a quadav that conned impossible to gauge and thinking it probably wasn't as strong as incredibly tough at level 10.

-Taking an alliance to get various coffer keys and even keys to get a Kazham pass.

-Wiping to drk and sam af weapon mobs with an alliance.

-Walking into Lufaise Meadows for the first time

-Randomly walking into Valkurm for the first time and watching a group of people fight lizards. Asking if I could join and they actually had a spot open.. thinking that power strike looked amazing... then seeing a white mage and recreating my character to level that instead of my galka monk.

-Thinking how hard black mage was around level 11 because worms in Konschtat kept binding me.

-Partying in Valkurm with Sparky on his brd around the first week of NA release (was on whm) and thinking how awesome it looked when the musical notes would fly around him when he played a song.

-Watching Fieryblizzard as a level 16 elvaan redmage solo stuff in Dangruff Wadi... then many years later seeing Fieryblizzard come back to the game as a mithra.

-Walking into Altepa for the first time and following someone that supposedly knows where the town is.

-Camping in various places that can really only support one or two parties and having like five of them there and thinking it was good exp.. think places like Qufim when there'd be like 6+ parties camped in front of the tower, or in cnest in the secret room when there'd be 4 or 5 groups camping in that tiny tunnel.

When I first started the game, I got a World Pass from a friend. I played the game from the day it came out for pc in the US. My first character was on my my boyfriend at the time's account. Her name was Hedwig, and she was a mithra. ..Same char model as Rappa. I remember having a hard time actually controlling her.. I was so used to console games, and the concept of moving with the number pad was new. So I'm running around, trying to control her.. And managed to get to lvl 11 Warrior. I thought I was so awesome because I was level 11. ..Which looking back, is awesome, considdering I did this all in South Gustaberg lol.

So that Christmas, I got my own copy of the game. My boyfriend was always logged in, and I had to wait for him to log before I could get on and do anything. So I got my own copy of the game! I remember how excited I was. I even bought myself a Brady Guide! Man I was set..lol.. So I decided to to be a hume. A friend of mine from work, who was also on Ifrit, told me hume was obviously the BEST race. So I created Keysa.. My hume Female disaster on wheels. She was the character model that kinda looks like Yuna. Why I picked that one.. I'll never know. Started to hate it after a few months :)

So I decided "I want to be a Drk/Sam".. back then.. No. LOL. So I got war to 30.. War30/thf11.. yah awesome right? So then I unlocked drk! and lvl'd it to 4.. Reallizing I hated it. So then I unlocked sam.. And immediately fell in love with the job. Of course I always had the gimpiest gear possible, because I had no idea what gear I was supposed to be using.. Or that a gimp sub job was not cool. But I ended up going Sam/war to 25. I sat.. and sat.. and sat.. for about 2 hours waiting for an invite.. or trying to make a party.. but their were no healers. So I started saying in my ls.. "There aren't any healers anywhere. This is getting so annoying.".. And someone said "you could just level white mage".. I thought about it for a minute... Got on a lvl 1 job and death warped back to bastok. I changed to white mage and never looked back. People told me I wouldn't stick with it. 3 years later(I level'd a craft, and did end game at lvl 50-65.. because all my friends were 70+ and let me come so i didnt level much).. But 3 years later! I hit 75 on my first job.. White Mage.

That was the day that I looked back on all that I'd done, and remembered that fateful day sitting in Kazham where I gave up melee jobs.. just so I'd always have a healer.

When I moved to Quetz.. I started over completely. Took me less than a year to get bard to 75(With good gear).. And now I've gone back to my melee beginnings and am leveling war. I'll never forget my early days in FFXI though. They were what molded me into the player I am now. It's weird and I hate to say it, lol, but the experiences that I've had in FFXI have actually molded me partly into the person I am now.

I got this game on PS2 release, I remember being so excited that I got it and had my friends come and watch me set up my account and make my character. So, while choose my job, I looked at them all and was like... wtf is a Red Mage? So I picked RDM. I sucked at names and since the 3 names I tried were taken, I just said "omg, if this is taken I am going to flip... 'Justinp'.... YES!" I start out on the Fairy server, which I eventually fucked up after 3 days talked to some NPC and I ended up on Hades (Good thing I didn't know a lot of people.)

So I run around for a while figuring stuff out, then I finally get out to West Ron and start lvling! I get RDM to 6 and find out, I HATE THE JOB :D. So I stop the game completely for like 2 months, came back and leveled WAR. Got WAR to 18 and found out I needed a subjob. (Note: I learned everything about this game on my own pretty much, didn't have friends to play with or anything when I started.) So I do that, got MNK to 5 and went 18WAR/5MNK woo! I got to 30 eventually after like a year (srsly), 30WAR/5MNK. So after wanting to do BST SMN and RNG, I finally get to PLD after failing at those 3, and just LOVED the job. Spammed it to 65 where I got bored of it.

So I do a bunch of other shit in game and in real life over the next year. Actually it was probably 2 years. I get PLD to 75 in September 2007 (wow right?). When I hit 75, I hopped from Hades to Quetz. I love this server. But I start leveling the job I wanted to do in the first place (RDM) in Feb of 2008, and got it to 75 in June. Now I'm pretty much here! :awesome:

Awesome read btw Urat!

Oh man, how I miss the old days. I remember coming straight from Runescape to this game and being completely and utterly baffled why I couldn't cook the craploads of rabbit meat I now had on the campfire at the Orcish camp in W. Ronfaure. I spent the better portion of an hour trying to right click and cook that damn meat.

Also was my first trip to Dunes. Here I was, a delighted level 12 Warrior, ambling about La Theine like a moron. I finally figured out how to use the map and get on my way, /checking everything in sight (I wasn't stupid, I didn't want to die). It amazed me that the sheep checked as only EP. How could a sheep check as EP? So I kill one and it was indeed easy. Happy with my triumph, I kneel down to heal. Suddenly, the ground starts shaking. Why is the ground shaking? What the hell is this, an earthquake? As I swivel my camera around to behind me, I see this gigantic ass sheep right behind me. For a split second, I wondered what the hell was going on. Then it dawned on me. I had killed a baby sheep and this was its mommy, come to exact revenge.

Fuck you Bloodtear Baldurf.

The good old days...

Not knowing what the fuck a beastman seal was and dropping around 50 of them.

Thinking that Bastok > Gustaberg > Highlands > Dunes was THE game and was HUGE!

Seeing people tank as NIN for the first time and thinking ... wtf!

Never hving to seek for long as BLM, all the way to 75

Taking 8 hours to get G1 paper... Getting it with a freeze MB at about 4 am in the morning.

Taking an alliance of 18 to do G2

Getting magic aggro from an element as BLM in dunes and wiping party.

When getting to 75 meant something

When getting to 75 took a LOT of exp

When chain 6 or 7 was considered good

When getting to a camp was an adventure

Life before parsers...

Watching someone "try" to zone a bat from the basement of Garlaige Citadel and knowing your entire party had to kill the mob you were on and run to the zone A.S.A.P because the bat was gonna come back and kill the entire party ^^

Sitting outside the Crawlers nest, waiting for the 50 mobs that someone brought to the zone to clear. Watching someone zone in and die, leaving a pile of bodies needing raise at the entrance. Knowing you weren't going to exp at the nest anytime soon...

I remember when Banshees in the Dunes were the scariest thing in the world.

That is all.

Stroper Chyme with all the archer rings and the RMT named Nuki, Flanna, Sonicteam, hell, I can't remember all of them but those guys were hilarious. The day my friend and I killed Argus for a Peacock Charm, he wore it while camping Chyme and Nuki didn't like that at all, so he kept telling my friend to, "Go home!" For some reason my buddy tried to add Nuki to his f-list.

That was 4 years ago and now I'm using the account.

Nuki is still pending. lol

i remember when 55-60 was 20k exp per lvl

Yuhtunga Jungle for the first time. There were about 6 parties all camped at the Kazham zone, all of which were subjected to 6 mandragora's Dream Flower at the same time. Then watching all the parties screaming at eachother to move away.

oh oh oh remember that time when Koga chainmail dropped and.... oh wait...

haha <3

4-5 parties trying to camp the stairs in citadel, and every last one of them getting raped when someone tried to zone chain of bats.

24 people trying to camp leaping lizzie at once, and I got claim, whoot!

moving mountains at La Theine

i always wonder how something that big can sneak up on me ;O

My most fav memory was when I was a level 6 warrior in west ronfaure fishing moat carp for 15k at stack. About 2 and half years ago
