Way back when I first started this game with some real life friends we were sitting around one day and wondering about the trademark FF catches. "I wonder what Bahamut looks like," someone said, so we looked up the Wyrmking on the Wiki to see what it was like. We read the ideas for the BCNM and the strategies involved. "What about Omega Weapon? And Ultima Weapon?" We looked those up, too. Back then, those fights and progress through Chains of Promathia seemed way out of our reach. They were, really.
Time went by and we sort of sank into the level grind. We got to Rank 5 because we wanted our airship passes but didn't go any further. We just sort of played the experience portion of the game. It wasn't until I joined the Nightblades linkshell that I really started to see the game. The past month has been a blur.
It started by finishing up Rank 10 for Bastok. A couple of the members of the shell had never done Bastok's storyline so they switched to the Republic and went from opening CS to rank6 in a night. The next day we went from 6-10. That's when we decided to beat Chains of Promathia.
Started CoP and did my opening cutscenes up through 2-5 in a single night. The second night we did from 2-5 up to Diabolos. The following night we did Diabolos up through to Promyvion-Vahzl.
We took a week off and during that time decided a single rank ten wasn't enough so we crushed Sandy's storyline, too.
When we got back to business we wrapped 5-1 through to CoP's finale in five days. All that content I never imagined I'd see was seen through to completion, and that sweet melee ring I never thought I'd own is in my ring1 slot as we speak.
Next on the chopping block is Windurst's missions, which we expect to do in a couple of days. I mean that literally, we're going to start this week and finish this week.
Good times for being able to devour the early content of this game. I'll be posting here when I've got my Glory Crown, too. See you in two weeks.
