For all those interested and/or involved, this issue has temporarily been resolved, however the final outcome depends on the thoughts and opinions of other mods.

Neolink and I have just spent the better part of an hour discussing civily and maturely this matter and the best forms of action to be taken towards him.

DO NOT PROVOKE OR HARRASS NEO LINK As this will only heaten up the issue again and I for one have no more time I can spend on this matter. This applies to everyone, including Moderators.

Any thoughts on this matter may be posted in this thread, and this thread only. Any snide/childish comments will be deleted and the parties involved will be dealt with accordingly.

The other moderators and I will be discussing this in private and the outcome we agree on will be posted later on today.

Well, I understand that the "final outcome" is still up in the air ... I'm a little confused, however, regarding what the "temporary" resolution is. Has he agreed to stay away, so long as nobody calls hims out?
 
For now he has agreed not to post or create new member accounts. He knows if he does all prior arrangements are nullified and I leave him in the hands of the other moderators.
 
I am assuming that Colbwa and Neolink are one and the same?
 
I hope it works out. It's very annoying to log on and find dozens of new posts and thread-necros from the sock-puppet-of-the-day. He should've been IP-banned a long time ago to prevent it. I rarely complain about anything that goes on in this place, but this is one of those situations where the problems of having an absentee landlord really become obvious.
 
Doesn't this mean Neolink wins?

I don't like it, but if it keeps him away...

This is a very bad idea that could very likely result in a worse situation, unless additional administration is implemented. I strongly disagree with giving any attention to Neolink, and then asking the community to make up for the lack of administration options.

Also, this could be remedied with, as Rappa posted, one simple mouse click. The catch: Reeve has to do it, as nobody else has active admin powers. I'd mentioned this before, but was told I was "blowing things out of proportion" by some members of the community.

tl;dr this was a bad move.
 
I am 100% sure I were strongly against Nox and Reeve, and told them to GTFO when I first learned of their administrative positions.

I, too, were told I blew things out of proportion. Hell, I was even told to give them a chance to prove themselves.

Obviously I were wrong, right? These guys are obviously doing a very good job at being active.
 
IP banning isnt the end all solution. its very easy to get a new IP address without much effort with the way broadband is these days.... also pretty sure they aren't going to ip range ban either...

"Let's see, we've got 20 new accounts, 15 are from neolink, two are bots, denydenydeny, done."
Never even gets to post, in exchange for... a lot more time saved by mods, and a lot more spent by him.
 
didn't we go through this issue with pandetech? just let him get bored... he's probably like 12... he'll be distracted by a shiny object and leave us alone sooner or later.

We ban and delete his posts when he shows up, but policing the board 24-7 is not possible.

I'd suggest you go read Rappa's post here.
Policing the board 24/7 is ridiculous, and has absolutely nothing to do with Rappa's suggestion.

He'll get bored quicker when he can't actually post.
 
I don't see why the mods have to make a deal with him. This isn't his site. I'll admit it's annoying to see his name pop up 10 times a day but making deals with someone like that isn't winning or even tying. He's won.
