Lot of people are having problems logging in, zoning into certain areas, or doing certain things... Which is strange. So, I want to try to use this thread for those people that are having problems, as a way to try to fix them.

Ive observed something. All of the people Ive talked to so far (that are R0'ing in certain area's, or by doing certain actions) all had trouble downloading the update for w/e reason. Because of this, Im under the impression that while downloading the update, several files were corrupted... Does this seem plausible?

Edit: Also, as a temporary fix to this problem, the best thing to do atm would be to "Check files" from the POL viewer, before logging in. This may or may not help at all, but its worth a try.

Also
TO be honest, if it WAS their servers, then EVERYONE would be having problems. Thats all there is to it. So what Im thinking is that there also might be a compatibility issue somewhere around there, with the systems people are playing on, and what the update installed onto those systems. Or maybe its just a connection issue between certain ISP's and SE. SE's servers arent to blame if everyone isnt affected.

In your next posts, please post your ISP, what system youre playing on (exactly, i.e. Im playin on a Dell Inspiron E1505,) and if you do/dont use windower (<-- probably pointless, but it might have a bug). Also list your router

possible fixes

To all of you blaming SE for causing this "issue," I have to say you're wrong. For about the last 6 hours or so, I couldn't log into Buburimu, La Theine and Selbina (among other untested locations in Lakshmi). I did the whole rebooting of modem and router, as well as a manual release/renew of the IP from the routers control panel. That didn't work.

Now apparently over on Alla, someone on a college connection got their IP changed, and that fixed everything. So, I tried hooking my modem back up, cycling it, and reconnecting the router. IP would not change from 205.*.*.*, so I tried updating my routers firmware. IP changed to 142.*.*.*, which is Telus's auto-assigned IP for new hardware. Rebooted the modem, router, and bridge to force a new IP. 161.184.*.*.

Turned on the PS2, and I just logged into Buburimu and zoned into Mhuara. Problem solved.

Some of you may remember how dreadfully slow the update a few days ago? I suspect that between North America and Japan, some fairly significant backbone is experiencing hefty data loss or some DNS resolution issue (or something equally screwy), and is still persisting/has gotten worse. Either way, we're about as boned as SE is for getting this issue fixed. It's out of all our hands. So stop being the complainy people that I used to dread getting when I worked for Comcast tech-support please.

tl:dr, If you can change your IP, chances are it'll fix the issue of R0.

I didn't have any problems dowloading the update at all. In fact, yesterday after the update I logged on all my characters just fine with no issues. And 3/4 of my characters that I tried to log on to (all in different areas) I was able to log on just fine. The only character I had issues with was the one logged in Port San D'Oria. And after taking someone's suggestion to run her to zone before getting booted, I was able to log on to her fine also. Not sure what the problem is, but it appears to be different zones for different folks.

hmmmmmmmm... it does seem a lot like corrupted .dat's or something though... Because I did have a similar problem in the chateau in sandy. And it was because a dat file was missing. All I did to fix it was replace the missing one with a random dat file, and I would no longer dc.

Im gonna try this now and see what happens.

Airship from Jeuno to Sandy failed.

Had friend move me out, then just choco to sandy.

Sandy worked, but Dynamis-Sandy didn't.

About 4 others in the LS couldn't get various zones in Sandy to work either.

Maybe Sandy = Black Hole?

there is definitely server problems. i remember last sunday everyone zone i tried to go throught i got timed out on the downloading data screen. i had to have someone log me in and physically move me out of the zone screen then when i logged in and zone into different place it happend again. that happend in the morning so i just gave up playing came back around 9pm and everything was working fine. i hope they fix the issue soon.

EDIT: Pulled off POL information link

"We understand some players are currently experiencing connectivity issues. Our team of technicians investigated and confirmed that our FINAL FANTASY XI servers are working properly, and our service is not experiencing any technical difficulties at this time.

If you are having connectivity issue at this time, try connecting to FINAL FANTASY XI again at a later time."

Entering the Inner Horutoto Ruins for Mission 1-1 in Windurst never works for me. It says "*Downloading Data*" And then my connection runs down from 100%-0% and I disconnect. Trying to exit the zone before I lose my connection also ends in connection loss. I didn't think anything of it until I read this thread. Perhaps this is caused by the aforementioned SE Post Patch glitches?

Most worthless statement ever. Seriously, if people report issues, you have issues SE, fix them.

and i agree.

Did a "checkfiles" - reinstalled "Client for Microsoft Networks" as refered to in old posts with FFXI-3113 error. No bad files. Still taking the shaft with protocol timeout error. I tried multiple computers.

Davion is stuck on the Jeuno to Sandy Ship ; ;

boneworking/jeuno mule got R0'd on the airship ride to windy - then my main got R0'd trying to zone into upper jeuno. so much for making gil; guess i'll get drunk and watch porn instead ^^

3113 error might be client or isp specific. I was able to login at my brothers house with a different pc and ISP, but still not from my home computers. I don't want to but if it keeps up tommorrow I will reinstall.

Does anyone know if "Checkfiles" runs a checksum to files to verify integrity? or just checks version? Files checked ok might still be bad.

I downloaded and installed the first stage, but the second one just sits at 0 and won't download. I also can't connect to any of the chat rooms or my POL email.
