Can I tell who put the comment there when I go look at it under User CP?

What is the point of putting a comment there if only the user you give reputation to can see it?

I tried to repute someone twice in a row. 2 Different threads. I got a message saying I had to go repute someone else first. Is this based on time or can I just not do it to the same person 2x in a row?

Is repute a word? If it is, am I using it properly?

Actually, I was kind of curious about that myself. I'd see some thanks in my CP, but no clue who is saying it, nor could I see the reputation of others. It'd be nice to know why they are getting reputation points, otherwise someone can just bump people up/down for no reason.

I was also kind of wondering this. I can only assume that there's a reason the names of those offering you their approval (or disapproval) are hidden, but it's probably a reason I'd disagree with ... haha.

One thing that's been bugging me is that I have a reputation comment that is completely positive in nature, yet it's counting as a negative hit (not green icon). I can only assume that the person who left it (not that I'm unappreciative) made a mistake. Assume, or hope. I looked around to see if there was something to do to correct it, but I couldn't find anything.

Aside from that, I only have positives. I would think that it's those that left the bad reputation that would be the most interesting to people.

I don't really see the point of it. I got a rate up and a rate down from one post I made. I guess they balance out-- but would reputation really matter one way or another? It's not going to cause me to re-write a post or change my view on something and I doubt the icon is going to really change what players already think. I say bring back the thank you button!

Yeah, I have one of those too. This thing needs some tweaking.

It can tell you how much merit a post holds from a certain person.

For instance: People that spread False information like "Utsusemi Stacks" or "Chr affects all Bard songs" or even "You'll do fine in besieged at lvl 30", they can get rated down by a bunch of people and when they tell you that they have 47 Nobles tunics to sell, you know to take it with less than a grain of salt.

It's mostly for new members that don't know everyone that posts here.

I like reading some of the comments that people leave me. Very comical
I'd say it would be.

lol. I'd say most of the comments are commical-- but you see, the thing is it would be fine if this site was designed like.. say Allah. Of the comments I received it was not a matter of information per say-- its more along the lines of 'I agree with you' 'No, I don't agree with you'. It takes 50 comments for your icon to ever change. With this not being a site like Allah, it won't work as you have estimated it to. This board deals mainly in opinion. For every one person who disagrees with you there is most likely another person who agrees with you. Just like the besieged post you refrenced-- simply opinion on high levels feeling if a lvl 30 should enter a besieged and not on how well they would perform within the besieged. I'd easily assume that any person who goes into the red on this board did this with the intent of going into the red not for giving out poor information.

I disagree. See, Peregrine.

Yeah, it'd be nice if you could see who left the comment. On the board I used to frequent, this option was there. The name would appear beside the thread location, instead of only the thread with this system.

I agree this system is pointless, unless you see who is giving you reputation.
I'll try looking for the code, but www.overgrow.com (marijuana forums ;-- ) was shutdown half a year ago. That's where they had this system, except it was called 'Karma' and you could see the username who left a comment.

I don't think Sculli has released the rules about this system yet. However I'll explain how www.overgrow.com's worked.

You could give 10 points each day. Each point had a 24hour timer on it.
Basically, you could give someone either positive/negative at a rate of 1 point per day.

I've read on other forums who also use this system, but with different rules. All these systems are fairly similar however.
On this system, you could give 10 points to 10 different unique users. Once those 10 points were given out, you could give a second point to the same user on the same day.
Basically, 1 person who you really admire - you give them 1 point. But you want to give them more right away? Give out the rest of your 9 points to unique users and the tally will be reset.

Trippy, it looks as if this rule was set so the system would not be abused. Of course you'll disagree with the same person on multiple levels - and multiple posts. But for this system to work properly, only 1 point can be given to the same person every 24 hours. Or 1 point per giving out 9 to others.

If it were to work in the fashion where you want to notify people about every single post you disagree with...People like Peregrine would have triple red blocks.

Then of course you could make a mule/troll. Instant 10 green blocks. The system just isn't meant to work like that, it would get abused.
