The Ritter Shield.

only issue with the -dmg is the op saying that the carrier was wearing only the shield and not the neck.

Really wasn't intending to provoke a Paladin debate here, which is why i put it in this section and not end-game discussion. Sort of a joke thread... aimed at those players who are definately not using this shield for some magical hidden latent effect of 2 / 4 % damage reduction. People with otherwise fantastic gear are using this, and not in combination with the gorget, and their reasons are either "to look cool" or because it's cheap as cheap.

As i said, it may have a niche use if this stupid un-validated point on wiki is true, but it in no way out-shines Koenig/Kaiser for PLD, 9 times out of 10.

Note: With regards to Parade Gorget and Shield Torque...

9 times out of 10, you should be:

1. Subbing NIN;
2. Bouncing hate with your co-tank; and
3. Stocked up on HP if your WHMs are any good.

This means that mostly you should be keeping your shadows up no problem.

It's important to note that when shadows are up you can't block, thus rendering Shield Torque useless while they *are* up. It's a macro piece for when shadows are down, and when you're casting.

Parade Gorget should be your idle neck piece, and there's no reason for it not to be. You may think you "have enough mp", but if you've got MP to spare then you should put it to some use. You can heal anyone else in your alliance, or you can make an equipment swap and lose/regain some HP for some hate yourself. In no way therefore is 1 tick refresh not worth it. (This being the exact reason why Ares' Cuirass is so sought after for PLD/NIN. Which, may I add, is also an idle piece and should not be full timed either.)

Sarameya and Cerb are almost two completely different monsters. Sarameya becoming stun resistant very easily makes for a completely different strategy. He aga's extremely often, which calls for a fire resist set, however getting ichi up is near impossible due to his attack speed. Ad to that a hate-shedding roar, and it's a much different fight altogether.

The only saving grace is at least you know exactly when Chainspells are coming so you can prepare for them.

It sounds different. A question or a tip tho. Dont you macro in a shit-ton of shield skill for your ichi cast? I've played ALOT of paladin not on my char, and i had like... 0% haste for ichi-cast, just shieldskill and dmg redux everywhere. There is really no need for any haste at all for ichi, the recast for that is kept short enough with just march and haste. Shield blocks is where its at for ichi cast. Very rarelly do i get interrupted by being hit, when in ichi gear. I even considered a swap that included the smalest type of shield so i could get maximum shieldblock possible. Dont even care it doesnt reduce much dmg, as long as blocks hit, my ichi goes through. Only reason i didnt do that is cause i love chivalry.
