People shouldn't have to play another job simply b/c it got nerfed or no one likes it, the whole cookie cutter thing is silly. You should play what you enjoy, if you don't enjoy it it's not quite "play" now is it? Where SE fucked up is they let people get too used to things before they decided it was overpowered, this drives to the heart of the hostility over it.

Yes, Rangers pay more per party. But that's what you agreed to when you took up the job. If you don't like the cost, level Woodworking and Alchemy or quit the job. And to be honest, I'd be happy with having to buy/synth some arrows when I've basically paid for all my endgame gear by about 52.

exactly, rangers pay more, we agreed to that when we took the job. Now the job we took isn't the job we took, it is something else. there is the complaint.

And a good one at that. If all of a sudden my H2H combat had to be unarmed i'd be pissed, which is as close a comparison as i can get to my current job. They should have given you some sort of ability to either ignore range for a certain ammount of time (i.e. focus or whatever) or added something to lose enmity on hits taken.

built in -emnity on barrage and ws's would allow rng to not be a solo ws machine. as it stands they will most likely either a)gimp their power by getting up close. b) hope they don't pull hate and make the other melee lose tp when the mob decides to give chase to the ranger.

I don't see why melee complained previously about not getting parties, did they suddenly forget they can't make parties? Seriously, If I was a dragoon I would've hit 75 ten times faster than any other(considering I had the gil to get above average equipment) because I would have...MADE A FUCKIN PARTY. Actually I've heard theres no real good range for you to stand at. If at one range your acc is good, your dmg is shit, and vice versa. I know melees and blms destroying rng dmg in xp pts today. Even as a melee I think SE went a lil overboard nerfing rngs >_>

Maybe it's just the fact I already had a lot of the gear rng needs to level with, but Ranger hasn't seemed very expensive to me. Even moreso, considering all the people I saw just gimping their way along because rng did so much more dmg.

Seriously though, trying to tell me a few days after the patch that ranger is dead? Yeah, sure.

One thing I'm going to have to try when I get the time, they changed the ratio where the closer you are the more accurate you are. They also changed the way the dmg is applied through skill level.

This means it may now be possable to equip mostly r.atk and Agi gear for close range, or r.acc gear for long range.

Even when all things are tried and tested *That's a ways off.* Ranger will not be the godly, over-powered class they were before. That's a good thing though.

Making parties as a low demand job is a lot of fun if you like camping RDM/WHM/BRD type jobs like they're fucking King Behemoth. And then having them decline because (suprise suprise) you don't have a RNG or a RDM or (insert other high demand job) and know that they CAN decline the invite from the MNK or DRK or DRG because 'they can do better.'

Alot of other people have/did, what makes them all that much better about it besides the time, money, and levels? it's one thing to make a point, it's quite another to be a raging dick about it to everyone who tries to engage you in conversation about it. Granted alot of people have been all "BOO HOO get the fuck over it, you tool" i was in that crowd before the update 'cause people went apeshit before the update even happened .. now i see the rng side of it and am more than happy to agree with alot of what's been said, just not the way it was said.
