The Squeeky Wheel Gets the Oil.

my rng is only39. i read and re-read the posts on this message board time and time again while on vacation. but despite it all i still desided to see for myself what became of rng now that the patch is out. and my feelings about it are still mixed.

i got a headache trying to sort out how i felt about it. findind the correct standing distance wasnt hard. and yes i was dissapointed at first with the dmg. but that isnt what upset me. the feeling of uniquesness seemed to be gone. i was starting to think of myself as a dark knight thathit from affar instead of close up. and oddly i felt a sence of simpathy for the melee characters thatgot passed over for the simple sake that we used to be able out DD them with ease simply for being a rng. and this goes double for monks and dragoons. i do belive that the amount our dmg was chopped was unfair but not that the class is dead. i have put my ranger on hold since my experiment last night until i sort out how i feel about this. but i think i will remain with the job. im the perseverent(sp) type.

to every lvl 75 monk and dragoon out there, u deserve the utmost respect cause u overcame unjust adversaty to get where u are. 2 wonderful classes that i still dont see why they are so unloved. to all the low lvl rng's like myself that are dealing with this patch give it time. things may change. to the high lvl rngs that are crying cause you have been de-throned from your HNM value, nothing i say will alter your POV's so i will leave u to your thoughs.

The problem, Meeze, was always that it didn't matter how I geared up, what I put in my search comment, etc. People saw RNG in the LFG list and MNK in the same list and I'd venture 80%+ of the time (if not more often) the /tell goes to the RNG and I keep watching Legends of the Hidden Temple on GAS.

And yeah, I won't argue there aren't gimped melees (the 50's DRG that didn't have a headpiece comes to mind, as does the 62 DRK/NIN that dual wielded swords) but people looked at job first and gear second for a very, very long time.

kinda how smn's get over looked for blms, then get forced into a healing role, but still get overlooked for whm? how would people of taken it had blm been nerfed so that smn could compete for the same party role?

It might make it bearable for me to level smn then.

It's coming Meeze. It's coming. People love watching the successful fall. I don't know how they'll do it. I've already noticed an influx of our server's less dedicated rangers - the ones that were only in it for big numbers, fast invites and a monopoly on anything endgame, flock over to Blm. We'll be the job of the month for people who don't care what they level, so long as they're in demand. The same thing that happenned to Ranger will happen to Blms. This is the part of the Ranger nerf that bothers me. I don't want "my" job's reputation sullied by the mindless masses that only look for quick gratification and big numbers. The rangers that have my sympathy are the dedicated rangers that stick with the job because it's what they enjoy. Anyone who's quit already for the next big thing doesn't get even a nice thought from me.

There's NO reason to be 'Seeking' unless you are being lazy...

I actively look Specifically for Samurai and Summoners.

Because:

100% of the Samurai and Summoners I met have been FUN, AWESOME PEOPLE! Note: Sabia, Zoolander, Ellyann....

The tool factor on most Rangers, Darks, Paladins, and now Red Mages is unbearable.

I don't care what gear you got or what you put in your search comment. If I am eithe Incompatable with you for Skillchain, or if you are a idiot or cock sucker, I will avoid you.

This is my sole problem with drgs. Maybe once they get wheeling thrust.

now tell me mr millions in rings, what the hell were you doing around lvl 70, 10 levels after assasin, just barely buying your first pair of agi rings
Gee I dunno...maybe it's because I was 10 levels above assasin when they added assassin and before that trick attack was not worth building a solo set for. Alone it used to do around 110 damage with +17 agility as it was, and could miss. Add to that the fact that Celerity rings aren't exactly spam material. I looked for two weeks on AH for those rings. GJ though, I know you tried hard.

Now I have an agility set that boosts trick attack to +27. Do any of the elitists care? No, I stopped getting invites when I hit 74 because everyone's mode is now set to "cluster ****" and not tactics. I can't blame them from 74-75. I can from 30-73.

When asshats in god linkshells sit there and try to tell me I didn't pull 7k an hour in my own party simply because I'm a thief and I partied with a dragoon, someone needs to be knocked off their throne and come join reality. Yes people, the game is made for dragoons, and dragoons are made for the game. They're not lawn ornaments. If people need nerfed to see that, then that's fine. I can't out DD a ranger, but I can be right there behind them. So can cubs. So can eleibfrid. But our invite rates NEVER reflected that.

That didn't answer the question though. You implied that gimps stay in Jeuno because people know they're gimps, and not because of their job. But then you send linkshell comments that outright state that the invite rates on your thief--not just thieves--is terrible. I assume that you're not half-assing thief because you're you and equipment is your thing, so which comments take priority? You telling meleers to pick themselves up by their own bootstraps, or you the meleer getting the invite rates that any thief gets?

Someone calling for a mage gimp? Hell, there's 6 slots in a party, 3 typically go to the 5 mage classes, 1 to a tank, leaving 7 jobs to compete for 1/3 of the positions. Mages are essential to doing any activity effectively, be it end game or exp. Melee jobs are never needed, tank jobs aren't always needed. Try fighting any mob that takes a level 70+ exp party to kill without a whm/rdm/smn/blm/brd, and you will likely die.

Thfs do have a crappy invite rate, most people know what type of gear they will be seeing if they invite me personally, it's the job they are not wanting. I can't change that, maybe I am not understanding you completely.

It's not that thieves are so unwanted, it's that there are so many of them. Do a /sea all thf, and a /sea all other melee jobs in the 40+ range, in the 60+ range, and in the 70+ range. You'll see a lot more thieves than other melee jobs almost always, with the exception of ranger. I've got invites while running around on my thief while not lfg quite a few times, just because there were none my level that were seeking.

Anyone else do the Mycophile NM in Carpenter's landing yet? He drops some rare/ex gloves that anyone that using seer's gloves should upgrade to. I would guess any level 50+ could solo him, and I've seen him drop the gloves 3/6 fights. He's a force spawn, 15 minute repop on the ???, it's through the entrance east of the outpost in jugner. All info here

Yup. I'm levelling up my black mage to 37 so I'm free to level up white mage and I got me a pair of those gloves along with the Pilgrim's Wand before I started. The drop rate for the gloves is pretty good. We fought it 7 times and got 3 pairs of gloves.

Anybody know what level this thing is, can a 42 BLM solo it?

Expensive (RNG) >>> Cheap (BLM).

You've obviously never leveled BLM very high. Nothing cheap about it, its probably the 2nd or 3rd most expensive job in the game.

Oh please tell me what costs so much? Let alone enough to warrent the title 2nd or 3rd most expensive job? Is it the Scrolls for Water IV, Flare, Quake, Stonaga II, and Tornado that cost a whopping 1,000,000 G collectively? Or the Elemental Staves? The Rings? Cause I can tell you right now, One single ring I possess costs more than all of your gear and spells combined.
Basically it is all dependant on how well you play the job as well. I didn't need Snipers +1, and you don't need the HQ ele Staves. However, if you want to be the best, it would be nice to have. On that note, some of the best BLM gear comes free, or has to be hunted (Moldevite Earring, Shaman's Cloak, and AF come to mind), whereas any Melee must purchase the greater majority of thier equiptment.

To paraphrase you, it's obvious YOU haven't played any job very high. Blm is probably the 2nd or 3rd Cheapest job in the game.

In regaurds strictly to the comparison, Rng costs more than Blm, i really don't think there is any argument there. It is just a matter of fact.
