~*~*~* The Ups, and Downs of Square-Enix Game*~*~*~

Good: SquarE makes games that are fun. It can be frustrating at times, but usually fun. A lot of this is how you play the games, too.

Bad: I forgot to put someone on my ignore list... I'll be right back. (Go play Warcraft if you enjoy it that much, sheesh.)

Ugly: The bear in Ikari's seal thing. Also, what is with the Japanese and little girls? Re: Compare Prishe and the Court Puppetmaster in ToAU (who is 15 years old, by the way).

The japanese are the #1 pedophiles in the world.

A lot of these "downs" people are listing are normal MMORPG functions. Timesinks folks. They're in place to get you to pay that money as long as possible.

Ive only read one that said about timesinks. But I do agree about how its too vague a down. hell... most single player games are timesinks, just to an extent. MMORPGs are supposed to never end while single player games are meant to last a day with little replay value. The one game ive managed to go back to and play was Spider-man 2, because I love the swinging physics... lol

Good: the changes to SAM making it a decent sub job

Bad: people forcing me to sub NIN and not letting me f*ckin use my SAM sub

I dissagree with wolf's comment. It takes skill to do the things that mean more. Whm, is probably one of the only "laid back" jobs that requires some sort of literacy; is that not a skill? Brd is one of the only jobs you can get away with to 75 without skill. Just hit a couple macros and go to bed. soloing brings a whole new aspect in; you have to do damage AND mainheal yourself AND tank. this doesnt go for bst because their pets are the tanks, but other solo jobs require much skill to pull off great exp gain.

Good: The ability for certain jobs to solo all the way to 75 at will. There is also the part about where soloing = freedom = dont give a crap about gear.

Bad: the pressure PARTIES put on the members to be the best. I personally pressure the best too, but its for them to be able to do their best. If they are doing their best but still failing, we might do something different.
While it's impressive the ammount of time someone is willing to level a job to 50 or higher solo, it's essentially irrelevant. They'd take 10x less time with parties, and by soloing they don't know how to function properly in a party. I'd be more likely to go with someone on their first job who's partied the whole way than someone on their 10th who solo'd the entire time, because the person who's partied will be more versed in what's needed to function in a group.

Also, I don't find your bad a negative at all; at the point where your performance effects other players, then you should be trying your best. While some expectations are unrealistic, just having some standards is not a bad thing. I want to kick every monk who levels past 50(giving them far more than enough time to farm/camp) without a brown belt; but people just accept shitty gear as normal now and that's a bad thing. If you're not willing to do your best, and that includes gear/subjobs, don't turn your flag on.

doing your best and Being the best are two different things... a retarded kid can run a race, and do his best, and still be last. >.>

Doesn't mean they shouldn't even try to get good. I'll never have the same gear as some of the super rich players, so I'll be slightly "less good" than them, but it sure as hell doesn't mean I don't try. You're just trying to excuse people for sucking.

and you're trying to justify being an elitest. Your comment about soloing is slower than pts... wrong lol. The time a drg spends seeking for pt is about 2-6 hrs... and then they might get an invite for about 30 min of pt. within those 6 hrs of seeking, a drg solo can get up to 25k exp if its in the right lv range.

EDIT: spent about 2 hrs in a pt and got 8k exp and felt it wasnt worth the trouble of seeking. Went out and got 10.5k exp soloing in a few hours and got lv 65. Im done with lesser colibri and im glad kuz im tired of pissin hardhead party members off with "taking their mobs" when they aren't claimed and are in an area that can support 2 parties.

So your saying if everyone is richer than you, and thier standards are so much higher than yours that they should kick you?

Not arguing your point, am arguing what you said.

Say your the retarded kid now, as you are right now. But say everybody else is way way better than you, and richer. Thier standards are so high that you cannot achieve them, should they kick you out of every party?

Should you be so black and white or should there also be a gray area?

Hey Darkdante, there's a whole other thread that's covering this line of discussion so that this thread can stay on topic. Try going there before shooting your mouth off.

Hey now.

If you didn't go shooting off your mouth I wouldn't have argued with you in the first place. How bout you just answer the question and look like the jackass that you are then running with your tail between your legs to the flameboard where your boyz got your back?

Fine, since you're content to continue to derail this thread like a child rather than take it to the thread that was made for this derail, I'll respond.

You're not arguing what I said, I don't know where the hell you're getting that argument from. At no time did anyone say or even imply that money was the factor in people's standards, so you completely pulled that out of your ass. What I said was that I will probably never have the money to buy all HQ versions of my endgame gear, so that technically my character would be "inferior" to someone with that much money. Despite the fact that I probably won't be able to afford cursed -1 or something equally expensive, I still try to get the best gear that I can. Excusing people for not wanting to spend 20k on useful gear IS excusing them for sucking.

I have better gear than most people I'm leveling against until 70+, mainly due to the fact that I have endgame jobs that have already gotten a bunch of that gear, but I still have the same standard of minimal NQ gear. If they have the NQ version of the latest gear for their level, and it's actually useful, I don't have a problem with their gear. Once again, which people ignore and you obviously never bothered to read, I'm only complaining about the people who are massively gimp.

So there, your whole "argument" was bullshit and completely irrelevant to the topic, since there was no mention of anything about it. Anyone who would kick someone because they don't see all white/blue boxes IS a dick; but I haven't seen that happen ever.

Since reading comprehension seems to be a problem here............

How about I make it plain and simple?

The retarded kid is trying his hardest. So are you. But what if your hardest is not good enough? Is it then alright to kick you (the retarded kid) out of the party, even though your trying your hardest?

Again I say I see your point, but you stupidly tried to say that a retarded kid trying his best was equivalent to not trying at all.

Go read back what you said.

If you're "retarded enough" that you can't scrounge up 30k in the game to pay for some decent armor, then you should just quit. This game is not so difficult that there's really any difference between intelligence of the players. If putting any effort into this game is too much for you, quit, because you're just wasting your and everyone else's time.

If you can't figure out what to do to make money, ask someone, but don't ask like you want them to give you money or want them to reveal any money making secrets to you. Just a simple "hey, what would be available at my level to make some money, any ideas?" My complaint of these people is that they're not farming at all for better gear, that they're obviously not trying. You seriously would have to be retarded to not even want some of the better gear out there, and these people aren't trying to get even the most basic gear.

There is nothing in the game that makes you stronger/hit harder just because you're trying hard enough; it's gear that does that. Getting decent gear doesn't take much time or effort, and saying you're trying but it's not good enough is a bullshit excuse for being a waste of a party slot in this game.

Looks like that's what he said, and that's not the point you saw, or you wouldnt' be talking.

You say, "What if your hardest isn't good enough?" I say, if you can't even sit down and farm 100k in a week, get the hell off FFXI. There's no such thing as someone's "hardest" being as pitiful as some of the gimps you can find out there.

Now come on, seriously, the thread you're looking for is: http://qcdn.org/showthread.php?t=35194

ooookay... I hit edit, and instead it makes a new post. Makes sense to me.

forgot to add something else.
3- FFXI has alot of sensative emos like the ones above who think people care if they are ignored by a nobody!.They take everything personal like u see above.
4- FFXI turns people into assholes.I'm not saying everyone who plays FFXI is an asshole but when people compete against each other waiting for a stupid jelly to pop guess what!? they get furstrated n say stuff n it leads to them flaming each other n what not.in my opinion this game should have something that would reward players for being a good sport. But too bad things like fleehacking provoke botting MPK stealing mobs and etc actually put you ahead of the other player. And o yea everyone gets to party.Even syliph would get invites.
5- The healing jobs are less Fun-er!.No offense but the role of rdm and whm in parties is plain boring. Why can't enix make it so u don't have to be a refresh whore or a heal bot but still have ur own role in a party
6-The melee jobs are very similar to each other.Besides an ability that's ready every 2 hrs there isn't a BIG ENOUGH difference in jobs.
7- The expansion packs don't have much content.Few areas and etc don't cut it for 30 bucks buddy.Lots of mmoprgs out there release more content in free updates than Enix does in xpacs.
8-The whole JP vs NA clash. Why why why!? don't see why they have same servers for both JP and NA.They are from different parts of the world n it's really hard to just mix em up.Besides that JPs had a head start on us and they get to chose in which directions crafts are headed to.
9- RMT are a big deal in FFXI.Yes RMT exist in many games but they have little to no impact on economy. But since u need NMs and HNms in FFXI to get gear.... the RMT competition actually effects ur gaming experience by a shit ton.
These are some of the things i don't like about FFXI.I think they can all be fixed easily too.I still play FFXI n would ofcourse
