I want to state first that I have never personally fought this NM but would love to sometime in the near future. I bring this debate back because there were a few uh... "people" as they like to call themselves at night ... posting AV thoeries or so called thoeries in the PW thread.

What I would like in this thread is to have those who have experienced AV 1st hand or stories of AV posted in here. Thoeries such as "Synthing a Virtue stone" will not be welcomed here.

I have a very solid thoery but I have yet to test it and I have no idea whether or not ReUnited would assist me in calculating it.

Where to begin since I have no 1st hand experience? Well, the AV video that the dev team built is the only solid thing to go on. I've not only used the Video to watch but also used Wikia's script of what occurred during the video.

What can be determined from the video.

Another post coming - 1st was too big

More details

The first zoom in phase.
A PLD dies and another PLD 2hrs

And then theres a baraera at the same time (I believe to have zero reasoning for the zooming)

What is important is. During the first zoom in phase. One of the PLD dies and the other uses his 2hr. This is more or less to show you that there is a 2 hour gap between each phase outs, because this same PLD uses his 2hr again at the same time AV does.

Absolute Virtues 1st 2hr is displayed and shown to us. (This does not mean it was the 1st time he used a 2hr.)

Absolute Virtue uses Soul Voice:
Mass swarm of players use their 2-hours. The Importance? Multiple reasons.

1) They had no warning what 2hr would be used.
2) To once more explain the Black out after this scene? Possibly but probably not entirely accurate.

The end effect of this Scene? Until I can test that, this is speculation. Soul Voice was locked OR, to which I highly doubt, all his 2-hours are locked for another 2 hours.

Another of Absolute Virtue's 2hr is displayed to us. Why? To show us there are two ways AV uses and abuses his powers.

Absolute Virtue readies Chainspell
/wait 1
Absolute Virtue uses Chainspell

2 Black mages use Manafont (I feel there is either a connection to this or theyre just idiots and dont know how to read.)

A RDM uses Chainspell. ~ End of wave on 2hr.

Why was this 2hr different then AV readyies the 2hr? EVERYONE else knew not to 2hr except two of their local idiot BLM and the RDM.

The end effect is that Absolute Virtue's Chainspell is now locked if I follow the same speculation.

The last important 2hr (One was used near the very end but it still fell anyways) Absolute Virtue uses is now shown to us.

Absolute Virtue uses Call Wyvern

Another but smaller swarm of 2hrs are used
And one JA is used... Call Wyvern (Yes I'm aware it use to be the 2hr for DRG) which is why it stands out. The Dev team points this 2hr out most importantly because EVEN though Call Wyvern is a JA now, to AV it is still his 2hr and it must be prepared und Dragoons or A DRG must fight w/o the use of his/her wyvern until AV uses Call Wyvern.

End of clip... AV dies, Relic Weapon Skill and bunch of people clapping yadda yadda yadda.

~Deep breath... holy shit what a long and rather detailed speculation i just wrote...

What I want to point out to people before you go posting is that did the dev STOP AV's 2hr abuse? Yes Absolutely, and that was the point of the video. Not the timeline and not people who seem to have appeared to have job changed during the video.

When AV used a 2hr and everyone followed suit with 2-hours, did it stop AV's use of that 2hr? NO, it absolutely did not... He still used BRD songs during Soul Voice, He still spammed spells during Chainspell (Aeraga IV, then Aero V as the example shows), He still called a Wyvern or w.e its called Wynauv?.

This is where testing ~needs~ to be done for this or links for me to follow. AV's 2-hours ARE locked (either temporaily or permenantly) Job-by-job 2hr.

To me this seems like a simple "Simon says" game and where i see sage-sundi says the secret was in the video.

Begin discussion and keep fucking Pandemonium Warden out of this, he's not the same mob.

I also dont have any experience with AV, but it is in my nature to try to find someway around this NM simply because of his difficulty. Yes i am also interested in taking him down, but one thing I dont quite understand from you post Moink is what do you mean by "locking" AV's 2hr? He still uses it, but hes locked? Could you elaborate? Maybe its just my noobishness or did i miss something?

The 2hr that he uses in each of the scenes are STILL used. If you watch the video he still... ( I swore I said all of this) Chainspells magic, still spawned a pet, still used songs during Soul Voice (which probably means it still active)

What happens after is people try to match his 2hr. When they do, it prevents any future 2hrs of the same nature.

One thing I can add since there was another 2hr at the end. Maybe its minor but it could also hint too not lock every single 2hr. Lock the important ones like Invincible Mijin Bene etc. etc.

I think what the dev team wanted to show us is that you don't lock its 2H, you just eat them, and when you wipe, you got a backup alliance or something. 1 rdm/thf does diaga > flee when the wynav pop, so there is an extra party/alliance killing them or they will come back and manaburn you.

The way I see it is having 2 alliances with hate from AV, when one dies AV target the next one and by the time he reaches it, his 2H is no longer active. repeat.

After all Sage Sundi said that you need 18H to kill it or 10H with luck in the order of 2H he does. If you get lucky each alliance will damage AV during 4-5 2H, then AV will switch to the other alliance.

The world would explode somewhere if agreed with that statement...

I would agree with you on that if it wasn't for them using 2hrs especially when they had no need too. during the 1st 2hr phase 3 of their main WHM Burned COMPLETELY their 2-hours... and for no better reason then what? 72-100 hp...

The wyvern that was Diaga'd, yes, so if it was fled away it was prob done by a thf/whm then fled away.

It's a rdm/thf taru, it appears in one of the videos.

Retracting that... Its beside point of what was done to wyvern. its the 2hrs

It's been done.

The general consensus of end game players have agreed on a very simple answer:

His 2 hours are lockable, by one of the many strategies put into effect, but the effort, manpower, and time required to test, and even once proven, execute such a strategy and live long enough to kill AV, is not worth the rewards.

Sage Sundi said himself that AV is expected to take eighteen hours to kill. We don't have any idea how long the dev team took to kill AV, and no one has tried to do this for more than 6 or 7 hours.

This dead horse has had enough of a beating. Every strategy you could possibly post has been tried. It either works or it doesn't, and if it does, chances are no one is going to care anyway because it just takes way too long.

Retracting that... Its beside point of what was done to wyvern. its the 2hrs

But I remember reading that the dev team said killing the Wynavs was also crucial..........then again, the dev team tends to be full of shit.

So by locking the 2hrs it means it cant use that specific 2hr again at a later time to deliver some pwnage then? I see ^^

Maybe your right, but QCDN isn't the general consensus. It takes part in it but its not the source.

I agree that it is ridiculously long and very hard to put together, but its not impossible or imposing to players who still try for that divine goal to kill it.

I'll make this a little blunt. I like how (in so many words and politely) you told me to end the discussion, but it appears there are some people who do actually care about killing or even testing out What the dev team has done.

I've seen people talk about how it doesn't work, but they didnt do anything out of the ordinary and regardless of how long or how many times it took, they got it done.

I've looked around through forums for AV Strats and couldn't find any that didnt get derailed, argued over about SE hacking it, or just buried and too old to be of any value.

Now that I look again, I realize that, holy crap, your right.

Its the same guy that two hours at the beginning of each phase. the pld using invinvible.

I think you may have well figured out the trick. The blackouts and zoom ins are to show us that its in 2 hour increments, which may be how long the 2 hour is locked...

Thus...

Using the same 2 hour as AV within a certain period, locks his 2 hours... for 2 hours. So according to the video, if you pull it off, AV will only 2 hour 3-4 times, thus, if you're right, that means they expect us to pull it off in 6-8 hours.

Thats a hell of a lot less than 18 hours.

I think you sir may've very well figured out the video finally.

I'll take a second look and see if the same guy 2 hours on the last blackout gimme a sec.

Its a possibility they are still critical to kill, no real evidence from the video since the RDM Diaga'd it then fled away... (Probably, if true, to a party to kill it away from main allaince).

Sage Sundi saying it could take 18 hours to kill could mean alot of things really. Most mobs save Benediction like players do, wait til near dead then use it, Making you work AV down all over again. Being lucky would mean AV used it near the beginning and was then locked because of it.

That PLD only uses Invincible twice throughout the video(Both within the same day if i recall). Although I dont think they match the timeline very well. (the day in which the 1st was used is very hard to determine.)

Ok, I think I got it figured out...

First scene with AV...

Pld (elmaulle) uses invincible, it then blacks out...

Second scene, AV pops soul voice, everyone 2 hour,s including the pld, signifying 2 hours has passed.

BUT the bard that uses soul voice seems to hesitate a few seconds before 2 houring, and lo and behold, AV pops another 2 hour not 15 seconds later, chainspell. THIS time the rdm pops chainspell almost immediately after, and even after a good 30 secs to a minute, AV hasn't 2 houred. Thus, he has been locked for 2 hours.

Blackout.

Next scene. Once again a barrage of 2 hours, signifying that AV's 2 hour is now no longer locked and he should be 2 houring any time now.

Right on que, Call wyvern. And right after, the dragoon uses call wyvern also.

I can;t quite make it out, but does anyone else see what looks like him releasing his wyvern and repopping it right around then?

Either way, what they are saying is:

First time av 2 hours, they hesitate to return the soul voice, and he then 2 hours again not 30 secs later, showing that there IS a time limit.

Second time AV 2 hours, the rdm chainspells practically with him. Then after a little bit it blacks out, showing that Av hasn't 2 houred yet.

Finally on the third 2 hour it shows call wyvern, this is to say that "oh, even though it's no longer the drg's 2 hour, we're showing you that it does count as a counter measure."

And if I'm correct, didn't the guy who left switch to dragoon?

Maybe thats cause they realized after locking it they'd need one to lock the incoming dragoon 2 hour in a little bit?

So they sent the guy to go grab it and brb? Makes sense, no?

Normally when yuo kite them away you kite them to mijun

Has there been any discussion around this on the BG forums? Sounds like a promising idea to me.

AV was locked during soul voice... you'r putting 2 of the scenes together when theyre far apart, thunder to ice day. the two scenes were meant to show you the 2 different ways AV uses his 2-hours. Considering Thundersday to Iceday is like 6 hours

and for GP it may have been kited with in range for them not to mijin and even if they did, they would be locked considering the DRG used CW.

I couldnt find any that didnt involve idiots in it or lame ideas, so i passed most up. This, to me is very defyning... and very easy to pass up or overlook when your looking at who was what job and wtf happened during the black outs

Sage Sundi saying the fight takes 18H, 10H or less if you are lucky in the order of 2h means 2 things :

1) You cannot lock its 2H, because if you can you don't need luck. All the good LSs that tried AV have wiped precisely on 2Hs, they could hold him infinately.

2) If you are unlucky try again ..
