I will buy back an Amenmit+1. We can take a little trip, and test your theory. Get the parsers on and see how much this really adds up too.

Do it. Parse 150 fights, 50 with amemet+1, 50 with forager's mantle, and 50 with nothing on. Have a friend pick from 3 numbers from a hat to decide what trial you're on...have them put it on your character so you don't know which you're playing. Do not skillchain or change equipment. Just pure melee for 50 fights on the same mob sets. At the end of 50 fights, have the friend pick from another setup from the hat.

I will guarantee you that your +1 strength will up and disappear like a fart in the wind, and the parse data will show that. 50 fights is very small though. I'd rather you do 100 per trial on the same mobs, but we all know that'll never happen. Heck, 50 will never happen. We'll just have morons continue to spend 1.3 million gil on blind-faith that they really are being the best they think they are.

Lets do it. you can sit there was watch. because Im sure you wasted more time arguing here then it would take. Id be willing to wager something on it. :P

Set it up and give me the date. I want it blinded. I want mob difficulty control. I want 2000 fists per trial done my way (the right way) or no way. I'm the only one capable of statistically analyzing this data to any degree of usefulness, and I need data good enough to claim that a small difference is significant. That can't happen without strict control. If it's done right, I can tell you what 1 strength point does to a melee set.

How about this saturday? If Skaw agrees, we can get him and Im sure Makz will be willing to come. We can get 3 differents MNKs to test out this theory of yours.

Jesus, its like talking to a 2yearold.
And he walks around, high and mighty, thinking he is
intelligent and mature, when in fact my 15 year old
brother defends and validates points better then he does.

"Im better then you", "You are stupid", "You buy gil",
"I dont wanna answer you", "I think i know where you are
comming from, and im gonna pretend to be better then that".

All good and well. Powerfull arguments for your point of wiew
indeed. Im impressed, really i am. The intelligence is shining
through there.

And for the last frikkin time, stop being so damned shortsighted.
Its not about the +1 difference in the Forager and Amemit that does
the trick. Thats not the reason you buy it. Do you really think that
a person who buys the foragers mantle is gonna settle for NQ
everywhere else? No, he fucking isnt. He'll keep getting that HQ
gear. And hes gonna end up with 10 more str then the NQ mnk.
15 maybe. Not from one big piece of equipment. But from several
pieces. That has +1-+4 over the NQ in str. Like the Foragers mantle.
1 piece alone, not so significant. All the pieces together, big difference.
And no peregrine, we arent dropping out on acc to get it. We do this so
we can keep the acc. Its HQ gear. It has more str then the NQ you see.
So we can keep our acc gear. Now, i know this confuses you and baffles
your mind. But i made it as clear as i can for you. Can you please try
to connect the dots.

You can do it, i know.
I have faith in you. Add up the HQ gear. The crazy 1mil for 1 str gear.
Take it slow if you want to, its ok. One at a time. Add em up.
Come on peregrine you can do it!
How much are we up to? +5? ok a lil more. Keep adding big boy.
+10 now? Want to stop there? Ok, getting 10 extra str is a decent
amount of gil. So lets look at it again Peregrine.

Are you ready to agree with me that having +10 str then someone
else at the same job, with the same acc, is gonna make a difference?
Bang your brain against that for a while. And tell me the results
tomorrow.

More like they have something to prove and they can't do it in the game, because the piece isn't worth half what they paid for it. And that's not just a vague statement...lol because amemet+1 IS half of what they paid for it, and no parser could detect the difference between the two.

I wonder who truly feels they have something to prove: Is it the 10 random people in that screenshot of the AH that was posted up? Or is it the person who started this thread to begin with, and feels the need to validate his arguments by bringing up all kinds of "I can prove I'm smarter than you IRL" crap?

Here's a nifty question for this whole thread:

Who hoenstly gives a shit what someone else's stats do on EQ they bought unless they're all gimpy and all in yer pt. How tweaked can your nipples possibly get over something you're not going to take part in?

OMG that person bought EQ they wanted .. what a fucking douche .. stfu already 30 pages over +1 str is retarded.

Honestly, psych 100. Word of the day, kiddos, is: Insignificance.

Kinda funny this line came from someone getting pissy about 1 str

My guess is someone would pay that much for gear they want b/c they can and don't need to check with you about it to feel validated, pere. It's not the mantle that's a waste of time, it's this thread/argument.

And yet you're here trying to get the last word. Forager's mantle buyers try to validate themselves in order to cover their invalidity. What a harsh harsh reaction from people who are soooo much better than I am.

More like they have something to prove and they can't do it in the game, because the piece isn't worth half what they paid for it. And that's not just a vague statement...lol because amemet+1 IS half of what they paid for it, and no parser could detect the difference between the two.

Um.. i don't have a foragers mantle .. i could give a shit about the last word or taking potshots at you, i just think the entire premise for this conversation at this point is ridiculous and you're doing yourself no credit by acting like a 5yr old about it. What a harsh harsh reaction from someone who gives entirely too much of a shit about other peoples gear. I don't really need to post to this anymore, the more you post the more ignorant and petty you look. This could have been a logical discussion about stats but it's much more suiting to belittle everyone else's opinions, call them names, and rant on about something that really is of no consequence to anyone in particular.

Btw, everything in the game is worth exactly what's paid for it .. otherwise it wouldn't sell, YOUR OPINION is exactly that an opinion, can't argue with facts they tend not to change based on your perceptions.

Post again and get pissed at me for some percieved attempt at insulting you, pere. It just proves the point that you give entirely too much of a shit about other people's gear.

Read the thread, dipshit. First, I'm not here so that you can tell yourself that you could have been a doctor some day as you sit behind some middle-management marketing desk. I don't like to make it a point that I'm probably more intelligent than you are, that my IQ is probably higher, that I earn more money and have more skills and knowledge than you ever will, and that not only am I smarter than you...but I've tapped more potential than you have because of education. You all simply force the issue with petty remarks. You want to get petty and mock my sig? I'll get high. I'm smarter than you, runt. You're a nobody. Lol where do you work...EB? What'd you get on the ACT? 22? I ran division one Track and Field in the SEC, where I earned 1st team academic all-american. All-american, 2-bit. Don't touch my sig, kid, because you're nothing compared to me when we log off. Don't make me remind you. This is beyond out of bounds, but you went here first. I personally love it when they go here.

Second, it's not like I haven't reminded the tagalongs who haven't read the thread before, but here goes again: Skaw claimed to out-melee-damage a monk. He claimed he out-melee'd this monk when the only difference between him and his partner was 1 strength point in his favor and 10% accuracy in the other monks favor. That is...skaw claimed that 1 strength point > 10% absolute accuracy when it comes to DoT (nonweaponskill damage over time). That is, he was trying miserably to argue that +1 strength was worth paying for.

And here's the thing, alanon...just like caerloc, you're too stupid to realize that you posted that you agreed with skaw...that 1 str>10% absolute acc. Re-read the thread. Nono...read the thread for the first time. You blatantly jumped on the sinking ship without even looking.

I'm a gimp who is at the university to be in studies? lol you're a nobody with average intelligence who really doesn't matter. Is that why you build your online character so high and act so elite online? To compensate for a failed life? Ohhh I just LOVE the direction the more petty people in the group take these conversations. When you take it to the real world, kid, I own you every time. I put my status in my sig because I'm proud of it. I also put it in there to flush out the morons who would mock that real-life title. You're one of them.

Boy you are a presumptuous little twat aren't you? You want a dick-swinging contest? Fine.

You want my ACT score? 34. This is back when the perfect score was 36 and before they dumbed down the test and allowed the use of calculators and the like. Sure, I graduated high school with a measly 2.9, but the ACT score was still enough to get me into one of the top private engineering schools in the country, where I graduated early with an engineering degree and a minor in applied physics. I later went on to get my MBA. I am certified with Microsoft, SCO, Cisco, IBM and a bunch of other stupid little, colorful yet useless certificates. I am considered by my peers to be among the best at what I do. The State Supreme Court calls me for advice, and the FBI has offered me a job, but can't quite eclipse my current "low" salary. I have spoken at different national conventions in Las Vegas, NY and New Orleans. Yes, I'm really not too bright and fail to compare to a college punk....

On to the original thread… The stats are better on the forager for any melee NOT a Thf or a Rng. I'm sure that +15 ranged attack really makes a difference on those two pulls a night when I actually hit. I'm sure the difference will be even greater after 63 when I'm pulling with darts. Period. This is not up for debate.

For your original thread, the economy: This is a very simple concept. The forager is rare and harder to obtain and of greater use to more classes, hence the increase in price.

For someone who is a self-proclaimed genius, you are the damned dumbest smart person I have ever seen. You seem to have the hardest time wrapping your large brain around simple concepts. It's not once, or twice but repeatedly.

I can see this being another one though 60 page ones

ok so for all you that dont want to read 30 pages

this flame has pretty much slip into 3 diffent flames

flame 1 is the forager mantle worth the 1.2 mil
over the amemet mantle +1
not forager is +1 str -1 def -15 ranage attack from the amemet

flame 2 can a hum monk beat a elven mnk if the hum mnk has 1 more str and the eleven has 10% acc.

flame 3 is Peregrine and idiot for saying that the amemet is not worth the 1.2 mil extra and the money can go else where, and that the +1 str does not make a big enough diffence to pay the 1.2 mil

Skill > Equipment

You need both, even if being meleer requires no skill... you still need both.

If you have skill already, having top notch equiptment only improves your ability to be better.

Neo, go die somewhere if you think being a melee requires no skill. There are MANY unskilled and untalented melee's out there, most of them just don't have a clue. The ones who have a clue and know what they're doing wear the gear that helps them out the most for thier job, that includes the differences between races too, and making up for those differences.

You don't have to wear HQ to be good or even great at your job if you've got the know how of what your doing. Wearing the HQ simply improves upon your ablities if you know what your doing.

/RantOn Example of freaking moronic Drks that I see walking around all the time (infuriates me to no end, but I don't lash out at them), the ones who think is cool to wear Mythril armor. That armor offers no benefits to a Drk at all, it has def.. wtf do we need defense for. We aren't tanks. Sure it has a cool style, but functionality.. NO. There's that peice of checkerwear that just sooo much better, its not as spiffy looking but it helps you do your damn job better. And any Drk that thinks thief full AF is cool to exp in... Here's a Noose, go hang yourself. /RantOff

About the only job that Mythril gear my actaully be an option for would be warrior, but then.. checkerwear (brigand?) is still better.

Eh.. this whole topics gone XD.. go go mini flames.

after reading the first page and the last 6 pages to this thread, here is what i have concluded in this point in time (9/26/05 Monday Morning):

--------

The average price of a Forager's Mantle is 2.63 million gil
The stats of the mantle are 7def, 3str, 15atk, lvl 71

The average price of an Amemet Mantle +1 is 1.39 million gil
The stats of the mantle are 8def, 2str, 15atk, 15ratk, lvl 61

The average price of an Amemet Mantle is 4.6 thousand gil
The stats of the mantle are 7def, 1str, 10atk, 10ratk, lvl 61

--------

The difference between an Amemet Mantle+1 and an Amemet Mantle:
+1.39~ million gil, +1def, +1str, +5atk

The difference between an Amemet Mantle +1 and a Forager's Mantle:
-1.24 million gil, +1def, -1str, -10lvls

--------

What i have been told about STR is that it works on a curve. That a +1 str difference is very noticable at lower levels than it is at higher lvls. I heard this when the whole 'how much does 1 dex effect your acc' thing was going on in forums. What i had pictured in my mind is a 'y = square root(x)' curve in my head. (sorry for making this math oriented... couldn't explain curve in any other way). So the more and more str you add onto your character, the less you'll see a difference, BUT there is a difference nonetheless.

The question which i thought was being asked based from the beginning of the thread is: Why pay 1.24 million gil more for +1 str?

--------

From what i've read, the parser won't decide anything. For one, you didn't fight the same mob the whole time. That's the only way in my mind that +1 STR is truly going to show. For each battle in an xp party, i think the difference in 1 str will not show because, those are short battles. The mob is dead too quick. But in those long long battles that wind up being half an hour or etc long, then yes... that +1 str should show. How much of that difference will show? who knows? Also is chi blast dmg also included in the parser? I forget if that's str related or vit related.

I also understand that you can have a bad day when xping. i've had all the acc i could muster at times and couldn't hit a mob to save my life while another person with same race and job and worse armor than me had no trouble hitting the mob. It happens. Just goes to show that just because you have the better armor doesn't meant you will perform better than another 100% of the time. But tossing all that aside, i can't goto the AH, look for a mantle, and say "oh, that mantle has 1 more str than this mantle... i'm gonna cough up another 1.24 mil and buy that one instead.' And if i did do that, please slap me. I know the value of my gil that i worked too hard to get. And if you think i'm going to buy a piece of armor that has only 1 more str after farming for who knows how long to get a million gil, you're mistaken. If 1.24 mil is chump change to you, go get a forager's mantle... more power to ya... as long as you know how to do your job well.

In all actuality, these prices shouldn't even be this high, only because we never recovered after SE gimped npc strong/padded cap sales (rusty cap synthing) and the fishing procedure. Man... those were good times.. when all you needed was lvl 0 fishing skill, a composite rod, and a rogue rig and the money just came to you /fish macro by /fish macro. Ok, getting off topic...

In terms of why one is so much more expensive... forager's is collected in an ENM while the lvl 60 leathercraft synthed Amemet +1 mantle needs an ingredient from an NM. Due to lack of inexposure i dunno which one is harder to get, the skin or the forager's mantle in the ENM battle. These pieces of armor are both in the back armor section so the different armor slot variable is gone, which leaves difficulty to be obtained. In our already over-inflated economy, the harder things are to obtain, the higher their price. I would assume that the forager's is harder to get than the amemet skin. So this ENM must be very much more difficult than getting a drop needed from an NM ANDthen HQing a lvl 60 synth. What the heck kind of ENM are we talking about here?

Now, is the forager's better than the amemet +1? Yes.... but is it worth being lvl 71 and losing 1.24 million gil for? imho, it's not. But i do see where each side of the argument is coming from though. Sorry for the long post... ^^;

Now, is the forager's better than the amemet +1? Yes.... but is it worth being lvl 71 and losing 1.24 million gil for? imho, it's not. But i do see where each side of the argument is coming from though. Sorry for the long post... ^^;

Just to clear this up immediately with regard to the monk question:

Chi Blast is mind-related. Str is for base melee damage, attack (2 str = +1 attack) and some weaponskill damage (one reason to have it as high as possible). Vitality is used for defense (2 VIT = 1 def), a possible physical resist, and Chakra for monks.

Monk's meleeing gear (which should be VERY different from their chi blast gear) goes on an ACC > STR > ATT > DEX scale, basically. STR and ATT are basically a matter of personal preference, but lots of monks like the str.
