Thoughts on Red Mage Maat @ 66

I'm fairly certain Maat scales with you, in level anyway. He was just as difficult at 66, 68, 70x2 and 75. The only difference was me screwing up less.
he does. Also, he doesnt get Asuran Fists untill 70, so if you're afraid of it (with good reason) you can try him before it and not worry about it.

the hell he dont he raped me with asuran fist at 68. also make sure to dispel at begining even though you did not see him cast spell he like to cast shell before you enter arena. though i to would recomend you wait to 70.

I waited until I was 70 rdm to beat maat and managed to beat him 1/2. You don't really get that much time to beat him, it goes by quicker than you think since it's 10 mins. So you really don't want to spend so much time sleeping and all that enfeebling and enhancing yourself and such.

The first time I lost because I ran out of time, otherwise if I had 5 more mins at least I could've beaten him 1/1. I didn't need any meds, yet I was lucky at least one of my sleeps stuck on, but I went in, nuked him once with an Aero III and my elemental and int was enough to do about 300 and something dmg to him if I remember correctly.

Slept him after that one nuke, dispelled at least his protect and shell so I could nuke him for more dmg. Don't remember if I really binded him, but nuked and slept him again, made sure I was fully healed, converted, gave myself one cure IV, chainspelled and just kept spamming aero IIIs on him as fast as I could then he was dead.

My advise is to not try it. I beat Maat at 69, thats true. But I tried two times at 68 and failed both times(may I add these were mainly my own fault too, but still my sleeps getting resisted was the ultimate demise). Also everyone says darksday is the way to go, but I found iceday more usful then darks...Bind stuck so well he never got a hit off me, just casted a spooty debuff that my blink ate.

If you try it good luck, its possible, just the differance in skill between 66 cap and 69 is noticable(of course my skills were not capped at 69, in fact they were closer to level 68, but still).

Better off going on the day of the strongest nuke you have. Its almost 50/50 that sleep/sleep2 will stick on every cast. the 5 times I fought him, he never used a tp move, just casted weak nukes/enfeebs and kicked me in the face a few times. If you have the mp, just dispell his shell, bind and waste him with nukes.

Don't listen to that.

I am a firm believer in going on Darks day I ended up 1/4 but did freakin awesome on darks day. Ended up not using any of my meds and sleep only got resisted 2-3 times. My last 2 spells we stone III cause I was low and MP and it did decent DMG but in the end Sleep is what will make or break you.

dont go on wind day if he get close enough to asuren fist you done. As for dark day seem I got resisted alot more on that day. I won on water day and had no problems.

I really don't think that's true. Some people have gone back and defeated him at 75 and he was a pushover. PLus if that was true, I could easily defeat Maat now without ever bothering to level the job just so I could get my Maat cap. Level 1 MNK Maat with huge delay and access to no weapon skills? I'd own him. :shok: Although that does sounds appealing to attempt to see if it is true.

Don't listen to this info either.

To my knowledge, you can't access Maat until you are 66, so you cannot do that.

Skaw mentioned getting Maat fight at level 75 which means you have already defeated him once. As far as I know, you can do the Maat fight at any level once you have already defeated him. Everytime I have talked to him on any job regardless of level, he has asked me for a new testimony which would lead me to believe I can in fact fight him at any level.

uh a thought just occured to me. Since Hide doesnt work on maat for thf and he doesnt aggro does that mean he tracks by scent? If so couldnt a thf sleepbolt-->sneak attack-->deorerize-->hide--> dancing edge to help finish maat off easier as a thf?
Anyone wanna test this theory?
