Tier 3 Job Merits

Welcome to the world of paper. Rampage still hits a lot harder.

Yeah, it helps that Axes have more damage and are generally used by jobs with better Attack and Strength gear than those using swords.

Has any PLD with DD gear every parsed it? I plan to eventually, but as of now I don't know any PLDs with gear that would be comparable to what a WAR wears.

I've seen cythe go DD on pld, wearing full DD gear and his vorpals were not nearly as high as I've seen average-geared warriors.

I don't know... these merits seem kind of meh. They just seem like another way for merit whores to pour time into after finishing group 1 and 2 merits in the eternal quest for l33tness.

I mean take the WHM category for example. When I played I used to solo all the time, but subbing nin would provide more survivability in which case equipping a shield would be useless. I can see the allure of using say a Genbu's shield with a Templar's mace or when messing around with BLM or SMN subbed... But generally when WHMs are soloing something that doesn't need the relative safety of shadows, then the critter would be too far below their level to even need shield boosts.

As for staff merits... I personally wouldn't give up Hexa for Retribution or even Spirit Taker in most situations.

Enfeebling... meh. I don't recall casting any enfeebles at 75 apart from Dia in Merit parties and Flash (and that's errr... Divine Magic). Maybe the very rare Sleep coupled with ES.

If I were still playing I would've preferred to see more engaging, new content as opposed to more "oh I'll do it when I get bored" novelties.

meh, more wasted time for merits.

thats too many categories, although i do welcome the idea of several different weapons per job class, that would definitely be more interesting.

but sam with polearm >.>.. ick lol

Didn't eulore go DD pld once and outdd a bunch of wars? (pld/war not pld/nin)

Well if he was vorpalling with Joyeuse, I wouldn't be surprised that it wasn't for that much. If he was doing it with Company Sword on the other hand...

i would like then to have bigger melle and elemental penalty to tell you the truth. rebase the entire mob system. Also change the weapon skill formals. way it stand now the best ws are the one that hit the most. I would like see them change the ws so some the other ws actually become useful

If he did, then they were the most fantastically sucky WARs this server has to offer. I can see a Company Sword, full DD gear PLD/WAR coming close to the average WAR, but to do better, you'd need multiple peices of Homam and other stuff Eulore doesn't have, last I checked.

Assuming he doesnt' have sword merits because he's got NIN leveled.

*edit*

Hellstorm, uh... this is a thread about merits, not a complete rehash of game mechanics, start your own thread if you wanna talk about that.

Increasing the overall rank a job has in a skill does sound like a neat idea, though some of those I'd hafto disagree with, primarily WHM/BRD/RDM/BST. Most of the jobs you listed suggest they get an increase in secondary abilities s othey're actually useful, but for those jobs you more or less just raised stuff they already majored in or otherwise have virtually no use for no matter what level they're at. (BST has the second lowest VIT, barely better than SMN as well as horrific AGI; more shield/parry won't do crap for them =P)

Maybe give WHM more Staff/Club/Enfeeb, RDM more Sword/Elemental/Eva, BST more Eva/Scythe/Axe (only saying Axe due total lack of melee abilities/traits, maybe that or roflsword), and BRD more Sword/Eva/Staff? I dunno...at the very least BRD should get something other than their musical skills buffed, that'd make them even more overpowered.

I did out-dd a war/nin before as pld/war. Using Joyeuse not company sword. I've also out-dded ssouljah on samurai in sky as pld/nin. Both of these were before I got some of the gear I have now. And I have homam legs and feet good sir. That being said, I don't really like going DD pld, I just did it before I had nin leveled and to cap pld buffer. It requires 1/3 the gil and work to level up war and do the same/more damage.

Vorpals are around 400-500 average with joyeuse. Not that high, but the DPS definately outweighs that of company sword (both lower delay and swinging almost nonstop)

That's not true at all. Jin (3 hits) > Ku (5 hits)

No question there. I *would* like to see what Vorpal does with the following gear subbed in for WS:

Company/Joyeuse
Ohat
Chivalrous Chain
Suppanomimi/Brutal
Heca Body
Heca Hands
2x Flame Rings
Amement Mantle +1
Potent Belt
Valor Breeches
Heca Feet

TL; DR

The merits on war are really bad ><

1. Most war's use bomb core for +Atk
2. Parry is decent... but I still wouldn't waste merits on it.
3. No War's I know, Including myself, ever use a shield. It's always dual wield or /thf and great axe. Then again, I'm pld aswell, so if I need to tank, I just play that.

Baja...making your posts longer doesn't make them seem any smarter. Expecially when every post is saying the same exact thing.
Sorry, I'll use smaller words next time; I'll still have to repeat myself for the slower people to understand though.

Well then run around town wearing your Homam more often, I can't know about what you don't wear, note the "last I checked" D:

Regardless of what job can out-DD what job in one circumstance... my Lv74 SAM/NIN has out-DD'd level 75 WAR/NINs, MNK/WARs, and NIN/WARs, even in good gear, because their overall gear was crap... when you've put a lot of effort into gear, and the other guy is wearing below-average gear, or inappropriate gear, or not gear-swapping, it's beyond easy to outdamage him.

Maybe I should have been clearer when I said average WAR... I mean a WAR who's better geared than one who just dinged 75, and has some merits. Not talking Adaberk, but more than what he was wearing at level 70. And who isn't sitting at the keyboard watching Naruto, that never does good things for DoT.

(And if you say that they were wearing proper gear and doing their job right... then I weep for the human race)

But this is kinda off-topic... even if the original topic is totally worthless.

pld beating a sam and a war? was the sam or war afk ? lol

That's exactly what I'm saying, lol

(Tip for parsing: Use the damage per fight, not overall damage, compensates slightly better for AFK people or people buring 2-hours purely to boost their parse numbers)

WHM
1) Restores 70% of WHM MP only
2) Reduces enmity by 25%
3) Party members gain regan and stoneskin

BLM
1) Increases the Magic accuracy
2) Reduces Casting Time
3) all party members cast 1 spell with no mp cost .

RDM
1) make the next buff AoE
2) Reduces the MP cost of a spell by 15%
3) all party members cast the next spell with no casting time.
I'm no good with melee, but the 2hr options for the mages seem lopsided... with WHMs getting the best and BLMs getting the worst IMHO.

NIN
1) lower all magic resistence of the target
2) boost Mijin Gakure power
3) all party members blow themself up !!!!!!
lol I love this one. Pretty fireworks all round! but who's gonna raise?
