Ok being nice to linkshell members is something we all try to do. This is my experiance with an ls member that will never happen again.
I gave a blue cape to Tiilo who at the time was a member of the linkshell im in. when i gave him the cape i also lent him a Faerie Hairpin (check ah price yourself). that had been a gift to me. But i was helping out the ls i keep trying to tell myself. Well i saw him online a number of times each time he said he would return it each time shortly after he would log out. Today i saw him online and told him i was coming to get it he insisted he didnt know what i was talking about then changing his story to he thought it was a gift even saying he no longer has it at all.. This is just a warning to everyone Stay away from Tiilo and don't lend gear to anyone even if you think they are trustworthy sometimes they are not. as I have learned.
Confused

If you remember the time and zone you made the agreement with him, a GM could possibly make him return the items. Did Tiilo say he'd return them to you?

Giving away a 400k item to somebody you apparently don't know very well is just asking for it ...

That said I do feel for you though, anyone who does that is surely an asshole.

People seriously give items to random members of their linkshell they don't know?

:nopity:seems to be the best response to this flame. Losing a 400K item sucks, i agree, but if you're that worried about it go farm and get it back. 400K is not hard to make.

No, :nopity: is not the best response. You would figure that a member of your LS is someone you can trust more than a random person walkin thru Aht Urghan, Confused has always been the type to help people out regardless of whether she knows them or not, and for her to get fucked over like that by some n00bish piece of shit is really jacked up. Let me know if you need any help farmin stuff to make that money back my friend :)

Seriously hope this dont happen to you someday mister

It's still really a random guy. Like, if it was someone I could trust completely, I would lend them all my trade-able RDM gear (I have before), but if it's someone in my linkshell that I don't really know, I wouldn't give them a piece of gear that cost me anymore than 10k. You really just can't expect that you're going to get gear back from someone just because they are in your linkshell. Some people don't care that they may get kicked if they take gear from another LS mate, they'll just find another shell.

I feel sorry for him, but you really have to expect this was a possibility when loaning out about 300k worth of gear.

I stopped reading right there cause I knew how the story was going to end.

Lesson learned, I'm sorry this happened to you but now you understand the grim reality of lending out gear, let alone gear that has sentimental value to you.

kind of missing the point. it's not how hard the gil is to make. Confused was just trying to help someone out, and got burned. now Confused is trying to help everyone else, and warn them.

Don't give out your gear to even to LS members.

That was very nice of you to lend someone gear, but I agree that once you "lend" it out you really can't be suprised that someone snaked it away. I don't lend much of anything to anyone because I'm a low-income Elvaan hobo that can't afford to lose the stuff he has. And as a rule, I only lend to people that have entrusted me with high-priced things (like a Hagun) and people that I have contact with in-game on almost a daily basis for at least a few months. Even then I'm still stingy and protective of what I have.

Forgot to add, thank you for warning people about him/her/it.

I don't know why some people feel the urge to reply to posts such as these with "you were asking for it" or "you shouldn't lend out gear to anyone" etc etc. What a waste of time for both the poster and us readers.

No it is a waste of time for some to post "What a waste of time...", yet not even provide an opinion relevant to the subject, therefore pushing the thread off topic.

When you start any thread, you should be prepared for the opinions and feedback you get, positive, negative, or somewhere-in-the-middle.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Confused and I am providing my opinion on what I would do to avoid this situation again. I would be doing Confused a disservice if i were just to say something like "That's too bad, let's spam Tiilo to get Confused's stuff back.", but maybe that's what you are looking for to make this thread more interesting to your reading tastes?

Because people are allowed to have their own opinion in this wonderful thing called "life?" Oh no! We wasted 10 seconds of your time that you spent reading a flame on anyway. The only waste of time posts are the ones that have nothing to do with the original post.

Exactly, at both this comments.

I have nothing against Confused because I'm sure I've never done anything with him, but like I said you have to be careful when giving things out to people you don't know. The person I gave all my RDM gear to, was not only a good friend, but I had his account info so I could of gotten it back when I wanted to. Of course he could just change his password, but I knew he wouldn't.

See I don't understand this Flame nor do I understand whats going on with Tiilo! The reason I say this is because I loaned him my Aristocart's coat and that my friend cost me 2.9M and Tiilo gave me no problem when I asked him to give it back.

I have helped Tiilo out and he still has some gear of mine and gear that I bought for him. I'm not taking sides here Confused and Tiilo are both my friends. All i can say that there may be beef within these players don't we don't know about and we will never know unless Tiilo comes on here and tells his side of the story.

That's all i gotta say. I post just to show you there is two sides to each player out there.

It was more a warning about a player, letting everyone know to stear clear of them.
It was by no means a "Help me get back my shit" post. I didnt whine or cry or pitch a bitch.
I am understandably upset. Anyone would be.
It also wasnt just a "random" person.

Damn you can't say anything here without someone (says no names)
turns simple shit into full blown out drama.

Confused, here's some food for thought.

Unless you know where the person to whom you're lending gear sleeps, and can get to them in a reasonable fashion so as to instill the fear of God in them should they not return it, don't lend it out.

Age-old scenario.

My wife and I played in the same room together and we rarely lent each other gear. Not that we didn't trust each other with it, just that we didn't want to get it all mixed up together.

I don't even like loaning stuff to my own brother. Over the years, I've purchased two Haubergeons, 4 snipers rings, two cassie earrings, and a myriad of other stuff in duplicate because I loaned something to my brother and he was always "still using it" when I wanted it back.

I understand you were trying to be nice, and I commend you for that. But yeah, I personally pretty much assume anything I loan out isn't coming back.

I wouldn't trust that brother dude... he's a bit shifty :P

Least you didn't have to resort to sending your own HUSBAND POL messages to remind him to return gear when he next logged in like I had to the other day!

It happens on the flameboard a lot. And people wonder why I lock some threads...like this one. It serves it's purpose. He's not asking for handouts or someone to harass the player to give him the items back, just a warning that if they requested gear to borrow (we've all done it to people we don't know...not sure why some people get on their high horse like they've never done anything like that before) to stear clear of this person.
