Ok I know full and well there's another thread about this, and I know its only a few lines down on the page here, however its become so rediculously derailed i thought it best to reitterate:

Wear some decent gear please, and level/use a proper sub.

My gripe is more tuned to the lower levels and tanks particularly.

You wear shitty gear, and don't use a proper sub, you will take more damage, and most likely do less damage.

You take more damage and do less damage, you will hold less hate.

You hold less hate, your DD's and Healers will pull hate.

Your DD's and Healers pull hate, your healers need to cure more people.

Your Healers need to cure more people, your healers pull even more hate.

Your healers pull enough hate, they die, exp slowed, etc.

Please, seriously, get your shit together.

I was in a pt yesterday as the only /whm. RDM subbing gimped BLM, BLM subbing RDM. The lvl 42 PLD was taking less damage than the lvl 45 PLD that we had before him and Rappa was pretty much tanking the whole pt. I don't remember people being this bad when I was lvling BLM, RDM or WHM. :(
 
I don't even think that first pld was trying, honestly. Considering he ding and dashed, he probably didn't even care about how gimp he was. The second pld did an okay job, but his gear was a bit subpar and he didn't understand the concept of aiming the mobs away from the mages to avoid frontal AoE. Of course it was somewhat of a moot point since most fights I had hate within the first 10-15 seconds of the fight even when I didn't do anything, lol.
 
I'm just gonna add onto this with my own rant which was inspired by the mob turning mentioned by Rappa, sorry OP.

I'm one of those freaks who takes her job seriously and hates when people play their job half assed and make the rest of us look like idiots. I'm a 'new player'. I haven't even hit 50 with any of my jobs, but I try my best to have good gear and play my job right. I'm not a great player, and I'm always open for advice and suggestion so I don't make partying unbearable for others.

The last couple of parties I've had were made up of a majority of tanks. I didn't care that the hate was getting thrown around like a seal in the middle of a killer whale feeding frenzy, but I was pissed off that all the other tanks were exterting all their energy to pull hate off me and turning the mob in the wrong direction. Like casting flash after I already did, or provoking after me.

Veo and I were another set of replacements for a WHM and a NIN. We had two WARs and a NIN. Like before, I didn't care that the hate was being shared, because they all had shadows. I'm not here to argue PLD > NIN or NIN > PLD, but the one WAR and NIN kept pulling the hate off me, turning the mob to the mages and blasting them with AOE. So I'm just curious. Do people just like stealing hate? It just didn't make sense. Finally after having enough, I told them, "Steal the hate all you want, but please please please stop turning the mob towards the mages". Arg so frustrating!

Is this in regards to me? XD Sorry, it's my second time through as Warrior - so I pull a lot of hate...With Attack+44 and eating Meat around level 43, that's just asking to tank. Just be glad I don't have Axe skill+16 like I had on my other character........or a kraken club (Pld's couldn't keep hate off me) ;) However, I would usually sit my ass beside yours to avoid AoE's on our mages.

I'm assuming you're talking about our gimp WAR44/MNK20 who was randomly provoking.

And wow, I didn't know you have no jobs past 50. You play like you have multiple 75's.
 
No, I meant that one War dude who was going all crazy. The one I sent you /tells about. You were awesome.

Ugh, why would someone go blm/rdm at level 45, especially if you have a rdm in the the party?

If everyone played BLM like me, this game would be so much better.

Also, Dowzer, I would have liked to parse my Taru WAR against you, that'd be fun XD

The one thing that always bothered me about this subject was people will always invite these types of people. Then the same people who invite them, complain about their gimp sub, the gear, or whatever. To me that is a complete contradiction. If you invite someone, you are accepting that person as is. In some instances before the party starts you can ask them to change subs or make gear suggestions, but once you start earning experience and realize their performance is bad as it probably will be, you have no one but yourself to blame. If you want to avoid these problems, then it's best to do it immediately otherwise you are giving them mixed signals. Inviting a gimped player is no different than accepting the gimpness. Not directed at anyone, but it's always been my preference to avoid inviting them rather than encouraging that behavior.

Everyone always counted me out because I'm Taru... but I had just about the best gear, had 4 axe merits (was working on more).. and I don't recall ever being outparsed '-'b Stopped at lv 58 though because Rollie blew up my Haubergeon synth, just after I had blown up 3 consecutive Vir Subligar synths '-'b 30mil /goodbye! lawl.
