This game is what it is.....A GAME. People who feel the need to take it too seriously and screw up other people's fun and enjoyment of the game for the sake of their in-game greed (which, BTW, has absolutely no bearing in their IRL lives whatsoever) have lost touch with the true intention of the game, and therefore, fail at life.

I take more pride in making $15.00 an hour and getting a promotion at my IRL job than soloing some NM with my BST, or taking down some HNM with my LS. There's much more to life than JUST a video game.

ya, BrownCoats just obtained our 1st Kirin set, it isnt such a big deal when it comes to FFXI achievements for the year. But whatever, appearently everyone should has sky by now, and everyone should have their Kirin's Osode.

and for a guy who has been in such successful guilds I find it hard to believe you wouldn't play to win, as we all know, well those of us who are winners that is "Playing for fun" is for fuckin scrubs and lowlifes who only use that as an excuse because they can't win.

Like I said, I was remodeling my RL and really not all that into the FFXI content. The only reason I bought FFXI in the first place (in what, November 2003?) was to ween myself off of a seriously hardcore EQ1 addiction. I bought it with FoH friend Faille and Graaph and another EQ1 buddy of mine from a guild not worth enough to mention and I made CK1. They went to WoW when it released to play with Fires there and I decided to stay with the more easy going FFXI. The content was never all that exciting for me save for a couple of the dragon encounters and that first Kirin. It wasn't for me I guess. The people kept me around.

When I returned to the game, it was because Sosuke (old school people will remember the taru of doom) had asked me to return and start up a new CK. I obliged and it became the closure he needed to be free of FFXI himself. I wound up forming some strong friendships in CK2 and went with it despite mixed feelings about playing the game. I put on my gameface though and tried to help those people to become better players than they otherwise might have cared to be if they didn't play with CK. I never would have told those people we could be anything less than the best and yeah I'm damned proud we killed Nidhogg, and Jormungand and such. It was especially nice to see leadership qualities emerge in the officers who eventually took over leadership of CK completely when my heart just wasn't into the game at all.

I would hardly call people scrubs for not being hardcore. Some of the finest people I've ever met in MMO are casual players. Has anyone met Enz in game? That guy is absolutely amazing both at life and at FFXI. Ryuoho?? Great fucking guy. I could sit here and name some of the greatest people you'll ever get to know in FFXI and they're not even close to being elitist.

There's nothing wrong with the different playstyle. It was the playstyle I chose for FFXI. Its not the playstyle I choose now in Vanguard. (and for those thinking about the other thread--My argument in that thread was about when those casual players expect to experience the same shit as hardcore players without putting in the same time/effort)

In EQ I played to win. In Vanguard I play to win.

In FFXI it was different and I'm still not really sure why.

Anyways that's my FFXI history in brief (it goes way deeper but nobody needs to read my shit here )

We both know the shit you brag about isn't anything special. So just admit it, get off the high fuckin' horse and stop belittling people who are giving the end game a go with their own goals and intentions in mind? The lazy gimps who don't farm? Probably live in trailers IRL, people with drive and like to be successful? Well we can guess where they are IRL. Obviously this isn't how it always is, but I think more often than not these are truths.

I still don't see the connection between having a middle or lower class income would correlate with playing games for fun. I'm not going to sit around and compare exact incomes with you Necrosis, but what does "middle class" end at? I think according to the census middle class is a household income is around $50,000 to $80,000. It's safe to say that my houshold income is quite a bit greater than what is technically middle class, yet I play this game for fun. Your logic fails.

I didn't see where Vere agreed with you (little sad he did to be honest) but I don't see how that validates your point or how it relates to all the other stuff you've been yammering about.
