I'm currently a blue mage at level 32, and I've been looking at the Emperor's Hairpin, PCC, and bounding boots. My question to you is: Is it worth the investment of time (or money) to get these? My magic is strong just from being taru, so I equip things that primarily increase attack, STR, DEX, and sometimes AGI. Can any of you suggest equipment for me to use now or in the near future? It would be much appreciated ^^.

In short, yes.

If you are going to make the change to melee jobs, especially as a taru, I would highly suggest getting those items. My character is taru with 65BLM, 42WHM, 21SMN. I didn't know anything about melee until I switched to ninja. I can't tell you specifics about BLU, but any melee job can benefit from Leaping/Bounding boots, Emp. Pin, and PCC. These are items you can get and hold on to for the rest of your FFXI career. Read up on what's best for your current level, of course. Plus, have fun!

Jesse

Edit: I have to emphasize one thing: ~Skill>Gear~ Do whatever you can to learn about your job and how to play it the best you can. We'll all thank you later!

I stand corrected.

My above post should be amended to say, "...any melee job able to equip...".

(why do I have to say that?)

Because I'm addicted to semantics.

As a blu mage, you should probly have 2-3 pieces of gear for many of your slots. The job is versatile, the gear should be too.

Yeah not right now. It's not worth spending money multiple kinds of rings, earrings, etc. at level 32. Perhaps at 50+ I'll start that. Thanks guys for the advice ^^

The items which you speak of are all easy to obtain. Bounding boots is cake. Empress hairpin is also cake. The only item i see you haveing problems is PCA but its not that hard to obtain ither. These items are great to have and FREE.The only down side is the time put in to get them, any melee would love to have them.

32 is probably a bit early for all that. I started with the whole 2 sets of gear thing on ninja around 40. I already had an assload of evasion gear, and attack gear was all real cheap, except for the O Kote of course.

Hello,

Being a monk Tarutaru @75 I can tell you what I did.
1. My JSE is my friend, will give you what you need as str and vit if needed at a cost that is less from other things that can be equiped by everyone. I still use my lvl 62 JSE shoes.

2. For a blue mage I think you have to boost your Int aven if I am not very aware of Blue. So 2 solutions, you boost Int the most you can and As a taru you "should" have the strongest spells ever". Or you boost str and dex and you should be better in Melee attack and less in spells. My point of view is to boost what your job need the more. If you are a blm you boost int, if you are whm mind, monk str, so blue should be int.

3. Before lvl 60 I say to not invest that much in many equipement because lvling is fast. after lvl 60 get the best things that will last you to the end of game.

If you have any questions you can pm me on this forum

Blue magic is a bit different

Depending on your spell setup is where what stats you want to invest in like for example

Power attack is modified by 10% Vit and 10% Str so if you use this spell then you want to macro in str and dex

att doesnt affect blu physical spells

it depends on what kind of blu you want to be as well where you'll mostly put your money into which type of gear ie magical gear or dd gear

http://www.neko-sentai.com/images/BlumageNFO.htm a bit hard to read but those are the modifiers it even tells you what kind of dd it is!

hope that helps

Taru DD is the second strongest i would say (elvan is better) get the most +str gear and at 75 HP aint needed every one does /nin (wish they did not)
also they look so cute ^^

Kire for str naturally its

Elf>Galka>Hume>Mithra>Taru

Vit is
Galka>Elf>Hume>Mithra>Taru

yeah but how much +str does taru have over elvan?
enough to hit = or more

75 mnk elvan has 75 STR
75 mnk taru has 64 STR
the taru has +6 hands (RSE2 hands) and feet are what +5? thats 75 STR

also skill is a big factor as well like ceram he has good skill and a taru but i know alot of elvan noob mnks xD

yeah, but dont forget that the gear they have to wear to make up that STR, makes them miss out on other important gear that the elvaan could be wearing.

for ex, like you said taru has str+6 on hands... but they miss out on n.kote (acc+10) or o.kote (attack+20)
