Too late?

I used to play ffxi a few years ago on other servers, and in valkurm there were tons of parties and players there. I just started playing again and made a character on quetz, but im now in valkurm and there is nobody there. there is only 1 or 2 parties in total. on my old server there were parties competing over camps...not so much here.

i was wondering if i was just too late for this server, it seems like everyone is 75 and nobody is doing any leveling. is this server different? do people not use valkurm? or am i on at the wrong time? whats the deal?

people level the new jobs such as sch and dancer now so there should be openings. Also parties isn't always the way to go solo can be very or more fun depending your playstyle.

If you're basing it off of one day or certain time frame then you may be trying to party at the wrong times. There's also college exams and high school exams so people will be offline more to take care of stuff.

Give it some time.

Eh, most high level people that lvl low lvl jobs just solo at those lvls now. Its faster and avoids valkurm headache.

I personally solo till 20 or 25 depending on the job.

Well, the game's 5 years in, so i don't think it matters much which server you go to. Low level parties will be somewhat scarse anywhere you go, but they do exist still, from people levelling new jobs, new players (or people coming back), or people who want to lvl another character. That's your best bet right there.

All i can tell you, is that parties tend to get better once you get out of the dunes/qufim. Everyone now a days seem to have PL's for those areas anyways :(

its too late for us. save yourself.

I am fairly new as well, although I have a good friend on this server with me to help me whenever but when he cant the partys are quite scarce as well...

I think big K is right, lots of exams coming up I got mine starting early may so I'm cutting down on my play time right now anyway. Just try and solo for a bit and it will probs kick back up soon.

I'd suggest soloing while you seek. You don't have to go out of your way, just hit up la theine/ordelles until you get an invite.

Solution: Raise exp cap on campaign battles and make easier for lower levels to participate.

the person who i started out with quit a long time ago :(

Still have to have regular XP for skilling though.

Seriously, levelling in campaign or through ENMS just fucks you over double.

Later you have to skill up on stuff on top of having already gotten the exp.

Well, what level are you? I found during the first 2 months on this server when I went through a series of subjobs that the old adage of 'you get your first taste of grouping at 9-10' no longer held true. These levels still go by fast enough soloing (or duoing) EP and DCs that many people aren't partying in those levels. In fact, due to the fact that jobs that *can* solo well at this level (people who can take hits - people who can dish out damage) tend to solo - this leaves you with a general mixture of undesirables at the 9-12 range. I'd say starting from 13 or so the invite rates at Valkrum isn't bad, and never really had a problem from 19+ at Qufim, 24+ at Khazam, etc.

I agree with the 'solo while you seek' except in my case it was 'craft in town while you seek' to make a little bit of extra Gil. However, the single biggest thing I felt that helped me with my low level xping was to be aware of the dynamics of 'whether it was reliastic that I was going to be getting an invite/party soon'. If I was level 10 I made a habit of /sea all 9-11. If I find several people LFG, I start messaging them and invite them to form up a party. If I see no one seeking and 3-4 people in Valk Dunes or what not with their name in light yellow (party leader) - then I put my flag up and start heading for the Dunes and usually by the time I'm there I get an invite because there are lots of parties and very few people seeking. You can usually gauge how likely you're going to get an invite within the next 10-15 minutes by surveying either /sea all Valkrum (or whatever the zone is that you're looking to go) or /sea all 'Your Level + or - 1'. Then you can plan accordingly.

Lastly, it helps to advertise yourself a little in the search comments. What's your xp TNL. Whether you have {Outpost} {Warp} to {Valkrum Dunes}, etc. If you just started out you already have a large bias of low rank against you, no need to put yourself even lower on the invite totem-pole by not having any search comments. I know if all else is equal, I take the player that has good information in the search comments.

My experience in the last 2 1/2 months on this server is groups are a-plenty across all levels. I kept hearing that invites dry up 37+, but from 37-60 I have seen plenty of people LFG. Yesterday while leveling a job in the 10-12 range, I found a bunch of people LFG at that level. It helps if you're seeking during a time when there's a lot of players playing too. Good luck - I hope some of this information helped. I think the lowbie scene on our server is alive and kicking. See you out there.

this server isn't as populated as others. Thats another contributing factor. There just aren't enough people to fill up the lower ranks these days.

Oh, you didn't know? The pre-requisites for joining the Quetzalcoatl Server are: completed Apocalypse Nigh, ToAU and Round 2 of WoTG. 5 jobs @ 75 (minimum). AF2+1, HOMAMs and Morrigans are considered too. ;D

damn. I still need morrigans before I can transfer to quet---- oh wait nvm.

Snuck in!

edit: and that fight for ToAU for windy... the one after i kill some yag for a quipus or something.

Quetz is a fairly small server. It'll be harder to find parties then some heavily populated servers. Then again, there will also bemore people lfg, so it might be harder to actually get a party or find a camp on more populated servers.
