Oh man I can't stop laughing, I'm glad I don't work in an office, lol.
Why do I get the impression that little poem was in regards to a specific event?

,I simply enjoy the xp process
I guess since I'm working on my 10th 75 I should reply, lol. I simply enjoy the xp process, and the variety that comes from doing different jobs. I try to find a balance as far as gearing them/doing endgame, vs leveling another job goes. I don't do kings because I have to work full time in RL, and I didn't do dynamis for the first two years I played. When I finally started doing so, I had 9 jobs to pick from for lotting purposes.
I agree with Rappa and Jamal to an extent about lotting. I do sky, and used to do/will do sea, and I don't go after items I could use on RDM usually since I don't like to play it much for endgame activities. It was my first job, and it's useful for solo work/quests/assaults, etc, but I don't enjoy playing it in large groups. To me Dynamis is a bit different, but I'd still only go after items that I would use alot first, then others after that. I dont go for drops for jobs that can't equip them, but I'm also not going to turn down a good item for a job I have to 75 but just don't happen to enjoy doing dynamis with, but still use elsewhere.
I just think you should do whichever suits your playstyle. If you plan to do a lot of endgame, get good gear before moving to the next job. If you hate endgame and only like to xp then retire it and move on to the next. I'm somewhere in between, and try to balance my week with a decent amount of both "improving current 75s" and "leveling new jobs", with occasional shifts of focus toward one or the other (like a full week of meriting during my last vacation @.@)
Personally I level jobs I enjoy. My true love is DRK, and atleast 85% of my bank roll goes into gear for drk. Only other 70+ I have is 73 BLM. I don't play it because it doesn't look as smexy as my DRK does.
There's quite a few pieces of equipment that can be used for multiple jobs. I only have direct experience with frontline, but I'd assume the same on mages. Kote for MNK/SAM/NIN. PCC for every melee / ranged job. Haubergeon for most upper level DD's. Swift Belt, etc. Rajas is an all-use piece for 2-handed weapons, and a great ws piece for one-handed.
Once you put forth the time/effort to obtain them for one job, you have saved yourself a bundle of cash/time in leveling the next job, as these are constants. If you decide its not worth it for one job, odds are you'll find the same on the next. This is when I start to have a problem with it, as you're constantly in a flux of mediocrity while having the resources to help lots of your jobs together.
