if you don't believe me, why not ask him how he feels of NA players now?

I don't give a shit what he thinks of NA players because of something I "did to him". He's a whiny bitch that wants his cake and to eat it too.
If he wants to generalize, like you, he can fuck himself, like you.

"NA suck! They ruin my game!! WHAAAAAAAA!!!!!"

Everything needs to be spelled out for you? Idiot!
I'm not contradicting myself by saying that, and you'd know that if you actually read anything in all these pages. You'd understand that the context in which that is said, means that the people needing help, would send the /tells asking for it.

People just roaming around, doing their thing don't have any accountability to send tells to people asking them what they are up to and if they need a hand. Being self-sufficient is a skill unto itself that pays dividends. You can be self-sufficient, a helper, and a sociable person without sacrificing anything.

You can also be a whiny bitch, and play the victim when you take your time popping a coffer only to find that someone else actually opens those things, and will do so if you do not.

you knew that it was a possibility they would be trying to open the coffer. yet you chose not to be helpful by idiotically standing there for 15 seconds.
there could have been many amicable outcomes to this situation and yet true to the player you are, you uphold the stereotype.

By not being a cut above the rest, morally?
Following what is common culture, and even giving some grace on top of that, doesn't make me bad or wrong. It just means I didn't go the extra mile. I am saying, I don't need to.
They are the ones with the concern for what's in the coffer. If anyone should go the extra mile, it should be them, to ensure they get the contents. They did not do dilligence, and lost the coffer to a scenario they were well aware of as high level rank 10s.

Because your type thinks everyone is out to get them and screw them over, and not be helpful in any way? Suuuuuuuuuure.

Me taking what's there for the taking is in no way any worse than having an only child, paranoid, the world owes me attitude and expecting things to fall into one's lap.

The phrase get over yourself, comes to mind. Others exist and aren't going to wait all damn day for you. That's not wrong, but fact.

EDIT: This story has been Banned by Yanzi. Its not on point to the arguement.

that would be you screwing the thf over.

actually you're wrong. because my pt did wait and leave the coffer for an AF hunter.
i dare you to be a better person, to change bad perceptions into good, to make the stereotype i mentioned wrong. because all you are doing is just affirming that it's true.

One day I was in Eldieme necropolis looking for the coffer to start my RDM AF gloves.
Finally, I find my coffer, but behold! A Thf flees up and pops the sucker.
However instead of claiming the box was mine, I just /nodded to the thf and hoped Id beat him next time.
Well, I did. Apparantly he didnt have flee up when he came around the corner into one of the plate rooms, and I had macrod in my key in case this happened.
The point is I got my coffer, and I beat out the THF while I was at it at fair competition.

did you even try to communicate your intentions?
you guys make this all out to be far more complicated than it has to be.

Fact: you asked for opinions.
Fact: some of those opinions (backed up with logical reasoning) were that what you did was fine.
Fact: some of those opinions (also backed up with logical reasoning) were that what you did was not fine.
Fact: you're remarkably defensive when faced with the latter sort of opinions.

My personal opinion is that while I don't think of you as someone who did something heinously evil, I also don't think of you as someone who showed consideration. In other words, I think that this action of yours (not you as a person, I don't know you at all so I can't speak about that) happened to be a selfish and greedy action, but *somewhat* (although not entirely) justifiable.

I'd honestly recommend dropping the "I had every right, there was nothing remotely wrong about what I did" argument, and going for a more accurate "I guess in retrospect it was unnecessary, and a bad idea" argument.

Acting self-righteous about it when you're really not entirely in the right ... well ... isn't a good idea. You're not entirely in the wrong either, but you really have to have an untouchable moral high ground (which you don't) in order to justify the attitude you've been taking towards those who criticize you. Just swallow some pride and acknowledge the criticisms that are fair.

EDIT: Shame on me for posting something that happened to me on General Discussion.

Oh, very sorry Yanzi  , I dont see how telling everyone my personal experience with a thf popping coffers where I was hunting AF makes this complicated..
Also this had nothing to do with you...

do you not understand english?
why make this into some competition when all you had to do was try to talk to him first?

Ton an extent I follow culture. To an extent I would say I am more helpful than average Joe. Just because you helped someone once doesn't make you right. I have helped people plenty of times too.
AF hunters need to act like they are hunting for AF...Like they care.
They know that someone could come pop the coffer if they want, yet they did nothing about it. If they are after AF or treasure, it's not my concern as I am also after what's inside those coffers. If they let me know of their concern to get the contents of the coffer, or that they wanted help, I would have helped. They didn't though, and I'm not going to start asking everyone what their business is, or assume what it is. Understanding the competition and the culture here is key. By level 75 and rank 10, a player should know that.

And no, I didn't screw the THF over. He screwed himself over.
I'm sure he got his coffer shortly thereafter. Probably popped it quickly like he should have the first time around.

EDIT: Yanzi, you were so right. I was so wrong to be offended :(.
Another removal of post.

The competition thing already exists. It wasn't just created at this moment or when NA began playing.

All he had to do was pop the coffer. If he wanted to be cautious, he could have asked the people in the zone to work with him. I don't care what anyone is doing in the area. If I am there to farm and pop coffers, then that's what I am entitled to do. I would have held up if they had made it known that it was important to them, either through actions (just popping it) or words (a /tell to me). I don't need to initiate discussion, and I played by the rules of competition and the known culture surrounding coffers.

They were slow and lost it. Does that suck for them? Sure. Did they live and move on to get a coffer? I'm sure they did. Did I create or cement a generalization of NAs? Hell no. Whatever was in their heads was in their heads.

I've been focked over by NAs and JPs on more than one occasion. Live and learn. Hopefully next time, they'll handle their business and not assume everything will be a giftwrapped cakewalk.

Ok, first off, if you think talking is gonna stop someone..no, case in point YOU.

why don't you try before making assumptions. unless you're just as jaded as sneaky is.

i wrote a plain response to your post. it was a simple question. then you had to get your panties in a bunch.

So is this a discussion or a flame war now? I tried to read the point/counter point things but theres just toooooooo many.

you seem to be so set on your mindset that you will pop any coffer regardless. then why even make a post asking people about it, since obviously nothing we say will change your mind?
next time, don't even bother waiting 15 seconds since it makes no difference.

in case you haven't figured it out by now, rank means nothing anymore. people are rank 10 by the time their first job is level 60.

To the people it means nothing to: WAKE UP!
I'm only level 61 and rank 6, and I can clearly see the reality of the situation.

It was theirs for the taking, and they failed miserably.
Orville Reddenbocker can pop corn faster than they can open coffers.
