Treasure Hunter Myths resolved by SE

If the THF doesn't need the killshot, you'd assume that the THF doesn't need to be in the kill party in an alliance too.

Dynamis? no idea how exactly it would work. One of my shell has all the WHMs sub THF, so we always have TH in nearly every party, but whether it matters? I guess thats still for debate, lol.

Or when they do ask the right question, it only seems to bring about a dozen more questions. The problem is they only allow you to ask one quick question and not ask a bunch of questions or one very large question. I think if SE had given the opportunity, someone would have asked, "could you explain the effects of TH in it's entirety?" by now.

"How does Treasure Hunter work in an Alliance setting and Dynamis?"

I'm pretty sure you'd get the same "Only one Thieves TH works" answer thrown in as well.

I still stand by my argument that Th is useless and all you thfs are fucking moronic for thinking you have a place anywhere :)

I'd agree TH isn't an all encompassing trait. For drops that are 100%, but can only show up as one or the other(Strider Sword and Sarutobi Kyahan for example,) in my opinion, treasure hunter has no effect there. Considering I've killed that retarded bird dozens of times since they gave him the EX Kyahan, all I've gotten have been Strider Swords with TH1.

I'm assuming by generate enmity it means the THF just has to hit the mob while in party. So THF just went from the 'Stand over there till last 5%' guy to the 'Stand over there till last 5% and hit mob once without performing TA' guy.

the above was poor sarcasm.

Honestly Nei, I think your right. They word it that you just need enimity which means you need to be in the hate pool via hitting it. So yeah same deal as ever for THF standing at Kirin or any HNM except now you only need 1 THF to hit it for the effect to take place instead of a "THF party" to "tink it down with daggers" lol.

It's great that they finally shined some light on it, but it doesn't really change anything.

People are superstitious, and they're still going to do what they've always been doing.

You have to take into account that something to this extent was said or commented on a year or two ago, and although it generated a lot of OMG responses people still, and now, still will, continue to do what they've always been doing.

You can't prove it. People don't believe SE any more than the regular player now, considering how many times they've been wrong..

I GET IT

Lets say you have a party with 3 theives

thf1 has th1
thf2 has th2
and thf3 has th3 (rare)

the TH of THF 1 and 2 are blocked no matter how much hate they aquire and in order for THF3's TH3 to activate he has to aquire hate from the monster he is fighting, you know when a monster starts to consentrates on you and it is difficult to get it off even by a tank, that is when TH3 will kick in.

At least that what think it mean.

NO. The interview clearly states that the THF just need to appear on the hate list. TH3 would kick in if THF3 engages, misses, then dies (from poison for iexample) without having max hate at any time.

the thief just needs enmity

he only needs to hit the mob one time.

I thought this was assumed, since the definition of Treasure Hunter is "Increases chances that treasure will be dropped" or something to that extent. I had the same experience with Mee Deggi until someone informed me that subbing THF was useless.

Or in the case of Dynamis and it's wonderful hate system, the THF just needs to take a knee for half a second.

aggro to /resting doesn't put you on hate list;

for example if you are a mage and aggro a mob through resting, then someone sleep it; imagine your alliance wiped and only you survive; the mob won't come after you;

Nor does aggro or linking mobs.

Now I have seen people pretend that you just need to hit the mob with TH4 then remove gloves and replace knife by a better weapon, and TH4 would still be effective; this is not what they said, and I believe you still have to equip TH4. And this is definately not an option in dynamis, where mobs die so fast you won't have time to change and loosing TP will not do any good.

Actually what should happen now in dynamis is have a TH4 thief always melee and not pull; have lesser level of TH thieves pull/kite etc.

I certainly hope people arent changing weapons mid fight in dynamis, mobs die almost instantly. But as far as dynamis is concerned I dont see why you wouldnt have the TH4 pull and melee unless you are talking about the fact that the THF that pulled wouldnt have time to engage the mobs he pulled since hes waiting for sleepga II or whatnot.

But honestly, THF knife are cheap as can be and certainly easy enough to farm so most THF on this server should have bought or camped the thing by now and have "TH3" or Treasure Hunter +1 or .1 or what the hell ever people want to call it nowadays. As far as the THF armlets are concerned...no one should expect every THF to have that obviously because that would be like expecting your RDM to have its relic hat every time. Its a dynamis drop that isnt DRG or BST armor so it actually doesnt drop every time you do dynamis lol. I dont know how many times I filled mannequins with that DRG and BST gear lol.

If you have only a THF with TH4, he must get aggro from every mob you fight, which is not the case if he is on pull duty. So ideally you'd need him to range attack every stone and melee every beastman. This is a full time job because stones and beastmen die quick and usually the puller go pull more as soon as crap is slept.

I could be wrong here but I don't see why every party would need a TH4 THF to maximize drops. I mean it's not like you get less drops because you have more people in the zone right?

I don't know any ls that should really try to have a THF with TH4 try to hit every mob, but this probably could be done easy with darts.

Well, if every party member's TH is based on the highest TH within that party, then ideally you'd want every party to have a thf with TH4, so that every single person would be considered to have TH4 when it came to roll for drops. It would maximize your drop potential, by giving every single member in the group TH4, rather than a smaller number.
