Treasure Hunter Myths resolved by SE

The activation of TH will be certain if the TH SATA on himself at start (even if it kills him).

I mean, it's more of a sure thing that this throwing darts thing.

Generating enmity from the target enemy means doing something to get real hate, such as attacking or even missing (this is opposed to merely aggro/link hate, which is a different beast). I highly doubt it means being at the *top* of the enmity list and thus actually getting targeted.

The only issue is that the original question mentioned multiple THFs *in a party*, so the answer is applicable to that. While that's all well and good for one party, that doesn't really solve alliance issues, much less multiple alliance issues such as Dynamis. Does it extend across alliance as well, or even across multiple alliances, or is it based on the enemy itself and whether that enemy has been attacked by a THF period? If it's not based on enemy, then is the applicable party/alliance decided by who gets the killshot, or by some other means?

The safest thing to do is to put a TH3 or TH4 THF in every party that will be getting killshots and have each of them tag every mob that their party will be killing (for example, have the THFs in BLM parties tag statues and the THFs in melee parties tag beastmen in Dynamis), but that may be overkill. Or it may not.

Just have a thief do assists.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that Treasure Hunter is an effect that gets "flagged" on a mob as soon as someone with the trait gets enmity on the mob. This effect would be akin to the Protect spell, wherein any lesser version of TH would just have no effect, any equal level would just renew it (which would have no purpose but why code it differently?), and any higher level would overwrite it. To extrapolate, that would mean that having 3 TH4 thfs in an alliance wouldn't make a difference because as soon as the first instance of TH4 was put on the mob it would just keep getting overwritten by new instances of TH4 over and over rather than stacking the effect from multiple THFs. That's the logical conclusion anyway, I don't see why it would behave any differently given the statement in the OP.

What this thread had shown me as of now is that once you have a TH4 THF, all other kinds TH are useless. Then we would only "need" one THF (highest TH) in any alliance...

Well, if every party member's TH is based on the highest TH within that party, then ideally you'd want every party to have a thf with TH4, so that every single person would be considered to have TH4 when it came to roll for drops. It would maximize your drop potential, by giving every single member in the group TH4, rather than a smaller number.

So let's say you have 30 members in Dynamis. Only one of which is a TH4 THF. That would be 5 seperate pty's. Does that mean your TH4 THFs usefulness just got divided by 5, when it comes to TH only? And let's say some people were just lazy and formed more pty's than necessary bringing the total to 6 ptys. So the usefulness of the TH is even smaller then in this case?

Sorry if I'm not making sense, at work and can't pay as much attention to this as I would want to.

I don't know any ls that should really try to have a THF with TH4 try to hit every mob, but this probably could be done easy with darts.

Well, don't forget Steal and Mug, which can be done on sleeping opponents. You can even do this while engaged on other mobs. Granted it's only doable once every 5/15 minutes. But it's still something.

I don't think Bajaratt is saying that TH is divided up among party members, but that TH influences all party members drop opportunities. It's no mystery that more pople in your party = more drops. But considering SE states that the highest amount of TH is the one that takes effect, that must mean that it blankets everyones drop calculations - and not just the thiefs.

A THF/BLM could spam sleepga in Dynamis to safely get on the hate list of most the mobs in a given pull. Resists still generate enmity.

Well my questions now is this:

If a thief Rests in Dynamis, does said thief generate the hate needed on all mobs?

And

If a thief is subbing Whm and Powerleveling a buddy (possible I can VERY easily get 500+ MP) then if they're on the mob's Emnity tabel via helping another, does thier TH get activated?

if you go by this, why dont they go /drk and just spam souleater and last resort? ;)

Cuase you need to be on the hate table to begin with?

If I go out to West ron and use SE and LR, all the mobs don't run to me. If I cast Sleepga on a pack of rabbits and it resists they do.

THF/BLU would be a bit better. Sheep Song/Sound Blast/Soporific all cost less MP than Sleepga. Can use remaining Points/Slots to boost melee attributes too.

I agree with Skaw that /blu would be the best way to constantly generate enimity with the least cost. Just better be sure to have refresh on the THF so he can stoneskin and buff likewise to make up for not having shadows from NI or that MP pool is not gonna cut it.

Now some may chew me out for this but in the year I did dynamis our THF needed /nin simply for the sake of survivability because sometimes people fail at sleeping mobs. I know I know most of everyone's LS here NEVER fail at sleeping mobs =P but it happened occasionally that the BRD or the BLM would be *Gasp* AFK unannounced.

You mean some people thought multipe treasure hunters stacked? Hahahahhaha

In that case don't you think everyone would have like 12 thfs and some support to kill fafnir for ridillzzz everytime?

Jesus christ lol...

Yeah, /BLU would work great as well for this. One advantage to /BLM though, is that every 10min when elemental seal is up, you will actually be able to sleep something

You would defiantly have to have a dedicated THF do this kinda thing, you certainly wouldn't want your main puller doing this job... Of course with the new information of how TH works, the LAST job you should be doing with a TH4 THF is pulling. As puller you are only gaining emnity on one mob that you originally shoot out of the entire pull..

I don't think that even a eleseal sleepga would sleep the stones, if it was from a thief. I wouldn't trust anything that has less skill than a rdm to do sleepga with any sort of consistancy.

I think it's safer to to sub ninjar and use non damaging ninjutsu.

That only puts you on the hate list of the stone that is pulled, and not all the monsters that are pulled with the stone. Unless you want to stand there and spam ninjutsu while you get thwacked around. :)

My semen is the secret to Treasure Hunter
