This is gonna probably be a retard moment for me. :crazy:

The question is:

Is Trimmer's Earring's Accuracy +5 Latent activated by ... BST sub or ... RNG sub?

I solo 99% with BST sub and in random/odd places if people see me and /check me they point out "why are you using that earring? It's for /RNG sub only." (via /tell)

Wiki, Alla, everywhere more or less says it's activated by BST sub (which I know... and sure of, as overwhelming evidence will suggest that it's ... true, along with tests)

So I reply "because it works as BST sub". And then comes the response "No it don't, it's RNG." And I'm like "......" -__-;

But then I ask them to check online and I either get no response or it breaks into something else. And then I challenge them with my own question ... what's Beater's Earring activated by then? (RNG...)

They don't answer or continue to "lol" at me for using a "useless" earring, but this isn't just one occurence, this is many many occurences. Names don't matter, but ...

The icons for the earring are the same. But where do they draw up the conclusion so.... fast, and refuse to believe what I tell them?

I'm not too bothered really at the end of the day as what I do isn't really affecting them, but some of these people seem to care quite a bit to a point I seem to be affecting something.

The latest occurence was a few hours ago, who thought I was BST main in Gustav. In actual fact I was DRK/BST with a SWORD (Holy Sword), Tortoise Shield, hume RSE, crossbow + acid bolt. The top row of the gear easily suggests I wasn't BST main, although I had a pet charmed... but this person made a beeline for my earring instead. I found funny yet I died a little inside.

NOTE: Don't question my gear choices. I'm simply surpressing myself (or die!). And yes all my skills are capped until Level 70~

Trimmer's = BST
Beater's = RNG
Those people = ignant bitches

It would be a lot easier if this game just told you your stats instead of making everything seem like a game of charades with blind people.

I actually didn't think this existed, and I had a whole post typed to respond how I hate the hidden numbers, but here it is in all it's mathematical glory:

* When combat skill is ≤200

Accuracy = floor(( Combat Skill + floor(DEX/2) + (+accuracy from gear) + (+accuracy from trait and/or ability) ) * (1+ ( percentage from food effect/100)))

* When combat skill is >200

Accuracy = floor (( 200+ floor((Combat Skill-200)*0.9) + floor(DEX/2) + (+accuracy from gear) + (+accuracy from trait and/or ability) ) * (1+ (percentage from food effect/100)))

I've always kinda respected FFXI for having a non-wow feel to it's stats, threat, etc. I think it keeps people on their toes, but I'm derailing >.>

I think it's incredibly stupid as well. All it takes is one person to figure it out, and then the rest of the world including you and myself can just look it up on Wiki or Somepage or whatever. So now instead of the latent being on the ring, I have to take 15 extra seconds to go look it up somewhere. Kind of retarded if you ask me.

It is when you see Blms full timing wizard's earring... You underestimate human stupidity.

EDIT: What's worse is that they don't even realize you can check to see the latent is NOT working!

I don't disagree at all. Although you gotta admit even a large number of the idjits that are told to look that up will see a formula and say "meh, I'll just guess."

It's a nice reality concept to the mechanics and it's stupid for gamers at the same time. Can't win :\

I hate the latent effect thing for the most part as well. So many times I see people wearing Magician Earring without /SMN as well as crap like Axe Belt on WAR (It'll let me Rampage a level earlier?!) and Sarashi on NIN.

It's a neat concept with a few items but it honestly shouldn't be used on everything. It's made especially worse by the fact that some weapons have flat-out hidden effects - for all we know there's been some item out there that gives Treasure Hunter +25 and we never knew because it's some no-stat-looking crap no one'd ever wear unless RMT.

you truly see stupidity when you pt with a blm with a sorcerer's ring and keeps healing themselves to full and loves to spam ams on fresh mobs

and yeah kiki I'm not sure why bst are "trimmers" but that's correct that trimmer is bst and rng is beater.
