Well im sittin up here at my job. Sports Radio Station down in Lubbock, Texas..Anyway I'm a huge Houston Astro fan, been one my whole life. I'm just kinda bored and just saw my team lead a game 3-0 all the way to the 8th inning. Andy Pettite , starting pitcher pitched a great game.. 8th inning came, bullpen pitcher Chad Qualls comes in... Boom!...the other team gets 4 runs in the 8th and 'Stros lose the game.... This has happened to them so many times.. they can still make the playoffs and i have a slim piece of hope left for them, but its lingering. I dunno, lol I was just wanting to know if anyone else out there feels my pain and has had there favorite team piss them off like no other this year.. Red Sox fans need not respond.. You got your world series so ya:P...anyway... yea. See ya later

Who are the Red Sox?

(The 2 run blown save last night, followed my a missed opportunity in the bottom of the ninth was a heartbreaker though...playoff hopes all but gone unless they get real hot, realll quick...)

lol... im sorry oddly enough, i was up here at the station last night running that game wishing for papelbon to get that last out so the game could end so i could go home lol. jeter had to ruin it... but yea i felt pretty bad for em, looked like they were gonna win it, only to let the bullpen blow it in the 10th... the feeling is awfully too familiar.

You're not a Cubs fan. Post this thread in about 100 years for sympathy because you get none today.

I hate the 'Stros but they are not the only team struggling with this case of Shitty Bullpen Syndrome. My boys, Atlanta Braves, usually the best in both leagues pitching wise are even struggling with it this year. I think it's the coaching really though or the GM's. They need to start drafting better bullpens instead of better bats because in the end, pitching and defence win you more ballgames. the quality pitching on most sucessful baseball teams in the past two years has seriously declined and I'm saddened by that. Pithing wins ballgames you nub nub drafters!

About those Yanks...The Yankee's wont get another world title for the next three to four years, and after four is a rough shot, so I'm at least happy that their bandwagon fan base have no reason to hoop and hollar for now. Money can't buy you the best players in the game these days, oh noes! You end up with hot shot Rodrigueze's (sp?) and Jeter's who are washed up and big headed.

From CT, go go Yankees. Or mets, those are an acceptable alternative. So long as those (inser properly derogitive terms) Boston Red Sox lose I am happy.

As much as it pains me to say this, i have to completely disagree. Jeter is gonna win the AL batting title, and A-Rod is only struggling because he is putting too much pressure on himself to perform in the big city. When Sheffield and Matsui come back, the Yankees are gonna be impossible to stop...even with sub-par pitching.

49 runs in a five game stretch is outrageous, let alone against a tough division rival...on the road. Yes pitching is important, but with a 200+ million dollar payroll they have the best bats in the league 1 through 9. Its like the god-dammed all star team on their roster, which i feel is a little ridiculous.

It seems unfair to the small market teams to let anyone spend as much (or in my Pittsburgh Pirates case...as little) money as they want, but the system works in this sport better than any other. Look at the teams contending this year in some races...Detroit, Arizona, Cincinatti, and Florida even (Combined Salary = 210 million, about 12 million less than the Yankees). 200 million dollars does NOT buy you a ring, and you dont need to be from New York or LA to contend.

As a proud White Sox fan I feel your pain. We have the freakin Tigers who are playing stellar baseball. The White Sox are playing about 5 games off their pace of 05 and the Tigers are about 5 games ahead of the 05 White Sox. So I feel the pain and the White Sox starting staff isn't holding it down like they should be. It's pissing me off and something needs to be done and slap them around give 'em shake up.

To Cubswoo: All I have to say is LMFAOCubs.

Sounds like someone is still mad about losing to the Yankees in '96. I'll agree with Wakefield Jeter will win the batting title probably even AL MVP. A-rod is just well... Joe Crede is having a better year than him that's all I'll say.

The Braves usually are middle of the pack with starting pitching where as you take oh let me just say... the Oakland Athletics who for the past I don't know 30 years have had priobably the best rotations put together along with a solid bullpen. Hell the White Sox,even with poor performances lately via Mark Buehrle Javier Vazquez oh hell pretty much everyone but Bobby Jenks and Jon Garland pitching staff wise, still have a better rotation than the Braves. Who is your ace Tim Hudson right? Yea last I checked Hudson hasn't been all that spectacular, but looking back the NL does blow compared to the AL.

No the NL Central is just weak that's why you have Cincinatti in competition in the Wild Card POSSIBLY even winning it. Detroit is just playing stellar baseball and I applaud their GM Alan Trammel it's not Jim Leiland(SP), who has a sud-.500 record as a manage, for building the Tigers. More than likely the Tigers will hit that wall and either the White Sox or the Twins will take advantage of that. The NL West bares no mention in any legitiment baseball discussion. Everyone in the NL East is pretty much still in contention even if they skill is that of a AAA ball team (Marlins).

Also just because the Yanks have a payroll doesn't mean anything. Pitching wins the bats just help. The Yanks have those bats to support the pitching which will give up x amount of runs per game while the offense will get 2-3 runs more for insurance if z pitcher gives up x amount of runs.

Pshh, yea all they did was win the World Series last year...but whos complainin?

Complaint: My buccos (Pirates) have had 16 straight losing seasons since losing to the Braves in the 1991 NLCS (Which Tim Wakefield would have been the MVP of btw...). Every season i dont hope for a world series, or even a playoff berth, i pray for a .500 season. Is that too much to ask for?

Cubs still loses... Top 5 in payroll, bottom 5 in the standings... ; ;

I wouldnt say "Doesnt mean anything"... Having the incredible amount of championships that they do while still wielding the highest payroll in the league for the last billion years is probably no coincidence. Ive never seen a team be out-hit like the Yanks did to Boston over this weekend in my life (and thats still sans Matsui and Sheff). Every time a Yankee pitcher gave the lead back to Boston, it was like the offense didnt miss a beat. They headed right back on the field and crushed the ball as usual.

Im not saying pitching doesnt matter. 95% of the time it does, but when the pitchings not there, and not up for trade, you gotta go get an Abreu and get the bats swingin, cuz theres more than one way to win in this game.

Well.. I'm a pretty diehard Redsox fan.. Most definitely not bandwagon, and I gotta say, I've got baseball depression for sure. I think the sox' season is dead, 6.5 out in the AL East, and 4 out in the WC, with the Twins playing solid baseball, and the White Sox struggling a tiny bit, but still being a far more reliable team than my sox.

As for the Jeter comment.. I'd say he's definitely worth the money. He plays 4.5 tool baseball lol, Great fielding, great speed, great batting avg, great fundamentals, and decent power. A-rod, however... is definitely not earning his 25mil this year, he's just a headcase. He's got the talent, but he puts so much pressure on himself to succeed for the fans, and he chokes. The MVP? I think it's gotta be Papi, granted I'm bound to be a bit bias... but come on! He's the #1 clutch hitter in baseball, he's one countless games for the sox with his bat.

If you compare him to Jeter... Jeter's got the speed, the defense, and the average. Speed? Yeah, that's a great tool, no argument here. Defense? I'd say he's lost them as many games as he's saved them, not that he's a bad shortstop at all, but how often does a great play actually save the whole game, not often. Average? Again, no argument. Look at what Papi brings: 44(or 43?) HRs, obvious how helpful this tends to be, He doesn't play the field, so at least he's not LOSING games with his gloves, and his what, 120ish RBIs? He's also scored a boatload of runs. The key, though, is the clutch hitting, I forget the exact numbers, but he's hitting something like .340 with double digit homers and a buncha RBIs in games after the 7th inning, when the Sox are leading or trailing by LESS than 3 runs. Also... 7 walk-off hits this year.. amazing.

I rest my case! =P

Also.. I think once the Yanks get Matsui and Sheffield back ( if they get Sheff) they're gonna be damn hard to beat... that's just way too much hitting. Imagine the lineup

Damon .300+ 30HR 30SB
Jeter .340 or w/e, 20HR 30SB
Abreu .320 30~HR 30SB
Giambi .280 40~HR
Sheffield .300~ 35~ HR
Matsui .300~ 30-35HR
A-rod .300 40~ HR
Posada .280 20~ HR
Cano .320 20~ HR
(all approximations, as to how they'll be in a month when said players return)

How sick is that gonna be? I'm pullin for the Tigers though, and they've certainly got the pitching, if anyone can beat the Yanks, it's them or ChiSox.

so.. yeah.. baseball depression.. GO PATRIOTS BABY!

well.. astros r losing like 12-0 right now, and ive officially given up hope.. o yeaa dude who was complainin about white sox.. quiet you... you beat us in world series last year. so u shud be happy:/ and yea i dunno what the deal is this year.. besides the mets in NL, everyone sucks balls.. or is mediocre.. especiall my team.. phil garner i swear is the dumbest manager ever.. so many times in close games when hes had runners on 2nd and first w/ 0 outs... he doesnt bunt... why?!?!?! i find myself yelling at the TV and throwing multiple things and pets at the TV. and go figure most of the time when he this happens, the next guy up hits a deep fly ball that woulda scored the run.... wtf man u think hed learn after awhile. baseball depression... /sigh " there's always next year" . . . "fuck"

So you're saying a 30 home run hitter will save the Yankees? Abreu is over-rated simple as that. He looked good last year goin into the all star break then died. Abreu is always like that. But in the last 5 years have the yankees won a World Series with their pay roll? Nope they lost to the Diamondbacks the Marlins the Angelsx2 Boston. I'm surprised Joe Tore hasn't been fired.

last year i didnt think big papi deserved the MVP becuz hes just DH... after seein his great numbers this year and his amazing clutch numbers.. ( hes only gotten out like 2 times outa 15 or sumthin in a walk off situation) yea he shud be mvp.. o yea astros r down 13- 0 now /sigh
