Ok, I recently began coughing up blood and having chest pains. (Im 17, so its none of that old person crap.)

I went to the doctor's office, not a hospital, and had myself checked out. Pulse and Blood Pressure turned out to be perfect. Then they hooked me up to this machine, (Which, by the way blows because the adhesive gel they use is so freaking cold.) and start doing scans of my heart.

The doc takes the scan charts away and dissapears for about 15 minutes, during which im getting X-rays of my chest. The x-rays said everything was fine. Doc comes back and says:

"Its nothing really. Your heart slows down every other beat, but its all stress related. Possibly some acid reflux."

Now, Im not medical genius, but if stressed, doesnt your heart tend to, well, speed up? And I know what acid reflux feels like, and this defenitly aint it.

So, the doc tells me this, gives me 2 weeks worth of acid reflux pills and sends me home.

Doc says nothing about the spewing up blood. (Which isnt pleasant by the way) and im just really confused.

Anyone have any idea wth is wrong with me? Im ready to crack out the gil for a visit with a cardiologist.(Sp?)

EDIT: Sorry, I keep forgetting which forums im posting in. I coulda sworn I was in "Reality Sinks In."

Why would you need to see a cardiologist for something going on in your digestive system? Its just excess stomach acid eating away at your stomach and throat lining a bit, listen to the doctor lol.

Coughing Blood or Vomiting Blood.

Coughing blood. There was vomiting blood involved, but it started off as coughing.

Thats the problem. I know its not this acid reflux crap, im having CHEST pains (chest= circulatory or heart) And coughing up blood isnt very fun. Plus the doc says its stressed related but my heart is SLOWING down. Which makes no sense to me.

If your heart and lungs are fine it'd probably be an ulcer (almost always stress related). And while stress CAN raise heart rate/blood pressure, at that time you might not have been stressed at all. =P

Well, if you guys think its nothing to worry about, then I wont worry either. Iv learned that although most of you like to stick to your own opinions, when your right, your really right.

Well if you had CF you would have a lung infection by the sounds of it. Right before i was in the hospital last month i was coughing up blood and puking from coughing too much. It could be that you might even have a type of lung infection even without CF. I'm no doctor but i've had my fair share by now to know enough.

The doc didnt directly check my lungs...i think. She did that usuall "Take a deep breath" thing which turned out ok. I dont know what could be shown on the X-rays, but oh well.

As long as im not gonna die faster than Kire set to PvP in Jeuno, I'll be fine.

Ignoring the morbidity of that statement, OMGLOL!

That'd be able to see if you had liquid in your lungs or such since inhaling would cause a "gurgling"/shuddering sound if there were.

Yea, I was gonna say something along the lines of:

"As long as I dont go down faster than Skaw's mom on promnight, im good."

But then I figured Skaw would come busting in here like Jean Claude Van Dam through a wood door and start ripping me a new one.

I can't speak about the blood, but I have had some severe acid reflux in the past. I do indeed tend to experience it when I'm going through a lot of stress, or I'm especially nervous about (or dreading) something. It's been years and years, though ... the last time I had it was when I was starting work at a new company that I just joined up with a couple of months ago. I'd been self-employed from my own home for years prior to that, so I was particularly on-edge. Even so, it wasn't nearly as bad as it used to be.

My understanding is that the stomach acid wears the lining of your esophagus thin, and if it goes on long enough, it runs out of lining to eat up, and you bleed a little. I never got to the point where I was literally coughing up phlegm, but perhaps only because I try to keep anything I might cough up down ... meaning, if any saliva or phlegm comes up, I send it right back where it came from. Disgusting, perhaps, but no less than finding a sink, toilet, or tissue somewhere to deposit it in. :/

That being the case, I've never had the opportunity to examine the products of my insides the way other people seem to.

Guess where your esophagus is.

Are you a doctor? Trust the person who has been through years of medical school. Stress affects everyone in different ways

Doctors arent always right. And iv read/heard/seen/ had friends who experienced/ enough of these cases of poor judgment on the doctors part to be worried enough to post asking a gaming community. XD

Well, I don't quite know about that. People go through that medical training for a slew of different reasons, and it isn't necessarily the altruistic desire to heal people. It is for some, to be sure, but unfortunately ... not all. My little brother personally experienced some dismissive, barely-attentive care firsthand. If a doctor gets it in his/her head that you may be faking, or imagining things, or even if he/she simply has their minds on other things that day ... well, it's every bit like the guy at Taco Bell who gives you a Chalupa Beef Supreme when you just wanted a damn order of nachos.

The only thing different is the level of education.

Doctors are only human; it's okay to question whether or not they truly "gave their all" in your particular case, or even whether or not they might be that particular clinic's version of the guy at YOUR office that screws up ten different things every day. This dreary fact is what birthed the term "second opinion."

And my second opinion is from a bunch of online gamers. Go Quetzy!

Not a doctor either but do you smoke? A lot of people smoke to relieve stress, and when you smoke for a long time you do tend to cough up blood.

I know you say that you don't have any stress(i think thats what you said) but because of smoking it makes you feel better and it "goes away" but it affects another part of the body, or as I said earlier its smoker's cough where you start coughing blood.

Sorry hope that helps?

Its AIDS, gonna have to close your house.

Nah, I dont smoke, drink or do any drugs. (Yea, good ol child every parent loves, shaddup.)

I actually am under alot of stress. Thats why I didnt go see a cardiologist after the doctor because there is always the possibility she is right.
