It doesn't mean much, they did the same thing with Chonobreaker years ago and never did anything with that.
 
Well, it does make sense for SE to put out at least one last expansion, and it does make sense to call it The Last Remnant

Businesswise, why would you shoot yourself in the foot by naming an expansion as "last" anything.

Just go with it till the money dries up. There's no reason to push for an end.

To be fair the original final fantasy was literally supposed to be the last game Squaresoft or whomever was gonna be able to make. After that they just capitalized on the sucess of the original.

because, theres the west, the near east and far east. The Last Remnant fits, it doesnt necessarily mean the last expansion, but the last remnant = the last group of people, which could fit in
 
As long as they introduce things like Dimensional Portals and 'The Emptiness,' they could continue doing things like that as long as there is money to be made.

Actually im 90% sure thats a new game there coming out with for the 360. Theres been tons of news about people wanting FFXIII on the 360 and stuff like that but instead SE is making a new game. I'll see if i can find any of the articles i read about it.

Edit: Found the one i saw about The Last Remnant but i thought it was more specific when its actually just saying they licensed it. So i actually don't have a clue if its a new game or not. SE did just license the Unreal 3 engine though so I won't be surprised if it is a new game.

Don't discard that tought yet. SE said that they will make an announcement regarding the future of FFXI in the party they are having this month.
