Wasn't there a map posted a little while back on this forum from some other site with actual continents to the north, south, and west that we haven't travelled to yet, right next to our conquest world map? I'm sure I saw it around, but couldn't really be bothered to look for it atm.

One was Gigas lands, I forgot the other two, but if it's really true, then SE can make at least 2-3+ more expansions. I believe SE should have a new expansion at least by this summer or fall though, but it'd probably be longer than that I suppose since there's no word on anything yet... and it'd make sense for SE to actually have the main ToAU missions completed too before releasing any new expansions.

True, but it was based off the FFXI storyline, so the only inaccuracies are the actual shapes of the continents.
 
There's still the Gigas Homeland, Mithra Homeland, Far East, and the Western continent that I do not remember what its called.
 
Isn't Kazham the Mithra home lands? I always thought it was...

Far East still has to be made. I doubt we'll see a Gigas Homeland. Southern/West continents maybe.

Naw, that's what they escaped too. The Mithra Homeland is where the male Mithras live.

The Last Remnant isn't the new FFXI expansion name:
The latest issue of Game Informer features as-promised details on a new Square-Enix role playing game. That issue is now showing up in the mailboxes of subscribers and the magazine lovin' members of NeoGAF have begun to leak details on the game.

According to a post from NeoGAFer Sallokin, Square-Enix will release its single-player RPG The Last Remnant on "next generation platforms" which I'll assume means the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360. The Last Remnant will be the first title to use Epic's Unreal Engine 3 which the company announced it was licensing earlier this year.

The game is designed to appeal to both Japanese and Western gamers with two main playable characters tailored to each region's tastes. The Last Remnant is directed by Hiroshi Takai who previously worked on The Bouncer and Legend of Mana.

Game Informer subscribes should wait out front for the mailman. Hopefully, we'll learn more about the game when Ashcraft attends the Square-Enix Party 2007, only days away.

I was talking to a guy who knows alot about games before it actually hits the general public, and he was saying SE is in the midst of making a new game with the same characteristics and jobs as FFXI, but will be a completely different mmo. Characters wouldnt be transfered, and you'd have to start all over to play. (Desperate attempt to make more money I suppose.) Then they'd downsize FFXI servers dramatically to conserve what little profit there is.

Maybe thats the game, maybe not~ FFXI isnt exactly the top of the mountain anymore.
 
Im not sure if their attempt would be 'desperate' but more 'milking.'
