Ever been on one job and been treated to having to watch someone you don't know on a whole other job of yours suck at it?
Now, I understand why I often see people failing to tank well on PLD/RDM if they're thrust into the position of having to do so. Most people think /RDM is "just a solo sub" and thus don't learn the techniques, after all. That does not, however, save me from wincing whenever a mob spends more time looking at DDs than at the PLD because all he's using is Flash. Even if I try to point out /RDM hate tools like Blind and Sleep, I'm just quietly ignored, because what could a mage possibly know?
Another one that bugs me is misuse of Atonement. Now to explain, Atonement's damage is dependent on how much hate you've built up. If you have very little hate it does next to nothing, while if you've built up a large amount it can do as much as 750 damage. Unfortunately, not all PLDs seem to understand this. Why do I say that? Because I've seen more than a few PLDs open a fight with Atonement. Now, Provoke generates a good chunk of hate, I'll admit, but it alone isn't going to give you enough hate to make Atonement the best option at the start of a fight. Use Swift Blade or something if you start the fight with TP, for crying out loud! The damage will be higher, and it'll count towards the Atonements you use later.
So, anyone else? -- Pteryx
