I'm still waiting for john Q. to run for office out of the back of his van, until then politics and politicians (specificly) are uselss.
Amen to that. What this country needs is less politicians and a damn sight more true statesmen.
Just outta curiosity, does anyone else find it somewhat ironic that the party behind "Vote or Die" is the selfsame party where this draft reinstatement bill originated . . . both times?
Furthermore, there is absolutely no need whatsoever at present for a draft, and if Congress would just get the hell out of the way, give the military what it asks for, and let them do their damn job, there probably never would be again. I think Sun Tzu's
The Art of War said it best:
It is the government's decision on when to wage a war; once decided, it is the military's decision on how and where to wage it.
In my humble opinion, only two things made us appear to come out on the losing side of the Viet Nam War - politics and public perception.
There's too much partisanship in government; too many people willing to shoot down reasonable and helpful legislation on the basis of it not coming from "their team," in short - too much party politicking.
It's time to send Democrats and Republicans alike the message that you better damn well stand for something
we believe in if you wanna stay in Washington. They need to stop the mud-slinging ads, stop the endless clamoring for the next almighty sound bite, and campaign based off their own voting and attendance records for a change. Think anyone currently in office would have the sack to do that?
Yeah . . . me either.
It's time to vote for people, not parties. Rip the "Vote party" buttons and levers off the damn machines.
