Vang

Speaking as a brd, I done every possible cannon pt out there. BLM is my least favorite, too slow.

Try war cannon in ule. range. Chain #33 231 exp, 12-15k an hour without much hastle. Chaining VT's is for pussies D; IT <3

Any good Melee's job isn't the cakewalk you make it out to be, in my opinion.

And yes, it is mostly instinctual by now.

Not being politically correct, and being a dick, are two different things, or can be.

my skill comes from using Fransicsa on my RNG pre-nerf with all the melee'n i could do, combined with rng acc attributes i leveled it pretty quick.

Still. Most people overlook Axe on DRK.

Now level Great Axe. Steel Cyclone!

Souleater + Rampage 4tw... Steel Cyclone might be interesting since DRK can buff so much. Absorb Str+Vit :D

1843 rampage souleater, 1100 sturmwind, i rock, i got the 2 pimp gaxes already, skill is at like 160. when i planned on taking war up, i was skilling it since dual axes in xp is more efficient.

Sweet

I quit DRK for the time being, but when I come back I have the gil for another Woodville's and a Byakko's Gaxe in the mog safe... I was hitting Rampage 1600-1800 tops @ axe 210 skill (w/ souleater) Gaxe is only lv100 though lol

I hit auto attack, 1 hit before i break 100 tp, i do my tp macro, i ctr+J to check my timers, hit 100 tp, str gear macro, tp call, wait for my partner to start, JA macro if up, sata macro, ws macro, wait for a midget to finish. repeat.

its easy. i've played a lot of jobs into their 50's and none of them have blown me away with their complexity. NIN is cake, SAM is a bit more finesse and i've seen morons fuck up thier tp as SAM, so that might be the hardest job to get.

I can't imagine blm being much harder once you pick up some of the nuancis(butchered that spelling) that fire mentioned, that a majority of the server is probably to dumb to pick up on. this game is repitition, you get your cycle down for your job and everyone sends you a tell on how great you are and your e-penis grows.

can't mnks do the same thing pretty much, i know wars can, i got leech in a war cannon, 9k an hour with my drk/thf

PS Wars, i got two axes and nin sub, invite me :D 74DRK

Damn Meeze. Bonus respect points from me. Not many DRKs bother with Axe, despite getting a good skill level with it.

Huzzah!

Skaw wanna help me continue to do points for decimation?

150/300 (Help me out!)

Only people that say bard is a free ride haven't even reached AF. Notice, it's always true

The problem with your guys logic are that you're looking at this two conflicting ways.

1: Endgame: I've already admitted endgame melees have an advantage, though we're talking about endgame melees who have gone through months of getting god gear and merit points. 10 more more on your Axe turn ITs into VTs, VTs into Ts, ext. For BLM ITs and Ts are already the same. Endgame to BLM is one piece of gear that is hardly better than AF. Endgame to WARs and MNKs is gear that sells for 40M+ on its few non ex/rare forms.

These numbers do NOT apply to actual melees while they're leveling.

2. Complication of Job...?

You get just about for every JA, 10 freaking levels to master its use before you get another one. These JA don't change. They are the same JA you use when you're 10 or 75. The abilities I use a mage do change. At level 1 my WHM uses cure. At level 40 cure is no longer a viable spell to use in an XP PT. As a whitemage the job is more dynamic and constantly changing. As a mage different setups require different strategies. As a melee you'll always be plugging away on autoattack, just maybe might use a different weaponskill...

And Skaw, I have only to say, as far as your 10 pages of macro junk, 90% of it I'm sure is needless junk you don't actually use, what dream world are you living in to assume that most melees have more than a TP call and a weapon skill macro that they use regulary in an XP PT? And maybe they macro their JA if that don't just hit control J and select em manually...? Maybe some crazy dedicated people do and maybe a few QCDNers will come on here on a soapbox and say they've turned the art of melee FF into a science but come on, be serious that's 1% of the FF melee population and probably because it's all pointless ineffective crap.

I can't wait to get a hold of that double attack earring and maybe the triple attack body piece.

/nin with 2 axe can be a bit emasculating when the wars are doing more dmg than you by, well, a lot :( Not that drk/nin can't hold its own, and stun is useful, just that the utility of /nin eclipses the damage of /war for xp/hr.

Sword is next for me, I am curious to see how drk could do with vorpal blade and suppa etc.

Actually it's a good deal of equipment swap macros for optimal damage output. After all, a BLM doesn't need a lot of macros either. They just have them preset, but outside of that, only a handful are used as well. You're in the same boat. BLM is no harder than a Melee job. Quit kidding yourself into a delusional state that it is.

Macro swap...eh? Beside swapping STR versus Accuracy dependant on the mob you're fighting, of using a weapon skill, I fail to see where 2 pages of macros for macro swap are in order. I consider my job harder than yours for the fact that in the process of your job there is less to consider, less possible variety and the standards of what's expected in terms of skill is lowered. A BLM who can't manage MP or nukes stone on a crab is a laughing stock, a melee who does nothing except autoattack and WS... they are the standard.

Sure mage jobs are powerful, but it takes a differen approach to do things with 100% mages as opposed to a melee quotient involved. It's a teamwork game, we were meant to do everything in groups. From xp to WS quests to HNM - you want anything and you usually need help to do it.

Melees support mages and vice versa.

Also - melee is an entirely different world than mage. Some mage jobs get a bit more complex, but as blm you can pump out wonderful damage with little effort as long as your mp lasts. With melee you need gear to keep up, food to keep up, work to keep up. You have to come up with more strategy than "nuke, sleep, nuke, sleep".

In terms of STR macros, WS macros, JA macros, I've noticed that having a time effective macro setup and routine is quite efficient in xp. It becomes a process. Through the well timed use of JA and gear macros I have seen consistent performance in many parties from myself and other dedicated melee. Being as effective as you can be makes you just that; effective, and it certainly does matter :)

I dunno fire - people expect far less of mages due to the lack of availability as well as necessity for most parties. IE: Do you care if the rdm can't stick slow? Yeah - but is he refreshing the pld? Yeah... ok well there are no other rdm 60-62 on the whole damn server who are not /anon so I guess we either xp with a shitty rdm or we don't.

I mean really - I invite a blm or rdm to a pt and what do I usually get? Full AF, some int+ rings, maybe a morion tathlum or a darkstaff if I'm lucky. Usually the rdm goes through with a sword the whole time.

I invite a melee 60+ and I expect to see at least snipers, up to date weapon (usually 200-600k) a couple of other acc or str pieces at the very least. Usually if the melee doesn't show up in haub or SH etc; I start to worry about their dedication.

And I'm not saying your job is shittier than mine, I'm just saying less complicated. For example I consider Ninja more complicated of a job to play than paladin, and having gotten them both to high level I can speak with some authority. We really don't have to go around in a drum circle like a bunch of hipping saying everyone is equal. We've got this politically correct, everyone's the same bullshit so ingrained in our head, for some reason we think that translates into a freakin video game balance.

I can say Ninja is more complicated and requires more skill to be effective than paladin, and in XP Ninja is in most cases more effective for xp, but at the same time I can say I prefer paladin because to me it's more fun.

Just the same, cut the bullshit, of all jobs in the game, Monk is the most easy. You can swap equipment all day long, but you can be an affective monk while going to the bathroom every other fight midway with a bad case of the runs.

Knowing when to Berserk without getting yourself killed in the process. Knowing when to use Counterstance for the same reason.
Knowing when to wait for the right spot of a mobs HP missing to do the most efficient skillchain.
Knowing when to Chakra without A) wasting it or B) wasting a mages MP.

I'm also not talking about "oh I'm hitting fine I'll switch to STR gear" macro swap. I'm talking about equip changing to lead up to a weaponskill macro swap. Equipment changing for Chakras to pump out the HP. Equipment changing for prefight chi blasts. Macros for resist gear as well.

But then again, I really do go above the call of duty for that kind of stuff. I have almost no room to carry spoils by the time I'm done getting things ready for EXP sessions.

And a BLM can be effective by just turning away from the monitor, wait until they hear a skillchain call, then start casting a nuke, then proceed to look away. What the hells your point?

It's all about a level of dedication that complicates a job with perpetually lessening results. Just the same I could if I wanted to fill up every macro slot with BLM macros, half my nukes could equip my uggalepih pendant and half could equip my elemental torque. Half my non-ice nukes could equip Aquilo staff just because I want the elemental magic sometimes versus the dmg boost. I could swap in a serket, astral earring while resting to full and slowly swap INT gear in as I use that MP and I could switch in -enmity gear as I reached the hate threshold to just punch a little further before getting hate, then hell I could swap all back to full nuke mode as I try and get that finishing blow. I guarantee for all the macro swaps you do as a monk, as a mage I could do more. Believe me, in my years of FF I've tinkered with it. But quite frankly, at the end of the day I say fuck it like 99% of your melee bros and allow gear swaps only when I feel like it's going to make a real difference worth my effort.

And it's true parties will let mages scrape by with shit gear, but it's also true mages get spammed with party invites while not seeking trying to farm with anon on.

I ain't arguing with anything more than a friendly tone, I'm just bored so please don't take offense, dualy I'll do my best to ensure my tone remains civil lol ^.~

The very fact that ya think macroing mass amounts of stuff in doesn't really change how good or bad you perform speaks to how easy blm xp seems to be.

As a melee, you can either suck, be mediocre, or actually be worth your salt.

If you're in the latter category you are most likely doing more than any blm in the game in terms of how engaged you are in gameplay during xp and other events.

But to be fair, no job in this game takes a Ph. D to play.
