Friend got into the beta, says it's sick nasty. This is an MMORPG

Can own your own ships and become and pirate and raid other players ships while they are sailing across the ocean to other continents(aka. PIRATE LOLS). Can have your own house, build a city with guildmates, have a 'debate war' with NPCs and have the NPCs send an army and wipe out a player-made city.(O LAWD DRAMA HERE IT CUMZ LOLS) Has a bajillion races, and four continents, the game map is HUEG LIKE XBOX. You get a horse at level 8 and a Flying mount later as you progress. To sail from continent to continent takes approx. 53 minutes real time, but on the way you can do other stuff like PIRATEING ARG GIMME A COOKIE. or fishing and stuff. I dunno.

Races

Thestra(A European type continent with mountains, wetlands, and forests.)

* Thestrans (Human sub race)
* High Elves (Elf sub race)
* Dwarves
* Lesser Giants
* Varanjar (Barbarian sub race)

* Qaliathari (Human sub race)
* Mordebi (Human sub race)
* Dark Elves (Elf sub race)
* Gnomes

* Half-Elves (Elf sub race)
* Wood Elves (Elf sub race)
* Raki
* Goblins
* Orc
(ripped from wiki)

Four tanking classes
Warrior
Paladin
Dread Knight
Inquisitor
Five DDing classes
Ranger
Rouge
Bard
Monk
Berserker
Four Healing classes
Cleric
Shaman
Disciple
Blood Mage
Four Mage type classes.
Sorcerer
Druid
Psionicist

Made by the original developers of Everquest.

The game overall is beautiful, the classes are very detailed.

Crafting

The second ‘sphere’ of Vanguard, crafting will be significantly more extensive and involved, and less repetitive, than in any MMOG to date. Crafting recipes are each made up of a different set of actions you have to perform in a particular order. Each of these actions cost and take from a pool that is known as the action pool. The maximum amount of action points available vary with each recipe. While you are crafting and performing these actions you will have problems arise that can affect many aspects of the process. You can have up to three of these on you at a time and which ones will occur is based on the crafting station you are using, its quality, the recipe and the material you are using. Through experimentation, players will be able to discover new recipes and formulas.

As a sphere, crafting will have its own set of classes and levels. Your character will level up and advance within the crafting sphere independent of the other spheres.

When levelling up a crafting class, players will gain experience from crafting items, as well as some NPC quests. Players will be able to talk to NPCs in the game and get quests to craft items the NPC needs to produce goods. The NPC will give the player the necessary items to complete the quest and the player needs only craft the item. This means a player will not be making a few hundred suits of leather armor to level up and thereby ruin the item market. When a player completes a job for an NPC it stocks up the NPC in items or supplies for services.(ripped off from wiki)

Anyway, I'm off on a caviar hunt. Toodooloo

I have had my eye on it for a while, but it is gonna be run by SOE who fucked up starwars galaxies, so I am a wee bit aprehensive, because they might try overhauling Vanguards combat system after a few months or something. But I am keeping a lookin at it, and I am interested, I like the concept that if you don't wear underwear, and do a kick attack, it causes a stun effect :|

They said that SOE will not play a part in customer support or anything of the matter, they are only dealing with distribution.

I know, but I am still wary of anything associated with SOE. Even if they said SOE were supplying the coffee for the designers, I would be wary.

Coffee Boy: "Lol, you really need that many job classes?"

But other than that, the game does look pretty sweet.

Since the NDA has dropped if anyone has some questions let me know. I've been in game since Beta 3.

Plays a lot like WoW in terms of interface and such, just less cartoony.

No official pricing setup yet. They have always said it would be about the average so $14.95 a month is most likley.

Man I want to play this but I don't want to be playing FFXI and Eve online.

All in all this game is sweet, been in beta sense September and have been jumping from it and FFXI every day. Really looking foward to this game.It will be released to people who preorder the 29th I believe. If your looking for a guild come check out the one i'm in at http://vanguard.sacredhaven.org.

I play it at one setting under the highest graphical quality and get 25-35 fps in open areas, 50-60fps in caves, and when in a city I still average ~20-25fps once all the textures load.

I have:

AMD 4800+
Nvidia 7800GT
2 GB Ram

Buddy's been trying to convince me to jump on this ship when it sails, and I can't say it's been a very difficult task for him.

My brother got a copy of this, might install it in a day or so and give it a whirl.

You on the PvP-FFA server?

No I am on the RP-Prefered server. Once they make a PvP-FFA server with total drop I might roll a character.
