Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Can't say everyone that has left a shell after obtaining Haidate, had in mind leaving after obtaining the item. The only situation where we can be absolutely sure this is true is:

"Player obtains Byakko's Haidate."
"You have dropped a linkpearl."

Or, having concrete proof of the player's intentions. The rest is just speculations, heresay, and at sometimes, plain bullshit.

So...this here implies that you waited out your duration, so you may obtain haidate, and because you disliked the LS so much you'd leave soon after.

This in restrospect: You hated the LS, but you didn't have Haidate. You hated LS but you endured the "idiots" in the LS till you could get Haidate(Your #1 Item you most likely wanted > all.)

Meaning: You hated everyone in the LS, didn't give a damn about the people in the LS, waited till your turn to lot Haidate, then left the LS.

Which means...(I LOL'd, I Keep going on...)You might not of left the LS after you got Haidate JUST because you wanted it...

But you sure as hell waited in that "aweful" LS till you could nab it then ditch.

point #1 already taken out of context. The comparison to RL was just to show that it takes time and work to get up the ladder. Not "omg, ffxi and rl have so many comparisons." Everything takes time and work (unless you're given it for free, obviously)

I sometimes see endgame as a job, where you work towards the common goal of the Linkshell and your personal goals. Yet, you have no benefits, your pay is not biweekly, or monthly, etc. It may come, it may not.

So with this said, what's worst: being in a linkshell for "a long time" and never obtaining something as compensation for your work before quitting; or, being in a linkshell for "a long time" and obtaining something as compensation for your work before quitting?

I ask to retrieve opinions, and is not meant as a counter arguement.

I don't care that he left Im glad hes gone, but to sit here and say he doesn't give a shit about sam and wants to focus on PLD is just Bullshit. PLD shit goes for little and its often free lotted and you also can lot on stuff you can't use yet if you have the points for it. So why not try to get PLD stuff instead if PLD ment soooo fuckin much to you you needed lolmantel, you'd be better over with C.mantel anyways, unless you plan on wearin giant mantel full time, but why would you lol.

There's one flaw in that analogy. When working for a job, everyone within the company works towards a common goal of providing a product or service much like a LS, but that's where it stops. The product is then sold and the money trickles down to each employee. That's to say, everyone gets payed for their work as they do it (roughly) and everyone gets payed at the same time.

Conversly, a LS doesn't pay it's members per event usually. They pay in the form of gear which comes in waves from one event to another. So one person may get a haidate today while tomorrow someone gets a rostrum pumps. So in reality, only two people got payed while a whole lot did the work. The analogy could work if the LS sold the haidates for a set price and then distributed the gil among members. Then members would be free to buy the gear. Or everyone gets a pair of haidates at the same time, pair of rostrums, etc. However, I don't see too many shells considering that type of system.

Your point is also invalid because I still like a fair decent amount of members in that shell, those of which I'll still help out on things if they need me to. You were one of them since you actually acknowledged a facet in which you were wrong, but not anymore.

To clarify, here's a brief history of the recent events involving the two shells and the haidate, and a rough time scale, for those who care.

Note: My intentions here are not to skewer things to make you look bad Flag. I want to tell it how it is, so everyone here knows the facts to base their opinions around. Please go ahead and correct me if i'm missing anything or lacking in details.

Spoiler:

Two runs after obtaining Haidate Flag decided to take a break. He told me he wanted to join only for farming runs (once a week rather than twice) to repay his thanks to the shell for getting his haidate. His reasoning was that he was retiring SAM. This being due to not being able to merit on it because nobody invited him, and also because he was becoming very frustrated playing the job (home pointing after dying to a Claw Cyclone for example).

Now, personally i'd be fine with any of my members taking a break, or wanting to slow down. But the timing was a little too perfect here. Having said that, i was fine with him doing it. I respected that he wanted to hang around to repay the "debt", and wasn't just packing up and leaving. To be honest though, it irritated me to see him retire his only job that could use this piece, when i had a long list of others who would use it and who wanted it more than anything. But whatever, water under the bridge. However... around the same time, he quit dynamis with me for the same reasons (retiring SAM).

Notice that in no way does "hating the leader's guts" come into this yet. In fact, i think this is more of a "backup reason" to help him justify his departure to the readers here, to protect himself. So, after three more attended runs he quit the shell for good- claiming to have had enough of me and how i run things.

With regards to the "hating how Dia runs things" comment;

He only claimed to disagree with one aspect of how i run things. That is, how i dealt with people who made mistakes- and that's all. But the truth is that his problem with me was mostly personal. He'd often take off the social LS when i had a sarcastic attitude with him about something. Now, maybe it's just me who's noticed this, but Flag here is incredibly sarcastic. Possibly the most sarcastic person i've ever met; he lives and breathes sarcasm. Yet, he himself can't take the sarcasm being aimed at him.

To me it just looks like he's making up wishy-washy reasons to justify his departure, but i'll see what you guys think.
