Well, that renders Saotome Haidate completely useless, great.
 
Actually, it strengthens it, I would believe. The saotome haidate enhance third eye by letting it counter. So on top of having free shadows now you can counter as well. Uber imho

It never guaranteed a counter, just gave you a good chance to counter where you couldn't before.

No, before the update the only way to counter with third eye is to use Saotome Haidate; now that you can counter without wearing them, there's no reason for them. I'll have to try third eye out with my saotome haidate when I get the chance, but from what you're saying there's no point to macro them in anymore.

I wouldn't say that. Maybe it increases the likleyhood of countering when you have S.haidate on. I don't think SE would make a hard-earned piece of gear useless with one job ability.

They did it with Tool expertise and Recycle merits, I can see them doing that with third eye too.
 
On the chocobo front...

I did a screenshot of PapaPaprika, registered my whistle and then took another screenshot. I couldn't notice any physical changes, although that's inconclusive because I might have to wait until the next day in his care cycle before anything manifests.

His Strength upgraded to "Impressive" since yesterday, though. I think he's as fast a rental bird now or damned near. Still plenty of time before his mandatory retirement to accomplish a few more things with him.

Must... get... green... chocobo...
 
They probably stack making counter % higher. I just countered 2 attacks in a row with seigan so it's pretty nice.

breifly tested the updates.

third eye has a new icon of course, which i personally think looks retarded, but it's nice. Not quite sure if seigan is required to have the enhance third eye, but from what i seen, third eye will stay at about a 50% rate, diminishing as you go on. One particular gob went: anticipate > counter > gone, so i'm not quite sure if it remains after the counter happens. Was in b.haidate at the time. relic legs have yet to be tested yet.

regaurding utsusemi, the recast timers seem to be greatly effected. The recast for Ni w/ hasso/seigan up is 1:08, ichi 0:45, leading me to belive the slow+ is greater the bigger the spell. +125% slow would be in NI, +50% w/ ichi. progressive slow+% ? idk.... The casting time is greatly lengthened. Utsu: ichi taking nearly 5 seconds (110% of a casting bar) before you hand accually removes from your face and the spell goes off. Ni respectivally the same.

Hasso is a flat +10 STR, from what i could gather, somewhere around +5% haste. acc is unknown. the haste has no effect over utsuemi compared w/ seigan.

Blade bash outright sucks a donkey now.... it's range is that of regular bashes. /em removes that merit.

Overwhelm seems improved possibly. i did 700+ ws's on TW mobs over and over. Was w/ hasso so that could have contributed.
 
I personally like the update. I've only tested it for about 15-20 mins, but I'm sure that I'll like it even more in parties. I'll try to test it out tonight if I can get a pt. Samurai FTW!
