I got a ATI X800 Pro 256mb card thats about 1.5yrs old now I guess and lately its been dropping my FPS to 24-25 for a 5 seconds or so randomly... sometimes almost once per minute it does this hiccup.

Anyone have any idea why or how I can find out?

How's the rest of your stuff doing... is a critical fan getting old / clogged? If not that, I'd consider your PS.

Seemed to fix after rebooting... so I dunno maybe leaving game on all night and having screensaver auto pop up and having Firefox on all the time in the background maybe fucking with memory.

going through a grip of old posts so just posting if its still of any help to u. If you left it on all night then u card mightve overheated . . . try dusting out ur tower and vidcard fan, overheating is a big cause for vidlag. If u notice it does it after a while again, try lowering ur resolution or lowering anything that might be eating up ur vidcard ram (although i dunno how it would with 256mb)

1st. Are you overclocking your CPU or GPU ?

2nd. Is your Mobo Bios up to date ? If the answer is no flash it. a High % of vid problems are easily fixed by a bios flash.

3rd. If it's an ECS mobo throw that bitch away and buy a real mobo, I'll bet thats your problem there.

4th. Are your Catalist Drivers up to date ? https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27

5th. If it is try downgrading it a version or 2

6th. if none of these things fix flash the vid card.

Unless he's OCing and messing with voltages I doubt the PS has anything to do with it unless it's more than 5 Y/o
