Movie Villans for the Dark Knight Rises released

One imagines that if they were going the "BOMB. BOMB." route this time around, they'd have cast someone other than Tom Hardy.

Like a professional wrestler or something.
 
Love the series but didn't follow as a kid. Never knew who Bane was but I think Tom Hardy is awesome!
 
I'll admit to not knowing who Tom Hardy is nor his skill as an actor, but after a quick search I've got to say that I'm not looking forward to seeing someone who stands just 5'9" playing Bane.

I'm hoping there will be a stand-in for when he's pumped up, because otherwise it'll just look silly for someone who's not even eye-level with Batman to try to put him in a back-breaker.
 
They'll pretty much have to rewrite the Knightfall storyline, really, since it just doesn't fit the current movie series. Indeed, I rather expect they'll largely avoid it, since supposedly this is Nolan's last Batman movie. The only way I can really see the whole Knightfall concept working would be to do two films, with the whole broken back bit being the climax of the first.

Hmmm... Y'know, I could kinda see them planning it out a bit further than that, and introducing Bane as a peripheral villian in this film (Rising), then have it come to fruition in the next one (Knightfall), and then do the whole Azrael thing in a third film.

We'll see I guess. :o
 
I wouldn't want them to just remake Knightfall either. After the first 2 movies, I'd be pretty mad to get a story I already know, but I think at this point its like the 29th amendment that any depiction of Bane's gotta hoist up the Bat over his knee at least once.

What I was more worried about was them pulling a 180 and going all brain and forgetting the brawn, and that Bane's huge even without the Venom. Although after my last message, I remembered ol' God-King Uncle Creepy from 300 and I realize they can get the best of both worlds. So here's hoping.

Tom Cruise is, I think, a little shorter than Tom Hardy but you can barely tell due to camera angles/tricks. I think he'll be fine.

As for Bane, as long as he isn't this:

But he was so cute. Like a big, bondage Vader-puppy with jaundice. Come on, who didn't chuckle even a little at: "BOOOMB... BOOOMB...BOOOMB..."?

I think he'd do a good job playing the intellectual side of Bane, but like Ravic, I can't imagine him in a scene where he physically overpowers Christian Bale. It just wouldn't be believable.

He just has to go through a rigorous workout schedule to get semi-ripped for the role and then Hollywood magic can easily make him taller and bigger than Christian Bale. He really only has to appear to be a foot taller or so and physically larger in size which really shouldn't be all that hard to accomplish with today's visual effects and computer graphics.
 
After the skepticism turned awe at Heath Ledger's casting as Joker, I think Nolan has everyone's benefit of the doubt in casting from there on out. He seems to see things in actors nobody else does.
