Virtual Console: Wii-kly Update

Dunno if it's because I'm in the EU or whatever, but NES Metroid has been on VC for weeks now.

As was Lolo

It's an EU thing, yeah. Japanese players have had Metroid awhile, too.

By the way, GameTrailers is doing a 5-part Metroid Retrospective. The first three are available now, covering the NES, Game Boy, SNES and Gamecube incarnations. I'm not sure what they have planned for four and five.

I'll probably buy Metroid, even though I already have it A) on an NES cartridge, B) unlocked on Metroid Prime, C) unlocked on Zero Mission and D) on an NES-compilation ROM for my GBA. I mean... it's just $5.

But Super Metroid has me drooling. I'll be buying that and starting a fresh play-through the day it's available.

I'd love for them to add a GB/GBC/GBA section to Virtual Console, even though GBA are supported by the DS, the carts aren't exactly easy to find most of the time.

I got a Wii Points card about two months after getting my Wii, bought Sim City with it, and have been hanging on to the remaining points for this very reason since. Well, this and/or Super Mario RPG, which I'm pretty sure has an "eventually" date. I can't wait.

This week's offering, including a classic we knew was coming:

Metroid - NES - 500 Points
Shining in the Darkness - Sega Genesis - 800 Points
Cratermaze - TurboGrafx16 - 600 Points

Shining Force, Shining in the Darkness, Metroid....
.............

Goddamn this is a great time to own a Wii!!! XD Whats funny is that I went back and beat some of the Shining Force games on my Genesis.
Now if I had known they were coming out I wouldn't have bought new Sega controllers....

Wow. Quite a lot of games left and right that I've been missing out on.
Eversince I moved my Wii to the living room, I haven't touched it in a long time.

I need to start spending more quality time with my Wii. (lol) :-)

Btw, those wii point cards, do they eventually expire if you do not activate them? Silly question, but just wondering. I've had one sitting around for a long time but when I bought it; I figure I would save it up for a good game on the Virtual Console.

Nah, nothing expires. I've still got Wii points that have been there since I got the Wii. (300 to be exact. What can I buy with 300 points?!)

I have 200 left over. >_>

Got Browser, SNES Zelda and Balloon fight, and now there's just 200 points sat there.

Sega will bring Shinobi III and Landstalker to the VC in the next few weeks. I know the news will make a few people who've posted in this thread very happy.

Landstalker owns my soul. It has come to collect it.

Hmmm... looks like Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is coming our way soon. That'd be handy, since I've kinda been wanting to play that again. Way too many games coming out in the next few months that I want to buy, and then they add in all this wonderful nostalgia... /sigh

Yes, it's the game many of us have been anticipating... and two others.

Super Metroid - Super NES - 800 Points
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master - Sega Genesis - 800 Points
Neutopia - TurboGrafx16 - 600 Points

I've never played this one, but Neutopia II was fucking awesome. I'm buying this tonight.

Awesome.

--edit--

Also, woo Super Metroid. High-five, Nintendo.

I finaly got my Wii working perfectly with my router, so I downloaded Super Metroid and the O.G Mario.

I piggy-backed on my neighbors connection long enough to download Neutopia last night. (My router is kaputski.)

Neutopia is not as sweet as Neutopia II is, but its still a pretty solid Zelda clone. If you're on the fence, find out if they are releasing Neutopia II, and wait for that one. That game is fun as hell.
