Virtual Console: Wii-kly Update

Another week, another disappointing moment finding no Super Mario RPG on the VC(now that I can actually buy the VC titles I've read about week after week).
Least Star Tropics can make up for some of my disappointment.

Yay for early King of Fighters. 97/98 prz.

Pac-Attack - Super NES - 800 Points
Pac-Man makes a rare appearance outside of a maze environment in Pac-Attack, a fun and quirky puzzle game. This unique entry in the genre puts its own twist on established conventions and adds one of gaming's most iconic characters to the mix. The goal is simple: Keep your screen clear of falling blocks and ghosts by lining up blocks horizontally, causing them to disappear. Clearing the ghosts, though, requires the help of a hungry Pac-Man (who just happens to swing by every so often for a snack). It's up to you to get all of the ghosts lined up for him, because Pac-Man will keep eating them until he is stopped by a block or he runs out of ghosts. In addition, his range of movement on the playing field is limited to horizontal or downward—thus adding further strategy. There are three game modes to choose from: 1 Player Normal, 2 Player VS., and the challenging 1 Player Puzzle. Feel like gobbling up some ghosts?

Riot Zone - TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM - 800 Points
Riot Zone is a side-scrolling fighting game that follows two heroes as they fight to take down an evil organization. The crime syndicate Dragon Zone has kidnapped Hawk's girlfriend and it's up to him and his partner detective, Tony, to get her back. Join them as they jump "fists first" into the grim Kowloon district. Play as Hawk or Tony and fight through all five stages in the deadly Kowloon district. Smash down the Dragon Zone goons in areas like the Harbor, Abandoned Warehouse and the Ghetto. Both characters have unique skills and attacks. Hawk is a master of karate, while Tony is a hard-hitter. That being said, both guys are massive and possess killer techniques. The hard-boiled action is enhanced by the game's realistic sound effects.

Craptacular!

Adventures of Lolo 2 - NES - 500 Points
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers - SNES - 800 Points

SF2:TNC is nice...

I wonder why the plethora of great SNES RPGs are taking so dang long to roll out though.

I saw an interesting rumor that Nintendo may release the N64 Smash Bros. to build up steam for Brawl, similar to what they did for Metroid Prime 3. I don't know if there's any truth to it, but I wouldn't mind a chance to play it.

Adventures of Lolo 2 - NES - 500 Points
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers - SNES - 800 Points

Screw you! The Lolo games are freaking awesome. <3

So I hear it's only one title this week? 1080 Snowboarding...
Coming up soon on 200th title though, probably why they are only releasing 1-2 titles a week lately, think todays is 197, so unless they release 3 next week(doubtful) it'll be 2-3 more weeks til #200. I'm thinking SSB(to hype SSBB) or Earthbound(only cause of the masterpieces for SSBB, demos for VC games that star the SSBB characters) for #200

Operation Wolf - NES - 500 Points
Columns III: Revenge of Columns - Sega Genesis - 800 Points

God. What the hell? Why does shit have to be this way? STOP RELEASING CRAPPY GAMES!

Man...

I swear. By the time the next gen consoles come out, the Virtual Library will be barely 1/4 of the way through the entire library of any console.

Least next week is #200, let's hope it's not something crappy.

I did myself a service and bought Super Metroid.
Working on Gravity Suit (or at least I assume, I've just power bombed that tube and am now floating underwater).
Hoping they put up Kirby Super Star eventually. Dream Course is shit, Avalanche is meh, and while Adventure is fun, I have it in a form called Nightmare in Dreamland.

I'm happy for this week's release. I'm not familiar with Lords of Thunder, but we're finally getting the SNES Harvest Moon on the U.S. Virtual Console. Time to clear some brush and milk the cows!

Harvest Moon - Super NES - 800 Points
You bought the farm, so now it's time to roll up your sleeves and try living off the fat of the land. Fresh air and the beauty of the outdoors will be fulfilling, but a successful farm needs a lot of working capital as well. There are buildings on your property, but they are in need of livestock. You have a modest house, but if things get lonely in the field, it's going to take a remodel to woo a female farming companion. Your challenge is to dig in and build your life as a farmer from the ground up. How you manage will determine the outcome, but remember: You always reap what you sow.

Lords of Thunder - TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM - 800 Points
Lords of Thunder is a side-scrolling shooter that has you take on the role of a legendary warrior, blasting enemies to heavy-metal tunes. Your enemies are plotting to revive Zaggart, "The Dark One," who was sealed beneath the six continents of Mistral. It's up to Landis, descendant of the heroic Dyu, to stop them. Choose the order in which to attack the six stages. Before each stage, select one of four magic armors and use crystals you've collected during your battles to buy items. Selecting the right armor for each stage is the key to your ultimate victory. Then get ready to face awesome enemies like a fire-spewing sea serpent or a giant insect. Whether it's the fast-paced shooting or breaking into the fortress of a stage boss, you'll be blown away by the intensity of Lords of Thunder.

Two good releases this week. I'll be buying both.

Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom - NES - 500 Points
Phantasy Star II - Sega Genesis - 800 Points

Oh shit, Phantasy Star II, score.

I couldn't help myself, I was a huge Streets of Rage fan when I was a kid as well as R-type III so I bought both today. God its nostalgic. One thing I wish they would release but I know they wont is Knights of the Round which I'm sure most people here don't know or played ever. It was for the Snes and IMO was the best side scrolling hack and slash character leveling up game back then. I want to snag Fantasy Star II this week too.

Knights of the Round was indeed kickass.
