Okay. I have this problem with Vista. Atleast once a day it will shut down a program saying theres an unknown error. And Bitcomet can't be up for more than 20 mins before it needs to shut down. It's getting really annoying. The only thing that doesn't seem to shut down all the time is Firefox. If I downloaded it, it keeps shutting down. Is there anyway to fix this? <_<;

Sounds like some strange virus. I have had no such problem. Try Utorrent and see if that stays up.

My friends said it might be the new versions of bitcomet. I went back to a old version. As for other programs. I just have no idea. It happens with ALL programs I download. It's been happening since I got the laptop. First it started with VLC which I had a friend copy onto a CD and bring me(was in the hospital at the time). Then it goes with RO, PoL, IWBTG game, and many others. It's extremely annoying.

Sounds like a virus that corrupts your new downloads. have you scanned for viruses or spyware yet?

Atleast once a week. It's been like this since I bought it.

Odd... corrupted file or bad graphics card. FFXI will randomly crash on our new laptop with Vista, it'll ramble off some video card error and either memory dump and reboot the computer or just randomly close FFXI

It won't happen when I'm playing FFXI. Sometimes it'll happen when I'm logging in and still on PoL. Not so much annoyed with that. More annoyed with the fact Bitcomet can't stay open for more than 10 mins. I'm trying to download anime damn it.

obvious fix is obvious

Honestly you aren't gonna want to hear this but I'd suggest running a system recovery (aka nuke and pave... reformat the system). It sounds like some system files got botched either when the HDD was imaged at the factory or in transit to the store you bought the notebook and/or en route to your home.

While I haven't encountered your particular issue, at work I've spoken to people with all sorts of wacked out system issues which went away after a recovery. Reinstalling's a pain but this should've been diagnosed a lot sooner. > .>

edit: for those that don't know I've been doing PC tech support over the phone for Costco customers for almost a year, which means I actually successfully help the many idiots that probably shouldn't be using a computer... all over the phone. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to fix a lot of Vista's sillier problems.

Have you tried running the program as administrator, that tends to work out most of the problems
