Vista problems

OMFG i hate vista i bought a lap top and the default OS was Vista, so well here we go!!!!
Cant connect to any servers other than WoW, i can connect to websites AIM and limewire, but Ventrillo servers/skype/ts/guildwars/ANYTHINGELSE is a NO!!!! any one know what the problem could be other than giving me the response of "its vista" because thats the response i get every time..
oh and now that patch 2.3 is out i cant play wow :\
 
How old is the laptop? A lot of manufactures are offering a free downgrade (to XP) cd. I know HP does this, and I think Dell does as well.

check your firewall; disable user account control.
 
Run as administrator. 99% of my problems are fixed this way.

Vista is superior once you get used to it... just migrating from XP to Vista is what turns so many away. People see something they're not used to that can't be fixed the same way and immediately /panic. I did too for my first couple months on it.
 
i did the run as admin thing since i installed it on here it still doesnt want to work D;

This is probably the best advice of the thread, to be honest.

My dad ran into this problem on my moms new laptop. What he did was had a friend "(notice this quote) downgrade" to XP. Now all her shit rungs fine. Before she couldn't connect to internet or anything. GL with the issue.
