OK, so I'm pretty sure my laptops messed up right now.

First of all, I can't use firefox anymore on it. I don't know why, but it just won't connect to the internet on it. I've tried reinstalling it, it didn't do anything.

Now I really only notice 2 other odd things. Everything I go to shut it down, the option to "Install Updates and shutdown" is there. I do this and it'll still be there next time. Seems to be the same 2 damn updates everytime ;|

Other things, whenever I turn it on, it tells me 2 things are not working.

"OSCheck has stopped working"
"System Symantec User has stopped working"

I'm pretty sure the system thing is my norton stuff which I'm planning on removing and getting another virus protector. But I have no idea what else is wrong with it..

Anybody have any ideas whats going on?! I want my firefox back, especially with all the hacking stuff going on in IE ><

I have only had the misfortune of using vista on a couple of occasions. I'd say the first step in fixing your problem would be to upgrade to windows XP.

XP > MacOS > Vista

Yeah, I said it.

Sounds like an issue with Norton, run the Norton removal tool and install a virus protection that actually works.

OH MY GOD UR SO CLEVAR!!!!oneoneeleven1!!

I wasn't really trying to be. Vista is a piece of shit and should have never made it past Beta testing.

It's really not that bad, having done a lot of PC tech support in the last 9 months has shown me that yes it has issues but it does work if you actually have some idea of what you're doing. edit: of course, that's the biggest problem, but... well... yeah

I didn't install vista. It came with my laptop. And for the most part I like it, so I was hoping there was a solution that didn't involve upgrading or downgrading =P

I'll try removing the norton crap in a bit.

Vista IS a functional OS, but it's a functional OS that has a very flimsy gastrointestinal tract, it gets really really bad indigestion when you feed it stuff it doesn't like
