WAR testing

Just so its not misinterpreted, my last post wasn't an invitation to MNKs for MNK/WAR lol. I'm pretty much done parsing with a group that requires so much curing that haste is only a blessing that doesn't come around often. A possibility would be WAR/NIN MNK/WAR SAM/WAR WHM/BLM RDM/WHM BRD/??? however.

North Thix is a great camp for experience, but not good for parsing damage. There's too many puks scattered in where people can purposely go after them for higher damage while the party is fighting a tougher mob. With the camp we've been at, the only lesser mobs you really encounter are the occasional wyvern from the DRGs
I thought this might be affecting my results (puks scattered amongst mamools) but thus far everyone participating has been very parse-minded and spam TP accordingly attempting to not skew results.

I'll admit I've popped RR on a sleeping puk while our targeted mamool is low on HP, we've all done it in the sessions. But it's a relative rarity and we're only seeing one puk per 4-6 mamool. In any case I'll ask our puller to focus on mamools next time.

Yeah, I'd definitely not plan on going mnk/war in an actual merit, it'd just be interesting to see where they compare with the update.

The issue would mostly come from having different types of weapons with % increase (ie weak to xxxx). An all WAR parse I would think would even out over time, so I wouldn't think it to be too much of an issue for you. The times it would is if someone is receiving a 25% damage increase even on 16.7% of the mobs, which could sway the results slightly. This is why primarily I've wanted to stay in Nyzul with my parses.

lol...well that went right over my head. My bad.

TBH, I'm VERY suprised MNKs haven't joined for the most part in this debate. If I were a MNK and seeing MP-Spongebob Phraustpants doing l33t damage while subbing WAR, I'd be poking and prodding to get into the party while subbing WAR.

Hey Hey Hey buddy..... Mistra Was just as much of a sponge as me... Don't forget that lol...

MP-spongebob Squaremistra doesn't have the same ring to it though ;)

I dunno, I understand that /nin on SAM is a 20% drop off on dmg that most players accept but I still think I could close that gap further. I play as SAM/NIN most merit parties as a standard and typically rank 1st or second highest parse so I wouldnt go as far as to say a SAM isnt top merit potential.

Although I do understand that for other jobs such as WAR its a benefit regardless since yes you do get to use your dual weild axe's so /NIN yields a benefit to you. As far as im concerned since I go as SAM/NIN 9/10 merit parties im willing to go out and say I would still rank one of the top merit choices in your job setup although yes I would lose the 5% DA and berserk. Though im willing to try it sometime as SAM/NIN soboro with serious meats to see how far below I would be.

I guess call me a believer in a good player, merits, and a deep understanding of the utsu timers. Although do believe that I only say a VERY merited and geared SAM can pull off staying close to your parse. No disrespect to Phaust intended at all, I dont know his battle tactics or his exact play style on SAM but I do know my own.

Just my thoughts.

Frosty's playstyle

1) Meditate
2) engage

lol he sure bled alot that night

Didn't notice this until just now, but Mistra... that wasn't an Ushikirimaru.

That was Onikiri. These are not the droids we're looking for...

Aside from that... I do merits as SAM/NIN a lot more than SAM/WAR. I hate how unreliable Seigan is, it failing at a bad time has gotten me eaten far more times than /NIN has lost me top place in the parse. It's not really that hard, drop Hasso for Utsusemi Ni casts between fights, and hit Seigan if Utsu falls. Yea, you lose damage. You lose more damage by being dead, or by not pulling because the healer's out of MP. And MNK/NIN's been losing damage for years, and you don't hear us bitching... much.

If you don't wanna /NIN, then try /DRG. Haste earring, free accuracy, and Jump / High Jump, which is a controlled version of Double Attack. You should have a Brutal/Pole anyway, so you've got a small chance at DA jumps, and those are awsome.

Or just get 4 SAM/WARs and rape shit before it can blink, with 4 sets of Seigan to pass hate between. That's always a fun option.

That was Totsukanotsurugi. Stage 4 relic. Ushi is the same model as Hagun. >_>

There is no Totsukanotsurugi...

Yeah, given a non-testing merit PT, I'd sub NIN and use Fortitude. :P

The ??? refers to me changing my Tampon.

How that makes you profit though phraust, I don't know. For those that don't know me, if you see:
(Jamal) ...
in party chat, you know the bleeding is about to begin lol.

Edit: And if we want to keep parsing...I'm gonna set up conditions to keep my sanity. Help me assault rank up (god I hate assault) for Perdu Hanger so I can bust that out with Ridill, and you can mp-sponge as much as you want ;)

I'm in the same boat as you, and have been prior to all this update stuff. Have no problem topping the parse as /nin (And I don't have B haidates yet). Full merits make a difference. Yes you do lose double attack, zerk, etc but with /nin you do gain +10 acc, +10 str, +10 attk, +10% increase in attack speed 95% of the time, and most importantly, the ability to spam ws at free will with survivability. Using a Hagun, the more WS you do, the greater your TP bonus and damage will be.

I recently got invited to a merit party, I was sam/nin, the leader said "no /war? no thanks". Well I replied and asked him if they were killing mobs fast enough as I went and changed to /war. Arrive at camp, meditate, first WS, 2250 (while things were broken), third eye wears, mob is still at 20%, throw up defender, hit hit hit sponge sponge sponge, I then /p "This is why I sub nin". We were not killing fast enough, I found myself holding TP back waiting for mob HP to get low enough as to not get annihiliated. There are times as /nin where I'll go through 3 shadows, seigan and third eye, basically tank the whole time.

Side note, I tried a Michibisha and Claymore strap after 2h fixes with a 6 hit build in Dynamis and it rocked, topped the parse in both melee and ws damage, and pretty balanced damage wise, melee dmg was close to ws dmg. Crit hits ~ 18-19%. Don't think the parse picks up on crit hit ws'es. Curious to see how this compares to soboro, etc in merits.

Actually, Jamal... the static I run Assault with is in need of a member... I'll talk to Saire about it.

Hook me up yo.

I'd be willing sometime this weekend to go again. I'd personally like some people to put their money where their mouth is. Since there's multiple SAMs saying /nin you never lose, here's the chance to prove it. Party setup I'm looking for:
Mistra: War/nin GA
Phishn: SAM/NIN GK
Me: War/mnk with koenig =p
Brandon (Your ingame name is too long to remember) SAM/NIN or
Phraust SAM/NIN

In case you haven't read the new jobs thread, I'm being sarcastic about war/mnk.
Let me know your schedules, I'm free tonight or tomorrow night shooting for sometime after 9pm.
I'd really also like to do MNK/WAR vs. SAM/??? vs. jug/rid with brd whm rdm...but that's kind of secondary to me, so if someone else would like to spearhead it I'd be willing to join.

Looks fun to me. I'll bring Fort. along. When you tank WAR/MNK Jamal, make sure you use Berserk at all times. Because the enemy will think you're dying (obviously you won't be because you'll be wearing koenig) from hitting you harder, that'll hold hate more. Also make sure to bring a dagger and shield and spam cyclone. The more of his buddies you hit, the better you'll hold hate, since they will all start to dislike you. Hope this helps.

Hows my hellstorm logic? Did I pass? :D
