WAR testing

Considering that great axe was always more powerful than axe/axe on big fights(unless cannoning the fight like kirin/DL); I'd have to say this is obviously applicable to endgame as well; even more so since 2h is now buffed to hell.

Indeed, we burned Kirin yesterday, and for the first time I used a GA.
Always went axe/axe before.
Now I'm not amongst the pimper war's in my shell, but I do have pretty good gear.
I managed 3 Steel Cyclones in about 30-40 seconds, didn't clock the fight.
Did something like 1600 > 900 > 800. Didn't have Mighty Strikes ready though.
Not *that* much better than axe/axe for me, but alot more fun.
Another war in my PT did open with a 2292 SC, and that's quite alot bigger than any rampage I saw on Kirin.

Not to mention a 2k+ SC on Fafnir the other day lol.

This is some great info, thanks to everyone for all the hard work.

Well on my Previousl total: 182,035, with the general consensus that WS are reduced by about 200 damage on the low end, and having done 93 weaponskills, my new total would be: 163,435, with 18,600 being redistributed amonsts all. Mistra loses only 11,600 redistributed. With the reajustments to 1h, Jamal's 140,734 looks more along the lines of about I'd guess around 160,000 - 170,000 being that the mob would be alive longer for more TP gain, thus more WS'ing, leaving Mistra and I prolly a notch lower at about maybe 5k less perhaps as low as 10k less.

I'd LOVE to test this HINT HINT....

My bet would be Jamal @ 28%
Mistra and I would roughly Tie at about 25-26%
and Meexe would take the remaining 20% or so.

In NYC till this weekend, we can then for sure.

I'm leveling /drg for the haste possibilities...wanting to try it using Rune Chopper, and then once hitting haste cap maximizing dmg potential, which I think /drg's inherant accuracy bonus will prove beneficial. Great results there, bigdumbface is going to be greatbighead soon =P

wouldn't /sam be a better choice for haste when u gain 10% from hasso instead of only getting 5% from /drg earring? D: maybe im missing something~

From all I've seen (i.e. nothing since the "nerf") /DRG is inferior to /SAM for WAR main. The only advantage /DRG might have is with something like Amood or Fortitude, where each Jump / High Jump would be able to net up to 42% TP each.

Dont forget to make sure on whether or not dual weilding is > or = to gaxe. I love my gaxe and if somehow dual weilding was the superior option I would quit leveling war again over dual weilding.

My last parse proved GA > 2A but I guess that's all changed now. I've many parses yet to run so I'll be sure to cover that.

We're rerunning my parses this weekend as well. The first one will be me dual-weilding.

As for the /sam vs. /drg, I really think /sam would be the best...but a haste setup using fortitude axe with /drg would be pretty fun nonetheless, and fairly competitive.

This may be a stupid question but I know little about WAR and also little about Great Axes (other than with my 10 below cap skill I was still putting out stupid numbers). However what is Rampager like to use? Do the extra crits make up for it's lack of DMG: when compared to Byakko's Axe etc?

Personally I would like to see a comparison of:

Beserker vs rampager vs byakkos vs fortitude

I think fortitude would win out, but as the other 3 I wouldnt be sure. I was setup to test the 3 before I quit the last time, but I quit and tossed my Byakkos and rampager.

If one of the veteran WARs have tested that I would love to hear the results.

Perdu Axe looks pretty smexy too.

I don't have a berserker, but as far as the other three goes...
Byakko's will do best Steel Cyclone's.
I'd imagine Rampager will have better Raging Rush capabilities these days, for the same reason Senjuinrikio is great for :Jin.
Should be noted that I haven't done any tests, and it depends heavily on the amount of DEX you use on your RR's aswell.
Fortitude wont make many insane ws's, maybe if you leave your Virtue Stones in the ammo slot, I swap in my bomb core.
And let me know if I'm wrong, but you should be able to Triple Attack a ws aswell no?

However, in a merit PT, I would say Fortitude will out perform them all, since you get so many more ws's and numbers are pretty decent to.
I haven't killed many exp mobs with my GA, but my 3rd WS broke 2k, with fortitude so it has potential.

Perdu is probably your best bet vs tougher mobs, but yeah, I'm not wasting points since I dont go war to many events nowadays.

*sniffs the air* I smell merits.

Don't forget about Great Axe's version of the Hagun: Martial Bhuj. If you check the parses, Martial and Fortitude were on par with each other. Also, to Reko, the stones don't proc on WS from my testing with Fortitude. And yes, it can triple attack, assuming you get an activation and double attack at the same time.

For HNM's I would guess Martial is best for Steel Cyclone spammage, maybe even RR aswell.
I haven't read through all the parses, but was it the same person who did a run with Martial and Fortitude at the same camp location?

It was on WS's I asked if it could triple attack, seems like it should be possible.
And if it can, it should outparse martial, that is if the person who did the Fort. parse did swap out the stones for WS.
If the person didn't swap to a core/bomblet, then I guess they are on par.

I know it does it on normal hits, it's what makes it so much fun.
Got a fake-ridill for my pld aswell... :)

Oh yeh, I let that one slip my mind! So many nice GAXE's.

What I want to see is Martial Bhuj vs Fortitude Axe. I haven't tested it out but I can't see Byakko's or Berserkers Axe coming close to beating either of those GAs. If anything Perdu may come close but I think Fort. and Martial would still win out. This is assuming you go /SAM or /DRG and not /NIN.

Yes. All the parses I have posted in this thread were done at the same camp on the same mobs with no competition.

We haven't pit these head-to-head on two different characters, but Mistra did swap between the two on our last parse. First parse in the session he used Fortitude and Martial for the second. Nothing else changed to modify the parse results.

They were very, very, very close results. I'd consider the two equal in terms of total overall damage. Perdu is on the to-do list.

I wouldn't bank much on Rampager. I'd take Berserker's for TP build any day.

Cmdr if you want to run my SAM as well in this test feel free to let me know I would be willing to be on for it if your willing to have me along. Im very intrested to see if I can keep up or possibly match your parse with Mistra and Jamal.

Im fully merrited except on 2/5 STR. 17% Haste build with lots of STR. 7% Double Attack from Brutal/Pole Grip. I also will be testing the soboro vs. the Hagun just to see.

I did a party on the day of the latest update and with my soboro SAM I parsed top damage with a party involving a WAR/SAM G.axe, SAM/WAR with Hagun, and another melee whos job escapes me atm. The point is our WAR wasnt capped on gear or merits so I wanna test how far behind BDF, yourself, or Jamal I fall in terms of parse through the duration of the party since we all are capped on merits bascially.
