Anyone been watchin' the World Baseball Classic? Been some pretty good games thus far. The Nederlands surprised me with how well they played, until tonight, and was really, really fun to watch. Likewise, as always though, South Korea and Japan are hot and so fun to watch compared to what we normally see out of MLB teams. Japan is just steam rollin' right now. Personally, this is my favorite time of the year to watch baseball when the international teams get air time. Good stuff goin' down.

I have been watching the majority of the games. Its been pretty cool so far.

Tho the US stands no chance... None of our players are ready for this level of competition this early in the year...

Netherlands was playing clean baseball until the elimination game. They also played a very sloppy and overated DR team 2x.. Add to that they had some live arms and arms people have never seen before.

Japan for sure looks like the fav in this competition. Their pitchers are in prime shape and beyond that are pretty nasty so far. They all have short swings and play team ball... Except that one clean up dude... He looks like the guy from that movie Best of the Best.. The dude with the eye patch!

The other team i would be scared of is Venezuela.. My god if they ever get their offense clicking... LOOK OUT. They have 2 stud pitchers in King Felix and Galarraga.. And the 9th inning monster in Krod. As it was shown tonight vs Puerto Rico... Get this dude in the game with a lead and its over.

Yeah, I'm not lookin' for the U.S. to win it either, nor do I want them to. I really hope Japan wins it or Korea. Those tow teams play baseball how it should be played, small ball. Instead of waitin' for big Barry to step up and relyin' on the top of their orders everyone makes somethin' happen. Stealin', bunts, hit and runs, both teams do it all and with great precision. I really wish there was a way to watch their leagues over here. I know I'd definitely can wathin' MLB games, Braves aside, if we could choose to watch Asian baseball.

When the U.S. played the Netherlands it was just pathetic on the Netherlands side. They played worse ball than U.S. high school teams. Simple mistakes like not properly judgin' fly balls after a bounce and fence bounces cost them 3 runs and a bad cut-off mistake cost them another run. That's not includin' the people who scored off base hits after these simple mistakes, just the run it cost them in the process of the mistake. Simply pathetic. Had it not been for so many careless mistakes I think they'd have played better ball all around and the game would have been a lot closer if not endin' with them winnin' as they just seemed to self-destruct afterward. Grown men shouldn't make those mistakes, they were little league mistakes at best.

I was watchin' Cuba and Mexico earlier today and saw somethin' kind of ironic to me. The team doctor for Cuba is Fidel Castro's son, haha. Another funny tid-bit on that, the man looks like a white American. I bet momma had a go with the milk man on vacation.

Ya the Cuba team is not able to be alone. They cant leave the hotel without "security". Ouch.

Finally some real fuckin baseball. I moved back to New York a few days ago and the boricuas here go nuts when Puerto Rico is playing. Japan is definitely my favorite. I thought I was going to be in for a good match the other day when Japan and Cuba went up against each other since it was 06's final. Well it was good, it was just a fucking slaughter against Cuba.

This shit needs to be said...

Alot of people bash on David Wright because he has not been able to lead the Mets into the post season. They automatically group him up as a September failure because his team fails in September... The dude batted .350 last September. With that said...

It was great to see Wright walk it out tonight.. He just needs a little umph to become a key clutch player. Cut down on the monster swing maybe lol... Great start on that tonight and great job coming through tonight.

Oh and see you PR lol...

Now back to reality... Are we going to flop against Venezuela? Prolly...

Japan just didn't look good at all tonight, almost like they were burnt out or somethin'. Hopefully they can pick it back up and peace Cuba out.

I agree about Wright. And I hate how people make baseball out to be a one man sport sometimes, it's never is. He could have batted .500 in September and the Mets would have still Canned. Gotta love New York media though, they love to play pin the tail on the donkey with their sports clubs. That hit he put out in the 9th was excellent, he couldn't have placed it in a better location. However, had that been a full MLB team they was playin' it may have not fell. I noticed that right fielder was playin' a shift and you just can't do that in a situation like that with a team full of MLB players. Not only that, but that fella was way the hell out of position for even a proper shift. Poor coachin' right there.

They are a very lazy defensive team. They showed up half asleep tonight and it will be the end of them here. In a Venezuelan dream they could come back because they have a monster lineup... this is reality though. Korea has a bullpen full of MVPs and award winners in Korea. They wont let this slip.

Indeed.

Venezuela played horrible with what 5 errors? I know its far too late.. I know there is no proof the results would have been different... All i am saying is.. Why the F didnt Felix Herandez pitch tonight? Looks to me like Dumb ass Luis sojo was planning on Mondays game for King Felix lmao. I had a dumb ass coach do this to me in the national championship. Ass hats.

They use little league pitchin' rules, as in, if someone throws a certain amount of pitches in a previous game they can't pitch the next game, one games rest. It's absurdly low considerin' these guys are adults, the WBC rule allows for only 30 pitches... In my leagues from ages 9 until 19 they allowed up to 60. He may have been under that clause, I'm not sure though, I turned the game off pretty late so they might have used him late for all I know. I know this though, savin' pitchers durin' a tournament for a future game is stupid. I've only lost a few tournaments in all my time spend playin' ball, from age 7-20, and we always played every game like it was our last. That's how you win a fuckin' tournament.

I don't think Venezuela could have beat Korea anyway, those guys are on a different level all the way around. Venezuela broke down early, and even if they could have had a chance to pull their shit together, they just quit... The way the catcher and a few infielders were reactin' to their blunders just pissed me off. They didn't deserve to be on the field. Then again, the WBC is a long drawn out tournament, to long and drawn out imo, and I guess some people just don't have the stamina for it and crack.

I'm glad the game wasn't very close though. There was some horrible officiating goin' on for both sides. Guess those dudes have cracked as well.

USA made a good move! Roy Oswalt will start tonight instead of Peavy. Does not mean we will win but man Peavy was bad his last start. We are far too hurt to stand a chance. It would be interesting to see if Longoria is joining USA though.

EDIT: Just checked and Longoria is on the roster! Maybe someone can get hot and carry us for 2 games.

We just ain't got it to beat a team like Japan. Those guys came to play baseball while we're still in break mode.

I mean we do but we dont. You could take any of the top 3 teams in the AL east mid season and they would stomp each team in this tourney... So we have the players here in our league.

On the other hand we will never win this tourney. It just does not work with the current MLB schedule. Beyond that our players are streched very thin here in the US compared to these other countries seasons. There just is no time where a US team could be in peak shape to play and not risk our regular season.

It sucks but thats the main reason the whole WBC is still a flop and gets horrid tv ratings and fan showings.

I personaly think this is a great competition... But i know for sure the US will always be at a severe dissadvantage. We will always fall short here... you could even say it will make this tourney short lived. All it will take is one MLB player having a serious injury, which will happen at some point.

Don't get me wrong, the MLB is the ultimate league in baseball, but the mind set and diversity of players here makes it harder for them to win the WBC, not to mention it's durin' their warm-up season. I bring up diversity because I'm pretty sure most MLB players who participate in this tourny do so for their own country and the MLB teams are very, very diverse teams, where as the others are not even as close. Though I'm not 100% I'm pretty sure players from another country who where just brought in the NA for the MLB can't play for the USA, they have to play for their home country. The reason I say this is because they were sayin' if A-Rod played he'd be unable to play on the USA team. The reason I'm not 100% is simply because I haven't looked it up nor looked at the U.S.'s roster, just listenin' to chat leads me to believe that.

Yeah, it's a shame, but more so that this is true. I don't find MLB very inspiring to watch. Watchin' Korea and Japan play, in every WBC I've been around for, is a pure treat. They don't play like we do, and I love that.

I think the tourny will last until baseball as a whole collapses. It doesn't all hinge on the MLB, though I'm sure they pay the pretty penny. This is the olympics of baseball afterall. The best thing to do here to put the US at havin' a better shot is to fill the roster with either minor league players or collegiate players. That's what I see them doin' if this somehow hurts the MLB, which I doubt it does. I see it becomin' to troublesome for the MLB to staff and organize around MLB players and their health.

A couple of things i need to be ironed out so i can take the tourney more serious...

There is no Puerto Rico team. You are part of the USA. THANK YOU.

There is no Netherlands team. If your team consists of people from a country or island arcoss an ocean... They are not from your country or island.

The Arod thing makes this tourney a big joke in the US. In 06' Arod played for the US. Now he is not allowed to, but he can play on the DR team... Wtf... Stuff like this becomes a large joke here.

Wow, the play that got the second out in the bottom of the fifth was just excellent... I hope you saw that, it's exactly why Asian baseball excites me so much, a MLB player would have played the safe hop and give up on the runner.

So its over now.. Though i love to see all the different styles play each other and appreciate the different view of the game.. I am glad the focus will be back on the MLB. I actually like our style of baseball more lol. Its just fun to watch all styles at some point.
