WBC

I really enjoyed the WBC, to be honest. The passion the Korean, Japanese, Puerto Rican, etc. fans have for their teams is amazing. I'm a die-hard Sox fan, as live-and-die as they get, and those fans are every bit as crazy about their teams as I am about my Sox, except it's coupled with National pride as well.

As far as the baseball goes, Buster Olney was talking about some crazy plan of getting rid of the All-star game (Who cares, really), and moving the semi's and finals to the all-star break... I think that's a horrible idea, mostly because it continues with the "It's all about America" mindset. The MLB players would be in prime condition but who can say the same for the Korean league or Japan league players? I have no doubts that in mid-season form, barring injuries, the USA would be the favorite, but that's just not practical to play it then.

Either way, it was a lot of fun to watch.

Even with the mid season idea it still would not work out for US. It may be worse. You would never get Rollins, Wright, Pedroia, Youk, Jeter, ect... Mid season. The teams they play for are in a pennent race from day one of the season.

I just see 2 things happening. The whole thing dies out due to Japan winning every year.

or.

They continue the competition with horrid ratings. US kinda gives in and just puts young players in there or "less talented" players.

Either way i just dont know if the tourney could continue with how bad the attendance and ratings are.

I loved watching the games tho.
