Well, Brett has done it again.

Brett Favre is the single most overrated player in all of sports.

Wah wah look at me. Now I've got to listen to all the analysts sing his praise 24-fucking-7 because he's the most amazing QB ever to play the game..........................sigh.

I deff wouldn't say he's the most amazing quarterback ever, but i don't think there's any denying that brett favre IS an amazing quarterback. I don't like the way he's been doing things recently, but regardless he will go down as one of the greats.

I wouldnt say most amazing or most overated. As far as one of the greats... He is not even in the top 10 QBs of all time. He was a great player, sure. There are just far too many great QBs to place above him.

I disagree that he isn't top 10. That of course is your opinion. You make it sound as if it's fact or critically right, where as most critics debate if he's top 5, let a lone top 10.

So easy for people to forget his first 15 seasons. Just because he's been a drama queen and has gotten OLD, doesn't make his accomplishments less.

Lol, this is ignorant. Stupid statements like this need to be called out.

Edit: This reminds me of one of my all-time favorite SC commercials, it was a long one, and in part of it Stuart Scott and Evander Holyfield are talking:

Stuart: Evander, you know Charley Steiner says you're not even in the top 50 boxers.

Evander: In the world?

Stuart: In Georgia.

Next scene is Evander Holyfield running around the building and Charley Steiner huddling under a desk. Evander is yelling, "Charley come on out and get your whoopin'"

Let me break out some "stats" from a few considered top 5.

Lets start with arguably the best.

Joe Montana

Comp-3409
Att- 5391
Yds-40,551
Td's- 273
Int- 139
117 wins
4 superbowls
8x probowls
2 mvp's
15 starting seasons

Ok breaking down good ol Joe. He's more known for his 4 rings. Of course isnt that how a player is judged in the end...rings? But that is not completely fair obviously, as there are factors as to why teams win and lose and the discrepancies between them. That 49ers team could be the greatest team ever. Joe had Jerry Rice to throw too, a top 5 defense for 8 years. A great ground game.

Looking at Joes stats, he wasn't asked to throw a lot. He threw 134 more td's then interceptions and he was clutch with the game on the line. Truly a great player

Dan Marino (the one favre is more compared too)

Comp-4967
Att- 8358
Yds- 61,361
Td's-420
Int- 252
147 wins
1 MVP
1 superbowl appearance
9 probowls
17 starting seasons

Now. How can he be considered better then Favre from a statistical stand point, winning standpoint, superbowl stand point? Well he's considered the best pure passer ever. I can't argue with that based off these stats alone. What I can argue is this, while there stats are very close, Favre made it to the big dance twice, and won it once. Favre also has 20+ more wins. These two were in the same situation virtually. Neither had any true Receiving threats, which is why these two CAN be compared.

Brett Favre

Comp-5720 (1st)
Att- 9280 (1st)
yds- 65,127 (1st)
Td's- 464 (1st)
Int- 310 (1st)
3 time MVP (tied 1st)
7 division championships
1 superbowl appearance/1 Superbowl win
291 Starts (in a row counting playoffs)
169 wins (1st)
10x probowls

Now. To my point. Favre is the leader of every category, even int's. This automatically puts him in the top 10 at least because he does have a superbowl win and another appearance. He wasn't a product of the system. He HAD no weapons. Favre had Sterlin Sharpe for just small bit, then he got injured. Favre also has a better TD/INT ratio then even Montana, but yet he's criticized about his interceptions. YOU can't even compare the two! Of course he's gonna have more interceptions then ANY other QB because look at this stat... ATT 9280! He's been asked to throw more then any other QB in the history of the sport. The ratio for him making more mistakes is much higher then a QB who only attempts 4-5k for his career.

Favre has 169 career wins. Why? Because for most of his career he was super clutch, just like Montana. He has ton of game winning scores. But Favre never had a Rice, Moss type player so therefore, the point im trying to make; it's not fair to compare QB's when every QB is in a different situation.

I like to rate my QB's on the talent that they play at their position and the level they play at it. I'm not rating a QB based on how great his defense is, their running game, or a WR who is good on any team they play one. That's not fair to a QB who isn't in as good a situation.

My top QB's

1. Joe Montana
2. Johnny Unitas
3. Fran Tarkenton
4. Brett Favre
5. Dan Marino
6. Peyton Manning
7. John Elway
8. Tom Brady
9. Steve Young
10. Roger Staubach
11. Ken Anderson
12. Dan Fouts

Eleven and Twelve could easily be interchangeable with Aikman, Bradshaw, and Bart Starr.

When Manning and Brady retires, they'll move up, with Manning probably IMO being the best to play the position.

Terry Bradshaw and his 4 SB rings along with Aikman and his 3 are wondering where they land on your list. I know you rate talent around them, but you can't argue with winning the big game that many times.

I do that put that in perspective. I thought about replacing Dan Fouts with Terry Bradshaw actually. He was another guy where much wasn't asked of him till the playoffs, where he performed at a very high level. Aikman is another in that same category. Neither would break my top ten, but could easily be 11 and 12.

I just put Dan Fouts and Ken Anderson because those guys are never talked about, but they were great actually. Also, it's arguable that Unitas was no.1

I understand you laid out criteria for your top 10. However, Sammy Baugh as the godfather of the passing QB should belong on every list, just because he was the first. Of course if it wasn't him it would have been somebody, but he definitely was the first to define the position. But anyway, I'm not picking apart your list, that's the beauty of sports, everyone has their own criteria for rating their favorite/best players.

Well I'm more referring to the Modern Era lol.

Please shut the fuck up. I am ignorant because Bret is not in my top 10 all time QBs? Its an opinion. At least Anglis has some respect and approached it differently.

No order.. Ten QBs better then Favre.

Terry Bradshaw
John Elway
Dan Marino
Joe Montana
Joe Namath
Bart Starr
Roger Staubach
Johnny Unitas
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady

There are more... Should i name them as well?

Sorry to break it to you Cletus but favre does not break everyones top ten.

Good list, the only I don't agree with is Joe Namath. I always thought he was highly overrated. Had a losing record and threw more interceptions then td's. Granted, he had no talent on offense around him.

I do respect your opinion of favre not being the top 10, calling it ignorant is a bit overboard. However, i feel that if Favre was a better person, team mate and less of a drama causing diva, that you might feel he was in the top 10. Im not sure what else he would have to do to qualify in your top 10, he ranks 1st in wins, tds, yards. Perhaps hes not a top 10 passer, because he was a gunslinger, but his consecutive game streak is really amazing.

Hes done some amazing things, and justifiably should be in the top 10. its just the side stuff that has hurt him. Similar to T.O perhaps not as bad. I consider T.O a top 10 WR of all time, but many will disagree.

Also, its very hard to compare QBs of different Eras, personally if we forget about wins, superbowl wins and just look at QB Ability and skill, Marino was the best of all time imo.

If the injury does not change what he is able to do... Brady will be the greatest of all time when he is done. I dont even like the guy and am amazed by him.

EDIT: I wanted to ask who would you have taken out of the 10 QBs i named to fit favre in?

While I do apoligize for being a dick in my post, I won't apologize for saying the post was stupid. This is what you're saying:

The guy who is #1 in completions, attempts, yards, touchdowns, MVP's won, wins, and starts is not in the top ten ranking.

You may not like the guy, but you can't argue against the facts. Calling it an opinion does not make it any less ignorant. Saying, "Hey I don't like the guy" or "I feel like he's a diva that craves media attention" those two statements can't be argued. But saying the guy is not one of the greatest QBs to play the game is a little silly. I would hazard a guess to say you're not old enough to have seen anyone other than Montana, Marino, Elway, Brady, and Peyton on your top 10. When all you see is someone's career highlights, then you're not getting a good picture of their career.

There is no doubt he was a great player. He is not on my top 10 list. Most of the stats you quoted prove one thing... He played a very long time.

Brett Favre is like Nolan Ryan to me. Both incredible talents, both among the best for a period of time in their career, both are very unique and have some unique numbers to show.. But they both failed just as much as they succeded. They both will never be considered among the top 10 of their position to me.

Again, facts. You did not dispute the point that you haven't seen anyone other than the five I mentioned play, so I'll take it a step further and take Marino and Montana off the list. So here are your top 10 with the amount of years they played:

Terry Bradshaw - 13 seasons
John Elway - 15 seasons
Dan Marino - 16 seasons
Joe Montana - 15 seasons
Joe Namath - 12 seasons
Bart Starr - 15 seasons
Roger Staubach - 10 seasons (4 years in active duty in Viet Nam)
Johnny Unitas - 17 seasons
Peyton Manning - probably has 4 years left
Tom Brady - probably has 8 years left

And Brett Favre? This will be his 17th season. So with the exception of Willy Joe, Terry Bradshaw, and Roger Staubach, it's hard to say that he's played a lot longer than all the other QBs. Again, you're letting 70 year old commentators influence you by talk of the glory days.

And those "Glory Days" are the days when football was alot tougher. You could argue players are bigger and faster now with PEDs but the game has far more rules now to make it softer... So why would that make older legends less appealing?

EDIT: If your apology is real then i appreciate it. I can talk logically with you here.

Going to take it further because some of those older legends are legends simply by what they did in the playoffs and superbowls.

Lets look at favre..

Since 1997 he is 3-7 in the playoffs.
His passer rating in his last 12 playoff games is 77.8.
He has thrown 18 INTs in his last 9 playoff games.
There are the 2 rediculous INTs in overtime in the playoffs... But hey there is another record. Favre is the only QB in the HISTORY of the NFL to throw 2 OT INTs in the playoffs.

My point is he has been mediocre for a long time now and people just cling to his balls and dont call him out. He stayed in the game to build and build numbers when he was washed up 10 years ago.

That is why the argument about best QB will never be settled. There are plenty of pro's and con's for both sides. I would say though that PED's while not in the same form, did exist back then. But QBs aren't the only ones taking PED's. Linebackers, D-Linemen, DBs are all exponentially bigger, stronger and faster than even what Marino and Montana played against. In my opinion, the only arguments for QBs before the 70's is the fact that the game was different, it was a smashmouth-run oriented game, and the seasons were shorter. Today's athletes are far superior to athletes of 20 years ago. Very few skill players and even fewer position players from the past would make it in today's game. Notable exceptions being Jim Brown, Walter Peyton, and Jim Marshall.

Edit: And yes, my apology was sincere. No sense being a dick on the internet.
Edit2: Totally forgot my main statement. My argument for Brett Favre in his latest playoff games is that he felt the need to do too much. He did not have the supporting cast to win playoff games, so he put the team on his shoulders and failed. He was clutch in too many other situations to hold a couple of bad playoff games against him so harshly though.
