That would be hilarious.
count me in!When Fred Phelps kicks the bucket, I'd love for hundreds of people to "protest" his funeral with signs and people screaming "Jesus hates intolerant inbreeding hicks."

I go to Northern Illinois University. Two years back we had a former student open fire on a completely unprepared classroom and the resulting death toll was 6 people and many others injured. Not a single day had passed when Westboro was picketing the funerals of completely innocent, completely unjustified deaths because they went to a school that "developed and cultivated a relationship with homosexuals." You have no idea how much it hurt to see these people outside my school with their signs. After my wife and I were so close to the attack we heard the shotgun blasts and saw the bloodied and frantic students running out of their classroom. For them to say that we deserved it? No god, no law, no person should protect them from that.
There is a difference between "Free" speech and "Hate" speech, in my book. As an atheist, I want nothing more than to see these fools silenced. They have a job as an American citizen to benefit their society as a whole. Depressing students outside a massacre and word-defecating on grieving families is far enough. Their message of hate, while in completely legal systems, does not deserve to be heard. We can condemn and ignore them all we'd like, but in the long run they are setting America, the human condition, and their religion back about twenty years.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Phelps-Roper said the church is an independent Baptist church, not affiliated with any Baptist organization. It has about 70 people attending services, and about 80 percent of those attending are related by blood or marriage, she said.

we should really show up and get a courus of "Oh Happy Day" going, so loud that it drowns out their ceremony
I really struggle with this issue. Personally, I would really have no problem seeing these people beaten down, or even to death. Idk why really, I guess that is kinda disturbing, but I would not help defend their right to life. I wouldn't take it personally, but I would be pleased to hear they were mowed down.
I might defend the right to speech though. I know I have weird logic (conflicting) with this stance, but eh. I am logical with almost everything else, for some reason I am also okay with being illogical about this.
Probably because it's not free speech, but harassment and incitement.
Bill O'Reilly To Pay Court Costs Of Fallen Marine's Father
Fox News host Bill O'Reilly will pick up the legal tab of the father of a fallen U.S. Marine after a judge ruled that he must pay the court costs of the members of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church, who he sued for protesting his son's funeral.
This particular church is infamous for protesting the funerals of U.S. servicemen with signs saying God killed the soldiers because of homosexuality in America, among other things.
O'Reilly called the legal fees an "outrage": "I will pay Mr. Snyder's obligation. I am not going to let this injustice stand."
I think Bill O'Reilly is douchebag blowhard for the most part, but this is a classy move on his part:
