What anime are you watching/reading?

Golgo 13 (Anime about an assassin, kicks ass. It has a slightly slow build up but then it becomes explosively awesome)

Rumor has it that the people subbing this anime will not be proceeding past episode 13. Unless someone else picks it up, you'll be stuck. I'd wait and find out more about that if I were you.

I just watched a new Anime, Ga-Rei: Zero and it's lookin' to be pretty badass.

I mean...

Spoiler:
What other anime has the seemingly, or even the true, perhaps, main characters all killed off in the first episode. Friggin' win.

Also watching Hyakko and X'amd: Lost Memories (not on the PS3 of course, that's so stupid) this season.

I finished 'Final Fantasy: Unlimited' this morning and I have to say it really wasn't that bad. I definitely wouldn't call it a bad anime since I have watched way worse. The only thing was that it starts off so slow, the action and story don't pick up until about half way through the series. And then all the really good stuff is crammed into like.. the last episode. Which was nice, at first I was pissed at the ending. But the end credits helped by showing what happened to some characters and answering some questions.

All in all, I wasn't dissapointed. For all the negative things I've read and heard about it, it was better than I thought it would be.

Next up is a series I chose out of randomness. I was out looking for an anime series that would be long (24-26 episodes) and looked like it would be cool to watch and I came across Shadow Skill. Seems like its an action comedy and the art style seems cool. On the back it says its from the creators of Tenchi Muyo and Amazing Nurse Nanako, both anime's I've watched and enjoyed. So I figured I'd give this one a try. I'll let you all know what I think when I've finished it. :3

I finished watching Code Geass and i pick up a new anime , Casshern SINS only one ep so far

i really like the art style , kinda look like persona 3 / SMT style

Maybe I haven't made it clear above, but the word otaku had absolutely no reference to anime until people outside Japan started calling themselves that in reference to calling themselves anime fans.

The Japanese word otaku itself is an insult and I recommend you not to take that word into your mouth if you ever happen to be in Japan.
Same goes for a couple of other words that the western anime fans like to use.

From wiki:

-Otaku (おたく or オタク, Otaku?) is a Japanese term used to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly anime, manga, and video games.
-In modern Japanese slang, the term otaku refers to fan of, or is specialized in any particular theme, topic, or hobby. Common uses are anime otaku (a fan of anime ) and manga otaku (a fan of Japanese comic books or manga), pasokon otaku (personal computer geeks), gēmu otaku (playing video games), and wota (pronounced 'ota', previously referred to as "idol otaku") that are extreme fans of idols, heavily promoted singing girls. There are also tetsudō otaku or denshamania (metrophiles) or gunji otaku (military geeks).

The def Shirai is talking about is where it means pedophile I'm thinking and that you are after lolis

And Wiki is always right!! >.>

As I said, the word Otaku only has that anime related meaning with the younger generation and only because us western anime fans started using it.
Aside from that an movie Gainax made called Otaku no Video only fueled that idea.

However that does not change that the word Otaku (Fanatic) is an insult.
If you haven't seen that movie, I do recommend you look for it and reconsider if you want to keep calling yourself Otaku.

Just finished the first half of Buso Renkin, such a good anime from what I've seen so far. The second half came out on Tuesday so I need to make a trip when I get paid. Papillon, made me lol when I first saw him. xD

Also just finished Noir, one of the gratest series I have seen in a while.

And I just started Fate / Stay Night, only two episodes in but I'm enjoying it so far.

After that I need to re-visit The Get Backers... xD

Just sayin.

Lol point taken.

Also that movie is from 1985, its not like its relatively new.

Never said it was, but it is still a nice title to see the Japanese view on 'Otaku'
Which it still is pretty much these days.

Perhaps a more recent title would be Welcome to NHK

Welcome to the NHK is so damn depressing D:

I have that and need to watch it. Maybe when I'm done watching tsukihime another 10 times because its just THAT FUCKING AWESOME. Yeah thats right.

Oh and I watched "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" last night and it was a pretty good movie. I'd say all the good scores/reviews it got were deserving, I enjoyed the watch.

And Bleach is finally back up tonight, get back to the good shit and about damn time. I want to see Nel own some bitches ffs.

They release the English dubs yet for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time? I saw english dubs at Otakon and don't wanna watch it in Japanese. lol

Did you just say dubs? Lol fail.

But I'll check the version i have when I get home and let you know.

The dubs were actually pretty good.

Also watchin' ToraDora this season.

Myrrh, I think you'd love Hyakko and ToraDora, if you're still in that slump. They've made me go from a "meh" this season to almost wanting to see them as much as the new Vampire Night season.

I'm about halfway through ShadowSkill and it's a freaking badass anime so far. Action/Comedy with a good story and great characters so far. It's animation style is very nice, its like a cross of Slayers, Tenchi Muyo and Armitage III all in one.

You were there and didn't say hi? how did you miss me? How many fat, hairy, pale Otaku could have been in that room....

Actually I didn't see the sub but I heard the dubs were pretty much spot on. I can't complain it was a fucking awesome movie.

"Please leave all your bags and valuables at the back of the room. We hold no responsibility over them" Remember that? lol
