What anime are you watching/reading?

Okay Aurorastar I finished up Elemental Gelade last night and here's what I think.

It's an okay anime, good even, but nothing all that special. I did enjoy it though. It's kind of your typical shonen (I think?) anime, so if you've seen other anime's like Buso Renkin, Black Cat, ect. this one's kind of like that. You have your young whiny male hero who discovers a young female with a power that changes his life forever, bad guys ensue with their bad selves, our hero decides to stand up to them with the girl whom he comes to fall in love with and together they bring peace to the world. Or something like that.

It is a really colorful anime, like.. the only dull color would be black, everything else is WOOSH COLOR!!!

There were a few things that bugged me; One of which was some of the voice actors. Ren (our hero's love interest) has absolutely no emotion in her voice for about 98% of the anime. I don't know if her character is suppose to be like that.. but I have a feeling a little emotion wouldn't have hurt any. Secondly, I swear.. it's like blood is nonexistant in this world. They do not show people being killed, it's only obviously implied, yet there are quite a few people that are killed off. Even in a scene where one character turns to stab another and that other character ...I guess stabbed the first character as well.. IT ISN'T SHOWN, All you see is from the chest up on the scene and then them separating. That's weak for an anime.

Also, I would have to say, the coolest thing in the whole show was probably the first episode. Why? Because you have Pirates vs. Ninjas. Fuck yes. End of story. I was happy when I saw that. But yeah, I would say, all in all. It's worth buying. I really did enjoy it despite the few things that bugged me.

Next up to watch on my list, Full Metal Alchemist (season 2).

I guess someone messed up or something. I was going to Best Buy to check and see if they had the Hellsing Ultimate box set out (which they didn't) and I saw FMA season 2 out. Which according to my information isn't suppose to be out until after the 10th. I was going to pick out Air Gear, but then I saw FMA season 2. Sorry Air Gear, you'll have to wait for later.

Thanks for the review, it certainly sounds like something i'd buy XD, so I may try and find it soon. The plot sounds similar to 1 or 2 anime I already own so it makes sense to try it out.

I've just finished watching Mezzo DSA and Ai Yori Aoshi (both seasons) prior to that. Mezzo was a fun 13 episode anime that had plenty of action and never really came accross as boring at any point. It was a bargain since I only paid £3.99 for each of the 3 volumes (around $5.50 each). I loved Ai Yori Aoshi too since i'm a lover of most of the Romantic/Comedy genre and had to buy this when I heard it was like a more "Japanese Love Hina". Which I don't disagree with, and in fact it has an essence of Ah! My Goddess in it also but without the magic and bad guys wanting to rule the world. It was incredibly hard to find since it's one of the older Geneon/Pioneer titles that didn't get aquired by Funimation and thus it's quantities are dwindling. I had to rely on good old eBay to find this, but it was definately worth it.

Hmmm, whats left? (Looks at shelves)

It seems like I have Chrono Crusade, Fruits Basket and Clannad pt 1/2 left to watch currently. And Rumbling Hearts once my lazy online supplier actually gets some stock of it to send me ....

Yeah, Mezzo DSA was pretty good. I kinda wished for more actual story but it was still entertaining.

Out of the ones you have left to watch, I suggest Fruits Basket.. since it's the only one I've seen in that list. A really cute romantic comedy with a damn good (and darker than expected) story behind it all.

WOOT!!!! Katsura Hoshino has ended the hiatus on D.Gray-Man! WSJ released The 179th Night: Timothy Innocence.

Finished up watching Full Metal Alchemist again, for probably the third time. Just, this time I actually owned it. I so wanted to watch the movie immediately afterward too, but it was too late to do so at the time.

I just started reading Deka Wanko, its a new Josei manga done by Morimoto, the mangaka that brought us Gokusen! Deka Wanko looks like its going to be super funny. Its about this female detective with a super human sense of smell lol

Bit of an update, Still reading/watching Bleach and Naruto, continuing to read D.gray Man, started full metal alchemist and it's comepletly drawn me in lol, going to start looking for the anime. Still waiting for King of Hell volumes since I can't find them online...

Decided to buy Air Gear. I have to say, I've only got 1 more disc to watch (6 episodes) and so far it's pretty freaking awesome. It's funny as hell and hey, there's plenty of boob action too. I never imagined an anime that's basically about mechanized rollerskating/rollerblading would be so cool and enjoyable.

Just finished reading FMA manga up to where it is now starting on claymore now. BTW anyone know if the Claymore anime was any good?

the anime is really good came out in the second month of 2007 and the graphics + CGI animation fighting sequence are really good hardly to notice all details but if u read the manga should get the anime u'll see what im talking once u watch the first episode :)

i saw most of claymore didnt get to see the ending i didnt think it was all that good story wise pretty good action tho

Bein caught up on everything I entended to watch this season and the long runnin' ones I always watch, I skimmed this thread for some ideas because I was in an anime mood last night. Started watchin' Air Gear, as was talked about above, and that show is just great. I don't think I've laughed so much watchin' an anime.

Yeah I finished watching it last weekend. It's totally awesome. I was told there's like two more seasons to it, which I hope is true, because that would be freaking awesome. That and season one leaves you wanting to watch more (Both a bad and good thing).

All that is out there right now is 25 episodes and an OVA unfortunately.

good news is there is a LOT of the Air Gear manga to read, which takes the story much much further

Bad news is I don't really read mangas, aside from Shippuuden which I picked up the toward the end where it's at now. (theres still a lot I won't know until it airs on the anime)

Hmm, well.. that really sucks about Air Gear. They really should have a second season (and a third)!

Yeah, I just can't do Manga. I'm completely happy with how the story ended in the anime it's just that it's one of those series I look at and wonder why One Piece is almost at 400 while Air Gear, a far better show, sits at 25 and an OVA.

Anyway if you know more to the story could you tell me somethin', this is the only thing I wanted to know that never grew to fruition...

Spoiler:
Does Ikki and Ringo finally end up lovers?
