What do you think would happen to the FFXI world if the was no such thing as Utsusemi

Yea, SE didn't intend for us to solo, But they gimped us from the start, party wise, Since then they've made us able to party and people never have adjusted to having a bst in party, Thus we solo because people see us as worse then drg.

I dont think ur worse than a drg if that helps Orcant :). In fact, everytime i start a party (after level 35 for {Leave}) i look for a bst. I think they're amazing. Espicaly with nin sub, heh. Bst is pwnage, i make the effort to spread the word.

On topic, if no uts, thf would need ANOTHER WHOLE SET OF GEAR!!! Defence/evasion. Jebussss.

Ideally, you should have to choose between offense and defense. Utsusemi lets you gear/eat for offense and be invincible anyway. I wouldn't miss it. It kills the balancing tradeoff that jobs like Drk and Pld make to specialize. The faster you can kill, the faster you should be killable. It used to be that way. Now everyone's invincible and defense tanks and healers are left w/o a reason to exist.

NIN was intended to debuff, and the Utsusemi was intended to help a Ninja live, since alot of :Ni debuffs gain the Ninja alot of hate.

SAM was intended to tank because they should have a high parrying skill, emnity, and keep hate with their large sums of damage and weapon skills.

WAR was never fully intended to go /NIN for dual wield, or SE would have never put shield skill and what not into the AF. WAR was intended to use GAxe, since that is their A+ weapon.

Next your gonna tell me DRKs weren't ment to use G.sword?

So they were meant to use shields and a Great Axe :shok:

Also saying some jobs can do certain things cause its on there AF just sounds stupid. I have shield skill and Parrying skill on my AF, does that mean me being a RDM I should tank aswell?

No the job encompasses weapon skill versatility, It gives them more options, SE enhances that with af more or less.

The common use for a job in exp or endgame doesn't mean it is congruent to SE's intentions or their af.

You know this well DL, we were meant to be the real "fighter mage" but as there are many dd classes in the game it is pointless for exp when other jobs can do it with little/no sacrifice and much better, where as we had to compromise greatly.

Except the level cap was 50 when war was created, and A+ and A- were the exact same thing. They don't split apart til after 50.

Why does everyone assume that they know what each job was "intended" to be? What exactly was PUP intended to be? Is it possible that SE just designed jobs with strengths and weaknesses, and let the players decide what role they should fill?

Its easy to tell from the updates what they plan to fix most of the time. /shrug

They don't like something they change it

Agreed. They didn't like RNG doing high damage, so they nerfed them. Seems to be SE's solution to most things. Except drg, strangely they got stronger. Must be a pity thing. Guess SE CAN do something right... once a blue moon.

I'm not calling it impossible, but without utsu, Miser Murphy is a Grade A BITCH. tanking Miser Murphy.... I'd like to know how you did it, since I watched Miser Murphy OWN a 72 PLd in THREE HITS. his hits are weak, but "Additional Effect: 300+ Hp drained from <t>" is a real killer >.>

Theres a difference between "doing high damage" and "ignoring level defense differences"

It's kinda funny how fast people complain about blms being good at events, but are so quick to defend their utsusemi to the death. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, I say.
